Watching the 4 lads podcast who speaking of Aasgaard 1 of them said was poorer than cantwell. Tbh I totally agree he's nowhere near the level. Am I harsh? Can anyone see a player.

03 Nov 2025 20:43:28
No for me. I'd move him on. He's not got the fight or desire required for our league. Until he got sent off I'd forgot he'd started.

Probably get your money back at least for him IMO. Raskin as well. Absolutely bang average. Move both them on in January with an eye on next season.

This squad is full of weak gutted dogs.

03 Nov 2025 20:43:52
We go over this at least twice a week.

Thelo Aasgaard is twice the player of Todd cantwell.

In both ability and attitudes.

Why do we pine on individuals that acted like petulant children.

03 Nov 2025 20:44:46
Overreaction to his sending off that's probably annoyed people, there's clearly a player there. He's had some games where he's been ineffective and others i thought he's played well but inconsistency is something happening across the board not just him.

His goal vs united was fantastic. Need to stop ruling out players after 1/4 of the season, he's only been here 3/4 months. He's big, strong, good with his feet and in a pretty good norwegian squad.

03 Nov 2025 20:47:42
No Aasgaard is a poor mans Cantwell and no where near him and i had a very strong dislike of Cantwell because he was a diving, cheating Ba$$a. Both similar in the way they would rather try wee flicks n tricks and make themselves look rather than do what is best for the team.

03 Nov 2025 20:55:24
Talent isn't usually the issue at Rangers. Over the years we've had some very talented players at the club, but their mentality just is not up to the required standard. Aasgaard is a quality player. He reminds me a lot of Joe Aribo, but for me he doesn't have the required mentality to play here.

03 Nov 2025 21:03:48
I forgot to add that both of them go and get their hair cut in salon rather than a barbers and i would hate to be in a trench with any of them.

03 Nov 2025 21:05:28
Asathor, I didn't like Cantwell. I thought he was more hassle than he was worth but he's 4 times the player Aasgaard is.

03 Nov 2025 21:11:30
Asa when will we see the talent you see?

03 Nov 2025 21:13:41
I really like Aasgaard, you can see he can play, very fast feet for a big lad, but he needs to get involved far more in the game, he'll score a few crackers.

03 Nov 2025 21:13:48
Asa noone is pining for cantwell but this is a discussion piece and its worthwhile getting others opinions. Personally i'm very disappointed in him and feel he won't make a success at Rangers.

03 Nov 2025 21:23:29
As it stands so far Asathor can't well looks the better player to me and so does it is Hagi.

That's the reality of the situation as it stands now.

03 Nov 2025 21:27:41
Aasgaard has talent but so do Lammers and Propper, the latter did not adapt to the speed of the game up here and struggled unless Aasgaard can move it quicker and adapt imo he will go the same way as Lammers who I thought at the time was a marvellous signing.

03 Nov 2025 21:28:31
Stale Solbakken can see a player in him of that helps you?

Without continually going over old ground, he's technically very good and someone who thrives when given time and space to play in.

To get the best out of him two things need to happen, he needs to develop to improve the weaker aspects of his game and we need to get better at finding him earlier in our attacking play.

Unfortunately though it doesn't appear that we as a fanbase are willing to give many, if any, players time to develop.

03 Nov 2025 21:31:02
Well then Asa hope he starts showing it, been unimpressed so far with him.

03 Nov 2025 21:40:51
I keep hearing on here that this player is good or that player is good, when do we the fans get to see this? Maybe he'll come good, I really hope so, but I don't hold much hope.

If he was twice the player of cantwell he'd be playing for a top team. I'm certainly not pining for him just agreeing with the discussion, same as onewalter.

03 Nov 2025 21:44:39
I really thought he had something about him at first but I'm starting to have my doubts as I've just not seen enough to convince me yet.

03 Nov 2025 21:49:17
He's technically one of the best players we have however I think he'll struggle with the pace of the game in Scotland. He wants too much time on the ball. I don't think he's a lazy player or doesn't have the desire, there's just a lot of players that move like him who get labeled that they don't care.

Cantwell had way more and product that's for sure but it's still early doors for Aasgaard.

03 Nov 2025 21:56:22
Ehl the game is littered with good trainers guys who played well in training thr problem is he won't get the time and space in our league and as of today and for 3m he's been a flop. I hope yiur right but don't see it.

03 Nov 2025 22:00:38
EHL, it appears we've got over 20 million pounds worth of players at development stage.
and that's a conservative estimate.
It would be nice to have a few more game ready players.

03 Nov 2025 22:07:28
Cantwell wasn't good either.

03 Nov 2025 22:15:08
Loads of skill but does not effect game enough. Goes missing at times.
Ehl, Do you think where he plays is his best position.
I get what you are saying but we have won one league title in how many years.
My posts over the years have said about giving youth a chance but I can get the frustration as we are not winning anything.

03 Nov 2025 22:20:14
Your absolutely correct EHL players are flops after a handful of games at Rangers.

Yet players who treated this club with utter contempt have been spoken about as legends.

03 Nov 2025 22:25:57
I've said a few times I think Aasgaard will be the one out of the new players who will eventually go for big money. He's looked good in moments but def inconsistent so far like many players. We need to find the right formula and increase the intensity and that's what Rohl has started and generally a better flow to our play.

Röhl talked early doors about playing forward quicker and that should suit Aasgaards game. It's not clicked yet but feel confident it will.

03 Nov 2025 22:33:32
OWS, if you are comfortable labelling him a flop in November after the Martin debacle and 4 games in to a new coaches reigns - awesome.

Personally I'm willing to give him time to see if he can settle and improve.

CO2, i get your point, but the reality is that we even hate on our 'game ready' players. I've honestly got to the point where I genuinely doubt we'll ever accept any players.

03 Nov 2025 22:43:31
Do you get time at us if you're not winning? And I think you have made a good point there EHL in these players like Aasgaard and Chermitti need time to develop but we need players to step up now and be valuable to the team more consistently, we are not in a position to be paying millions of pounds for players that need developing, think that's ok to integrate a couple into the team as long as we are winning, this is where the player trading model falls down for me.

03 Nov 2025 22:44:32
Give Aasgaard a bit longer, he's not used too playing the game as fast, needs longer than a few months, especially mostly under Martin.

03 Nov 2025 22:47:22
Aasgaard is a big strong lad with very good feet and bags of skill, give him time to settle in and get into a system that suits him, it's surely clear to see he has great potential.

03 Nov 2025 23:00:10
I think Aasgaard is very good technically and has got a lot of qualities. However, does he have the fight, will to win and hunger, or is he just very neat on the ball?

03 Nov 2025 23:16:48
Correct CO2 and good post, if we keep hearing that these players need to develop then maybe we should be looking at developing players but paying developing fees and not millions, would take that boy Kenny over Chermiti every day of the week.

03 Nov 2025 23:16:49
Aasgaard a good player just needs to adapt to speed of Scottish football, takes a fraction too long on ball.

03 Nov 2025 23:42:10
Molsmeansgols great post!

However the boy is a player. He's in a terrible situation and that's a lot for some to handle. It's major pressure to perform. To not choke, to impress. Particularly with some of its being bonkers about expectations!

The boys a player and he needs our support. It's that simple.

So support him, everyone.

Make him want to be here.

03 Nov 2025 23:56:10
Lmao

Sounds like sour grapes. Yeah we're all fu#### off. Look at point view any OLD signings not worth ##'x. However saw point about time/space on ball. In SPL what time/space? Believe Aasgaard will come good. Another post likened him to that little @@@@ we just got rid of. Difference is Aasgaard tries, he looked like he didn't give a f@@@ and it showed. I'm patient guy will give Aasgaard time but always have one eye who hell bought him.

04 Nov 2025 00:26:00
I see a footballer there ?

The lad has an elegance about him, and as his goal the other week showed he has bags of quality.

If he has the right attitude, and the right support, the lad will make us millions.

04 Nov 2025 00:37:07
We should never sign another player with a lassies hair cut, Terry Hurlock was a big hairy man?.

04 Nov 2025 00:40:16
And Cantwell was a petulant child. A legend in his own mind. Could have been good, but his attitude was rotten. Just didn't have the mentality to play for us.

He'll be captaining his team in a relegation battle this season. Let's see who he blames this time.

04 Nov 2025 02:35:28
Asa

Thought Cantwell snivelling little rat who only had one eye on EPL. Aasgaard can see at least as trier for gers. If succeeds well wait see. But there have been signs, but will be difficult in SPL.

04 Nov 2025 06:32:58
Ehl yes i'm happy from what iv seen to label him a flop and off all our signings he's not the only flop. Can thst change absolutely but the here and now he's done nothing to suggest he. ll go onto become a good Ranger.

04 Nov 2025 07:46:07
Ows he has only been here around three months, yes only three.

04 Nov 2025 08:08:20
OWS i guess you thought Coisty was a flop too and wanted him out. we are absolutely terrible supporters, writing people off in a few months, effectively he has had 2 weeks with the new manager. we all agreed that Martins tactics did nothing for the players, so yes effectively we are saying in 2 weeks he is a flop.

maybe he won't come good but for god sakes give some people a chance. by definition of the word supporters then we are all flops.

04 Nov 2025 08:55:36
I see a lot of parallels between Aasgaard and Wirtz at Liverpool. Nobody can deny Wirtz is a terrific player, but he's struggling in the system and the pace of English football, so he's not showing his best.

I believe both will come good once they figure out their role in the team, once the team figure out how to get the best out of them and once they both settle in to new surroundings, coaches and teammates.

04 Nov 2025 09:40:25
Cant really compare Aasgaard and Cantwell though. Cantwell actually contributed to the team. Not just one wonder goal. Even Matondo scored a few wonder goals (against Celtic at that) but we all have our feelings on Matondo.

Personally I think Cantwell was a better player for us than Aasgaard has been or will be. Aasgaard definitely has talent but he'll not show it in our league or for Rangers.

I desperately hope i am wrong.

(PS. no one is calling Cantwell a legend and he acted a certain way because he was treated a certain way)

04 Nov 2025 10:08:05
Asathor from what I've seen Cantwell is a better player I don't mean to be disrespectful but being technical seems to be the buzz word for being ? nowadays ?.

04 Nov 2025 11:40:48
U could be technically correct RFC?.

04 Nov 2025 12:40:12
Forgetting all the baggage that came with Cantwell, purely as footballer, he was on a different level from Aasgaard. He, was good on the ball, carried us up the pitch, created chances and scored goals. He had a wee bit of devilment in him that meant he didn't get pushed around. Aasgaard brings none of that and I only wish we had spent the money in bringing Joe Aribo back, a far better player too.

Interesting that I haven't heard all the people who wanted Lundstram, McCausland, Diomande and Aarons drummed out of Ibrox for getting sent off haven't said the same about a guy whose stupidity cost us an OF semi final.

04 Nov 2025 12:49:31
Asgaard is at least twice the player that Cantwell will ever be. Frankly, I am stunned that so many people here are still crying over Cantwell, he has ability but will never give his all for anything but himself.

He could have been a superstar but look where he is now. Aasgaard is the better player by a country mile and there can be no doubt of that surely.
