Fraser Thornton new chairman. Anyone know much about him?
1.) 14 Dec 2024 11:25:16
Never heard of him but he has a background in the Whisky industry which makes me wonder if Billy Walker has any future involvement.
2.) 14 Dec 2024 11:25:45
Fraser Thornton now the most googled name in Scotland. Had a solid track record and a season ticket holder. I trust John Gilligan and he should be sincerely thanked for guiding our sinking ship out of choppy waters. Let's hope this is now the start of stability and success with PC now seeing some positive signs we are going in the right direction.
3.) 14 Dec 2024 11:29:54
Sweet.
4.) 14 Dec 2024 11:50:29
Golf and whiskey in Scotland, anyone think he has been put in place by the future investors.
5.) 14 Dec 2024 11:51:56
oh no he is starting on Monday, the same day as Patrick Stewart so must be their first job is to hand PC his jotters if we lose the cup final. sorry can't help myself ?.
6.) 14 Dec 2024 12:25:09
Can’t help but think there’s a Billy Walker influence here. Can only hope. Let’s get some silverware in the cabinet tomorrow as a welcome present.
7.) 14 Dec 2024 12:32:42
Any relation of the legendary Willie Thornton?
8.) 14 Dec 2024 12:40:13
Cooperdad, that is my thinking as well mate.
9.) 14 Dec 2024 12:55:47
Fraser Thornton, a very good business man.
10.) 14 Dec 2024 12:57:17
Iv never heard of him nut he does make lovely chocolate.
11.) 14 Dec 2024 15:45:48
I’ve worked with Fraser over the years. A good Bearsden man. A club supporter but a very astute businessman. He has a very strong reputation from his work with Distil. His role is non exec although there will be obvious remuneration. He has a massive job to oversee with Patrick Stewart the key player. Patrick from Aberdeen certainly not a supporter which is likely a good thing and will enable him to be more objective and not blinkered with a fan head on. Looks like a very good appointment from my experience of working in partnership.
22 Aug 2024 19:33:48
Daily rag online reporting were linked to Benfica player Neto, I know, I know, and I never actually read the article so know nothing about this other than the headline.
1.) 22 Aug 2024 19:53:06
21 year old midfielder on loan at Gil Vicente last season, that's as much as I know.
2.) 23 Aug 2024 05:07:49
Watched a lot of neto and get him signed as he's a superb, young player ?.
3.) 23 Aug 2024 05:19:10
What's his primary position in the team sws? I know we're still a body or two light but a good box to box cm wouldn't go a miss mate.
4.) 23 Aug 2024 08:54:52
You've watched a lot of him SWS, what league is it he plays in?
5.) 23 Aug 2024 09:19:04
Portuguese top flight bazbear, a league I very rarely watch, but many fans watch other leagues mate.
6.) 23 Aug 2024 09:22:11
Liga Portugal-Benfica CM / AM 21 played 29 games 2 assists 7 yellows, all I know and had to look. Never heard of him till you mentioned him Ger88 ?.
7.) 23 Aug 2024 11:20:33
Can’t e just buy Scottish players coming out of contract? If we don’t tie up shankland I am done.
8.) 23 Aug 2024 11:28:54
I used to watch Portuguese league regularly till they got involved heavily with robbing broadcasters and been to see Belenenses and Farense several times each, bit chaotic but certainly some real gifted players at most clubs, always a market to watch closely.
9.) 23 Aug 2024 12:29:09
Shankland will score again and Hearts will win again . possibly.
05 Aug 2024 14:15:14
Koppens away to Madrid for transfer summit with multiple clubs and agents.
1.) 05 Aug 2024 15:06:35
If the Mexican trip was anything to go bye be a waste of time!
2.) 05 Aug 2024 15:07:57
Here's hoping he can work fast. We really need more quality in, just a shame we won't be able to get them in the team for Thursday at this point. Think I might have a actual breakdown if we end up starting Matondo, Lawrence and Wright in attach, and Davies and Souttar at the back.
3.) 05 Aug 2024 15:10:51
Can he bring back Bellingham with him for tomorrow night please.
4.) 05 Aug 2024 15:29:44
He's as well going to Everest better chance signing a yeti at that summit.
5.) 05 Aug 2024 15:40:24
Ger this is more thing we now attend every two months, actually started under Gio.
It appears to be the way big clubs operate, I feel it could help build relationships with agents and foreign clubs.
6.) 05 Aug 2024 15:55:55
Don't tune in for the game on Thursday yo-jimbo or you'll have missed it by 48 hours.
7.) 05 Aug 2024 15:59:05
I'd rather he was here trying to sign/ sell players to sort this mess out than going on a jolly to Madrid. Seriously, there's a mess that needs sorted now before we can think about the future. Just another arse from elbow moment from our club.
8.) 05 Aug 2024 16:09:08
Sunshine calm doon mate ?.
9.) 05 Aug 2024 16:13:49
Sunshine . Do mobile phone not work in Madrid then no?
10.) 05 Aug 2024 16:16:07
Some very ill-informed responses to the original post. Some transfers will be identified 12-24 months out. As John has said, a chance to build relations, and could be a chance to continue discussions, and even to get a deal or two done. Why do some of the usual suspects take every opportunity to just bash the club? You seriously think this is a jolly? Ridiculous. I genuinely wonder if some people are genuine supporters or part time fans acting the big man on a faceless forum. Criticise by all means if it’s constructive and you have a an alternative, but the all out attacks from folk who never have a positive word to say about anything are just getting monotonous.
11.) 05 Aug 2024 16:19:22
@ jfm63 ? - I'm clearly too used to us playing in the Europa later in the week! Thanks for setting me right!
12.) 05 Aug 2024 16:19:47
Correct John although I heard it has only been in the last 12 months or so that agents have become a regular fixture in this aswell. Can only bode well for player trading and club relations.
13.) 05 Aug 2024 16:22:24
Yo I feel the same ??????.
14.) 05 Aug 2024 16:26:14
Ger u sure it’s ko pen in madrid.
15.) 05 Aug 2024 16:47:50
Like the sound of that John almost as if you know where he is? Haha.
16.) 05 Aug 2024 16:55:28
Ibrox4 good post mate. Therapists would have a field day on here ??.
17.) 05 Aug 2024 17:14:30
Don’t see the issue with this at all.
18.) 05 Aug 2024 17:18:28
That's what I was told John, Koppens due to be in Madrid on the 5th for this, I'd assume that's something he'd want to attend as opposed to delegate it to another club official, but if anyone knows differently please let me know so I can backhand the guy that told me ?.
19.) 05 Aug 2024 17:33:09
Aye Todd, "calm doon" because everything is going swimmingly, isn't it? The amount of heads stuck firmly in the sand on here is embarrassing.
20.) 05 Aug 2024 18:10:55
Ridiculous post sunshine (there's a breach under trades description if ever I've seen one ?), you're better than that.
So we stop planning and building for the future because we can't move on a couple of players this window (that still has more than 3 weeks left btw)?
21.) 05 Aug 2024 18:13:59
Coully, no idea, I was told who was going and it’s not koppen or Robertson, things can change.
22.) 05 Aug 2024 18:36:17
Having a jolly old time reading the comments? what's it like on here, jeez it's a forum, too many twisted knickers, we all know we aren't where we need to be, it'll take time as we need to rebuild, painful yes but we will get there. No point bickering when we can't do anything about it.
23.) 05 Aug 2024 18:42:51
Calm down because you think that someone being in Madrid means they can’t do anything else to do with transfers. If someone’s available to be bought or sold it certainly Won’t be put on hold because he’s “on a jolly”. So calm down, it’s all going to come together my friend.
24.) 05 Aug 2024 18:50:18
What is the reason you’d rather koppen stayed in Glasgow than went to the transfer summit in Madrid. Seems like a good idea and think you're just moaning for the sake of moaning.
25.) 05 Aug 2024 19:13:29
You never know sunshine we might broker a deal for the next Laudrup while in Madrid, a don’t think him going there is going to be detrimental to us in the transfer market to be fair.
26.) 05 Aug 2024 19:13:30
"Acting the big man"! ???? Oh, dear!
27.) 05 Aug 2024 19:19:16
Sunshine there is no short term quick fix or a magic wand to make everything better. We're still trying to offload mark Warburton signings for God sake. Got too many players on high wages happy to sit here if no one else is willing to buy them.
Koppen signed some great players for PSV maybe he knows what he's doing that's why he's in the job surely. Koppen can't make another team buy our players any more than you can. There's going to have to be patience with the process.
28.) 05 Aug 2024 19:28:59
Coully I’d heard Tom Taylor.
29.) 05 Aug 2024 19:32:04
Could very well be that Koppen was initially intending on going but someone else took his place for whatever reason John, you could very well be correct, the thing we both know though is that we are over there being represented.
30.) 05 Aug 2024 19:55:34
I wish I had your confidence Todd, I really do, but the "it's all going to come together", has been getting spouted season after season, and we all know how it ends.
31.) 05 Aug 2024 20:21:40
SSFC aka Keyser Soze??.
32.) 05 Aug 2024 21:15:57
A jolly like he’s there for a sun tan and all inclusive beer ??.
33.) 05 Aug 2024 21:17:56
Totally agree sunshine. Ibrox4me if you read sunshines post, he gives an alternative it says stay here and try and sign the players we desperately need instead of going on a jolly.
The guy is obviously gutted the way our club is being ran rightly so, no wonder most his posts are what they are, where are the positives? Because someone has a voice and is calling it exactly how they see it, he's being called a part time fan, acting the big man, etc, wtf. Our club is a mess from top to bottom, no matter how much fake positivity you lot want to throw at it. Tbh I feel he's a breath of fresh air in here, that tells it how it is, instead of constantly trying to dress it up. I've seen around 6 or 7 posters say short term pain for long term gain, really? Are we just writing of the last 10 year and acting like things have just went wrong this year? One of the most informed posters on here is telling us he believes things could get worse for us, not many have taken notice of this, as this would be considered talking negatively of our club, all most on here want to do is Co sign each other's b. s and kid on its all a bed of roses.
07 May 2024 19:22:37
Nicolas Vallejo, 20 year old Argentinian right winger, former u20 cap, out of contract in december from Independiente, name that was mentioned in convo to me, know hee haw about the boy, but would seem to align with our current scouting model, interesting that we are focusing on the south american market, plenty of unearthed gems that the heavyweights aren't hoovering up.
1.) 07 May 2024 21:39:36
Ca Talleres have an option to buy from Independiente, right winger, 20, might be worth a look see.
2.) 07 May 2024 23:36:28
Cheers fork that might scupper that then. But refreshing to see us at least keeping an eye on a market that isn't local.
3.) 08 May 2024 07:08:13
Sure is Gers88?.
29 Mar 2024 14:18:04
Saw a post on x (twitter) earlier saying next week there will be an announcement regarding Adidas, with the number 55 beside it, now I know, I know, it's twitter, most likely nonsense but I'll keep my eye on it just in case. When does our deal with castore come to an end? End of this season or end of next? And who would you like to be our future kit manufacturers?
1.) 29 Mar 2024 14:27:09
End of 24/ 25 season Ger.
2.) 29 Mar 2024 14:35:08
Cheers John, when would we be legally able to negotiate with other manufacturers or is there no set date? Or would we have to give castore notice that we won't be renewing? Sorry to trouble you with this just find the business side of things interesting.
3.) 29 Mar 2024 14:52:16
Hopefully not. Adidas stuff is absolutely shocking these days. I'd stick with castore if kappa wasn't an option.
4.) 29 Mar 2024 14:53:37
Imo Ger we don’t require to give Castore any notice as we signed a fixed term contract.
I would imagine rangers are sounding the market at present and feel this would include Castore
Remember it will depend if certain clauses are included in contract re notice etc
Remember recent it was posted that castore are to become European distribution online for Puma, some feel that may possibly be an indication where we end up next, I’m not so sure.
5.) 29 Mar 2024 15:05:16
Have to admit the Castore stuff is brilliant. Look at the tramps kit this season. It's honking and the quality is gash!
I'd stick with the boys from Merseyside.
6.) 29 Mar 2024 15:19:03
Kappa ? good one tjn.
7.) 29 Mar 2024 15:29:39
First year I have ever bought the home away and third kit. Castore have improved massively over the time they have been our kit supplier and I think we should stick it out and stay with them for the coming years.
8.) 29 Mar 2024 15:30:35
Aye I'm fine and happy with castore should we continue with them, as you said though John there will be moving parts and clauses etc, and undoubtedly the down side money value with potential suitors will have a big say I'd imagine.
9.) 29 Mar 2024 15:56:09
Home and 3rd kit, no complaints in any way, gd quality. ?.
10.) 29 Mar 2024 16:33:28
Hope we leave castore never been a big fan of their stuff.
11.) 29 Mar 2024 16:45:39
I’ve found their stuff alright but it’s all about the best deal for Rangers especially when you see what that mob are getting in merchandise.
12.) 29 Mar 2024 17:16:36
Kappa are quite easily the best manufacturer going just now.
Adidas are a shambles. Their Euros kits have gone down like a lead balloon, as have their 23/ 24 kits.
13.) 29 Mar 2024 17:34:16
Agree flb its all about the money for the most part. We made Castore no doubt about it so if they have a business head they will pay what we are worth.
Just don't want the Adidas rubbish!
14.) 29 Mar 2024 17:41:26
Would prefer nike but I did like a lot of the adidas kits back in the 90s.
15.) 29 Mar 2024 18:20:14
Just last week on here someone mentioned Ashley had his grubby paws all over Castore too.
16.) 29 Mar 2024 18:45:25
Very happy with castore now, quality is definitely far better, happy with every jersey this season.
17.) 29 Mar 2024 20:23:07
I agree with you My star ?I think the castore kits are quality and hand on heart, i think rangers and castore will extend their partnership, beyond the original contract of 5 years ?I think castore will do everything to keep us as our kit makers and tbh i just want the best deal on offer for our club, plain and simple ?.
18.) 29 Mar 2024 20:42:29
Tjn who is sponsored by kappa i genuinely can't think of one? Fulham maybe.
19.) 29 Mar 2024 22:08:46
John227,was it not umbro that castore bought into a sort of partnership with mate ? as opposed to puma ?.
20.) 29 Mar 2024 22:15:08
I don't think it really matters who our kit manufacturer is.
Tops will always fly of the shelves.
Best deal possible for the club is all that matters.
21.) 29 Mar 2024 22:48:47
Dado a lot of Italian clubs. Fiorintina, genoa, brescia, bari.
The venezia kits the last few years have been classics.
Villa, monaco and napoli have all had stunners with them too.
I've heard adidas have been granted licences from previous sponsors for a classic kit range, I'd take them if they were reissued.
22.) 29 Mar 2024 22:53:47
Kappa sponsor quite a wide range of foreign teams, f1 aswell, Hull City and some minor English teams, but they sponsor the mighty Pollok and East Kilbride, had to have a nosey to find out?.
23.) 29 Mar 2024 23:13:39
Walter not sure.
24.) 30 Mar 2024 06:17:01
Its not as easy as just switching kit manufaturer, castore do a lot more than just make our kits, pretty sure they pretty much run the retail side of the club, website, shops etc. They have been good for us and we have been great for them.
25.) 30 Mar 2024 07:36:43
Yes SWS it was umbro that castore have teamed up with. My very first Rangers strip was made by umbro and i also had the matching track suit. Both were probably better suited for playing football in the Arctic as the material was that heavy and i'll never forget the trackie bottoms that had big bell bottom flares. A wee bit different to the skin tight feather weight gear that now gets used.
26.) 30 Mar 2024 19:30:06
Ger88
Take addidas all day, their kit always more attainable. In every sports shop poss.
27.) 30 Mar 2024 19:39:17
RTG
Just bought addidas Arsenal 3rd strip. Top notch.
28.) 30 Mar 2024 19:43:58
Copland,
No they don't. We have merchandising/ marketing manager does all this. Castore simply make strips, end of their profit making probability.
29.) 30 Mar 2024 22:50:08
When you think of kappa you think tracksuits, bangles, girls hair braided and bottles of hooch.
30.) 31 Mar 2024 07:42:39
U really are weird Dado??.

Since our S******G board refused to pull the trigger on Clement and bring in Conceçiao (who has beaten Juve and Inter in his first two games at Milan), I'll give them the benefit of the doubt if they give Jose a call. Seriously though Clements time has to be up this is atrocious and beyond a joke now.
30 Dec 2024 22:32:56
Well that's oor Sergio in at AC today, he who hingith aboot.
27 Dec 2024 16:13:13
Right lads and Eds, not Rangers related but I hope you'll indulge me for a minute or two. My mrs and I agreed that my goal for 2025 is to try and conquer situations that i'd normally be hesitant or uncomfortable being in, and whilst for the most part this is an anonymous site i find it hard to let my guard down and open up and often use humour as a shield making it difficult to build new friendships. Hopefully the eds don't mind posting this as it will help me alo"t. My names Scott and as some will know i served in the royal marines before being medically discharged against my will after being shot in a combat zone. I suffer with ptsd and depression after my best friend took his last breath and looked helplessly into my eyes as i held him. None of what i'm saying is designed for empathy nor sympathy. There is at least one other i know that has served perhaps more and i have complete respect. i'm writing this to humanise "the man behind the username and progress as a person. This can be an outlet for myself and others and nothing should ever be personal. I like and appreciate all of you and thankyou for making this what it is.
{Ed001's Note - I understand fully that it helps to talk about this stuff and if this helps you to deal with issues, then that takes priority over any conversation about football. A person's life is more important than a game. Nice to meet you Scott.}
26 Dec 2024 23:26:27
Well folks gave my old pal Sergio Conceçiao a phone this evening after watching that horror show, apparently he doesn't speak English now and hung up.
25 Dec 2024 07:11:25
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Hope you all have a great day and big thanks to the eds for keeping this place ticking over smoothly. All the very best lads ?.
{Ed001's Note - Merry Christmas Ger, have a great holiday period.}
16 Feb 2025 18:48:49
Man U have never been the biggest club in the world for about 20 years man ?.
15 Feb 2025 20:25:35
Psv don't completely dominate, our of the last 5 full Eredivisie seasons, Ajax have won 3, Psv and Feyenoord one a piece.
09 Feb 2025 20:05:22
Not sure why some are calling for his head? Because we've just been beaten at home by a championship club at Ibrox that'll be the reason if I had to guess.
04 Feb 2025 11:20:09
Storm and fork were extracting the urine out of me on the live chat making up future cellmates for me cause I got in a spot of bother stevie ?.
04 Feb 2025 09:10:28
Oh you're getting it alright in the next live chat mate ??.
11 Feb 2025 00:38:57
Thank feck I must either be out on loan winning matches or am the resident Big Dunc of the squad.
09 Feb 2025 20:14:41
Clement on reportedly close to 50k a week, someone correct me if I'm wrong but if we're cutting the squad wage down surely there's a better manager out of work who will command less than that aswell? I know elite level coaches we won't get a sniff of but surely someone like Muscat or the Bodo manager could be viable?
