I see barry ferguson now joining billy dodds in saying in their opinions, rangers must sign lyndon dykes. Alex rae had also said this last week. All about opinions, but every former rangers player that's been asked about dykes have stated rangers should sign him without hesitation. Even derek johnstone is saying it. I've got no doubt dykes will be signing for rangers and he's better than cosgrove and better than shankland.

Dykes would be a great addition to the squad and would provide excellent cover for Morelos as well as giving the team a different option. Wouldn’t have him as a direct replacement for Morelos though.

SGL, there is a good reason that any of the ex players you mention are not good managers. If they think Dykes is good enough for us then maybe that is the reason.

It is amazing how many of our ex players need to keep themselves in the limelight. You can add Boyd and Hutton as well.

I know Gerrard doesn't usually play 2 up front but in think if both Morelos and Dykes were to start together (if both here for next season) they would be difficult to handle for defenders.

Let’s hope he has a great season plays plenty of games for Ross County and gets into the 1st team. Nothing better as a fan seeing a youth player break into the 1st team sadly we have not had too many over the years.

John25,you were talking about bobby russell earlier mate, he was a terrific player. I'll never forget the goal he scored over in holland,
when we beat psv eindhoven 3-2 after drawing the first leg at ibrox 0-0.I was at the first leg at ibrox and they were a good side and if i remember correct, eindhoven hadn't lost at home for a while, 'till we beat them 3-2.I remember i was at the round before when we put out juventus by beating them 2-0 at ibrox, ie.2-1 on aggregate. They were also a superb team. We eventually lost to fc cologne in the quarter final that year. Again i was at the game at ibrox when we drew 1-1 with them. Wee tommy mclean equalised with a free kick that night. He took the free kick quickly, before the cologne defenders were properly set/ ready! Those were the days mate and very special memories!
Especially as i was a young boy at all those games, with my late dad, god bless him! 🙏.

Posters moan on here that our targets are not good enough - our level is the £1 - 3 million pound player, either playing in Scotland or 1st to 3rd divisions in England or the untried at senior level under 20s.

Reality is out there!

The covenanter, although i didn't say dykes had actually signed, when some on here were saying this, a couple of days ago, i most definitely still think that rangers will sign lyndon dykes mate! I stand to be corrected, but i think dykes will be a rangers player, before this transfer window closes, whenever that is.

I believe if Rangers are interested in Dykes then something would of happened by now. After all Gerrard was quoted as saying he wants to act early. So for that reason I don't think he'll be a Rangers player. Early bird and all that.

I totally get and agree we need 1st 11 players but we cannot dismiss players we can develop and sell on unfortunately that's where we are
Pains me to say it but over the other side of city have done that well yes there are have been duffers but in the main scouting has been far better for years, hopefully with our new guy in place it's going to get better

Larsson came from Feyenoord so hardly a backwater mate. Also him and Moravcik were established internationals. Easy to get seduced by Robertson (vardy always the other one mentioned) but these guys are exceptions to the rule. Won't be a player with a rise as fast as Robertson for another twenty years.

SG signings have been 50/ 50 for me at the moment and it needs to get better if we are to challenge them.

Everyone is aware we need to sign with future investment in mind mate, we definitely agree on that. We also need cast iron, first team stand outs this season. We have spent the last couple years trying to get bargains and with a couple of exceptions (Fredo included) we have not got the best hit rate. Guys that end up in the stands bleeding a wage that will never cut it. I actually feel we probably have the same opinions mate, just those names quoted didn't tally up with your argument. All good debate though 👍.

John McLaughlin. Can't say I'm enthralled by any of the signings to date. The guy was released by (wait for it) Burton Albion (yes you heard correctly) in May 2017, and here's what his manager Nigel Clough had to say at the time "We just feel that we want to move in a different direction with a different kind of goalkeeper". Not exactly awe inspiring is it.

I feel he is more back up but wait and see! Two year deal would take up to McCrorie being ready to potentially step up. Always thought he was decent at hearts and I feel a step up from Wes either way.

Yes jon mclaughlin will be back up to allan mcgregor, at least in the short term anyway. Robby mccrorie will go out on a season long loan deal again, once he signs his new rangers contract. that's what we did when allan mcgregor himself was breaking through as a young goalkeeper and look how that turned out for him. Its the correct way regarding young mccrorie and just like mcgregor did, i do expect mccrorie to be the rangers no.1 in the not too distant future, for years to come. I think rangers are handling his situation spot on! 👍.

NRD there is a difference between negativity and pointing out the facts. I am not negative at all in fact I’m optimistic about the direction the club is taking and so far as McLaughlin is concerned I am keeping an open mind, the past is not necessarily a predictor of the future he may well turn out to be brilliant, and I hope he does, I am 100% behind him. The comment made by former manager is not my opinion it’s just pointing out the facts. Anyway I know I will not convince you.

Funny someone slags him for being at burton, yet last year they were a top team when Murphy was scoring.

Muppet, the facts are that McLaughlin's contract was up and his spiteful boss Clough saw his team relegated the following season when they shipped 81 league goals. For clarification, the previous season McLaughlin let in 20 less, probably the difference between safety and the fate they eventually suffered.
