Coybig, Billy was a person that was respected by all in football, a giant of a man in many ways.

25 Apr 2019 11:40:21
If rfc do not announce anything our fans should just go and do it in fifth minute.

24 Apr 2019 21:54:12
Respect to all of you who posted tributes to big Billy on this site and ours. A lot of Rangers scarfs left at his statue at Celtic park also in the last couple of days. It won't be forgotten.

24 Apr 2019 22:24:18
Respect should always be a given COYBIG, no matter if you're blue or green mate! Billy McNeill was a true gent first and foremost and a celtic legend in that order. Great family man and great celtic legendary,
centre half. RIP MR. BILLY MCNEILL! GOD BLESS YOU SIR.

24 Apr 2019 23:00:46
Couldn’t agree more Super. I’ve said it before, rivals not enemies.

25 Apr 2019 00:19:50
Coybig👍.

25 Apr 2019 09:07:46
There are a few guys across our rivalry that will unite everyone. Billy McNeill is one of them.
Billy was to you what John Greig is to is, they are the founders of what we stand for. Although gone in person he will be forever remembered by both Blue and Green.

Rest in peace Billy, have a kick about in the sky!

25 Apr 2019 12:29:24
I’d like to think that we’ll show the same respect to John Greig when he leaves us although the last time I saw him, he looked as if he’ll be around for a quite a number of years to come.

24 Apr 2019 18:25:48
Anybody know exact team selection that apparently embarrassed us yesterday in closed door fixture with Liverpool U23's before the young boy's were brought to rescue us in second half.

24 Apr 2019 19:36:35
Fotheringham polster barisic Macaulay Worrall halliday dorrans coulibally grezda Lafferty morelos . I know worral barisic lafferty and were 3 of the 4 who got subbed at half time . Not sure who else .

24 Apr 2019 21:40:59
Cf I believe it was grezda.

25 Apr 2019 00:19:45
I think the point SG was getting at was to give the fringe players a chance to shine and what I've heard none did apart from Polster who was fair to average. They brought on some youth at half time and it changed the attitude of others where the young lads were prepared to put in a decent shift and the fringe players played it at a leisurely pace and made mistakes all over the park. Worrel in particular made as many mistakes as the rest added together and for me he has played his last first team game for us as I think Katic is a better defender and at least the boy knows how to head a ball out of defence properly.

25 Apr 2019 06:04:03
Steven Gerrard will know who can continue to take on this rangers,
rebuilding journey with him. There's undoubtedly dead wood that our club will and has to move on. Not picking on kyle lafferty in the least here,
but i did say on here when we were linked with signing him, that we shouldn't have went near him again!
Simply not good enough and has been an extremely poor signing. Like i said at the start here, he's certainly by no means the only one!

25 Apr 2019 08:41:34
Sc11 do you really feel Laff has been given a decent chance? don't think his off field issues helped but I'd definitely keep him as a squad player gives us a different option is love to see him and defoe in a Hateley/ McCoist type paring.

24 Apr 2019 09:22:00
Looking for your thoughts guys do you think that Kamara is on a par or could be better than Barry Ferguson.

24 Apr 2019 10:57:45
At his peak Barry Ferguson was world class, Kamara is not in his league “yet “ but he’s only 22 I believe so time is on his side.

24 Apr 2019 11:33:31
Barry was not workd class was good in scottish terms.

24 Apr 2019 11:49:04
Barry could have played in any team in the world.

24 Apr 2019 12:09:49
Think Kamara has a way to go to be anywhere near the standard of Ferguson.

24 Apr 2019 12:37:08
Tilla die,
seriously you don't think Barry was world class. Did you actually see him play, as Seeker has said he could have played in any team in the world at his best. He was a general in the middle of the park that dominated any team.

24 Apr 2019 12:43:22
Saw him. many times a good player of course but world class nah can't go with that
As far as he could play for any team in the world really?
Why didn't he?

24 Apr 2019 12:49:53
Tilla die - when Barry was playing under the wee Dutch general a German team offered big money for him, maybe someone on the site knows the precise amount? But it was turned down, he was certainly a world class player at his peak, only my opinion, he’d skill, guts, brains, excellent all rounder.

24 Apr 2019 12:53:18
A young ferguson was world class. Absolutely took pirlo apart when we played parma.

24 Apr 2019 13:13:25
Ulsterman. On his day Barry was a class act, But I can’t recall any German team approaching Rangers about him.

24 Apr 2019 13:41:10
Paul86 pirlo never played for Parma.

24 Apr 2019 13:53:53
My mistake. Do remember his performnace v parma. But rememebr pirlo praising him. Crossed wires.

24 Apr 2019 14:38:53
Cunny in oz
I remember when a German team made enquires, the wee General said he wouldn’t take £15 million for him, off the cuff remark as it was, but it showed he rated him big time. Surely I’m not the only one to remember this? Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think so.

24 Apr 2019 14:49:11
Barry Ferguson was a great player for Rangers but World Class 😂😂 An early start on the Davie Weir for some 😂.

24 Apr 2019 14:57:17
A rangers great never world class.

24 Apr 2019 15:06:16
barry ferguson was a good midfielder, world class not a chance, great player yes, if he was any good he would have been at a bigger club than blackburn. he didn't set the heather alight in england all be it he was unlucky with injuries, you couldn't not admire his desire for rangers in a blue shirt, we could do with a ferguson now at rangers.

24 Apr 2019 15:51:04
Ferguson was a great Ranger first time around but superior in every way to Square Baw McStay.

24 Apr 2019 15:57:07
Barry was a class player in his prime. When dick was our manager bayer levercusen offered rangers something like £22m for him.
He bossed a lot of big games for our club. That doesn't mean he was world class but, he was bloody good that can't be denied.

24 Apr 2019 16:05:13
I was a massive fan of barry ferguson. He was a superb midfielder and with ease international class, but imo not world class. World class gets banded about way too much, to players that are very good players but world class is the pinnacle and baz for me, isn't in that bracket. I don't think baz could have played for any club on the planet either. Paul gascoigne was world class and could have played for any club on the planet. I'm trying to show my example from international class to world class.
Quite a difference.

24 Apr 2019 16:19:13
Ferguson was class no doubt but not world class. Not many world class players have played in Scotland. Not in recent times anyway.

24 Apr 2019 16:21:48
I agree supercooper, do not rememer a 22 million offer, or we would have sold him.

24 Apr 2019 16:39:20
Barry Ferguson great player but world class not for me.

24 Apr 2019 17:11:41
Barry Ferguson played champions league football year in year out kamara has some way to go. I like kamara though very tidy player but still to see more from him more goals from midfield but early days lovely footballer though.

24 Apr 2019 17:17:05
He outshone other midfielders at the time, including Gio, who went on to play for Arsenal and Barca, as well as gaining over 100 caps for a Dutch side that reached a World Cup Final. Barry, had he made the right move (which he didn't want anyway) and avoided injury, could have starred for a top 6 side in England. Easily!

24 Apr 2019 17:21:07
are some on here saying barry wasn't world class because he only played at rangers and Blackburn? David Cooper must not have been world class either then.

24 Apr 2019 17:26:19
I have to agree, a great player, probably the best Scottish player of the last 30 years but not world class. Did anybody watch the soccer sixes over Christmas, he was still different class then.

24 Apr 2019 17:41:21
Also ran the show in Old firm games when he was still virtually a kid. Barry had it all, passing, dig, heart, vision, could score (18 in one season) and was a great leader, if not a bit moany at times! Above all, though, he was true blue to his core. A true Ibrox hero for me.

24 Apr 2019 17:51:59
I remember Barry first season under wee general. Barry had the luxury of playing along side players like De Boer which helped.
On what I've seen from Kamara in his first few months, I can see similarities between the 2. I agree that he will need to add more goals to his game to get to Barry's level but what a signing as will on get better.

24 Apr 2019 17:53:36
Barry Ferguson- world class? That has cheered me up loads 😆😂🤣.

24 Apr 2019 17:55:29
Good point concerning Cooper, was he a world class player?

24 Apr 2019 18:00:41
Ferguson didn't make it down south.

24 Apr 2019 18:33:11
World class no but to mention Kamara alongside Barry is crazy.

24 Apr 2019 18:53:08
If Ian Durrant hadn't got that injury he would imo have been world class.

24 Apr 2019 19:08:58
I agree with you Jaws. Wee durranty was some player before that scumbags career ending tackle. I like you,
believe ian durrant barring that horrific injury, would have gone on to become a world class midfielder.
He was not far behind the one and only paul gascoigne, in my eyes!

24 Apr 2019 19:30:16
The argument here is not whether or not Barry was world class (I think for two seasons he was) but if Kamara was on a par with him, which is clearly the most ludicrous statement of the season. Kamara right now isn't even near what Barry was at 18, never mind in his pomp.

24 Apr 2019 20:42:22
Kamara no where near as good as Ferguson. For three years I believe Ferguson was world class. At 21 he outplayed Dino Baggie, Sebastian Veron, and Stefan Effenberg in different European ties. He was not the same player when he came back to Gers but still miles better than anything we have now.

24 Apr 2019 20:50:26
Fergie I remember we used to call him the crab.

24 Apr 2019 22:11:05
I remembee Barry playing against the best in the world from Holland, Germany, Italy etc and regularly standing out. Why couldn't he have played in those teams? He would have crawled over broken glass for us and regularly played while not fully fit. Then again, it's all about opinions. If we had had a young Barry Ferguson in the heart of our midfield this season i think we woukd be winning this league.

25 Apr 2019 06:10:22
I agree with everything you said seeker, but he's NOT world class, in my opinion mate. When you actually sit down and think about actual world class midfielders, then it smacks certainly me in the face, that baz, even though how good he was, isn't world class. That termination should be used for extremely skilful, talented footballers! Too often the word "world class", is totally missused!

25 Apr 2019 22:53:26
Barry Ferguson, undoubtedly was a cracking player but you can't mention him in the same breath as world class players such as Iniesta, Xavi, Modric, Zidane, Pirlo, and that's just a few from the last couple of decades never mind the greats from the 70s or 80s. Yes fantastic player but your deluded if you think he was world class.

24 Apr 2019 07:48:51
looking at the BBC Website today, it appears that this deal for Hastie is not a done deal. The media headlines the other day made it look like he had agreed to join us, but Motherwell are saying they are still hopeful that he will sign a new deal with them.

24 Apr 2019 10:55:23
Agreed a deal but not signed.

25 Apr 2019 12:47:16
SC11 quite correct "world class' is used to often as is the exclamation mark ;-)

24 Apr 2019 06:54:37
Sad to hear about Billy McNeil am far too young to remember him but by all accounts I know he was a true captain to commanded our respect. Unlike ones now of days. Hope we do something on Sunday to show our respect.

24 Apr 2019 08:49:13
The above poster is right, something should be done to show respect for a sporting gentleman, but what? Like other posters I would be afraid of a minutes clapping or silence in case a few let the side down, then we are all branded. Maybe something on the screen, like him and Greig shaking hands? Something will be done I’m sure.

24 Apr 2019 16:20:06
Would like to see John Grieg alongside Jim Craig, Bobby Murdoch or Celtic player of that stature leading minutes silence. As RFC we should have the capability to do that. Ronnie Simpson could play ceremonial goalie for 1st 5 mins.

24 Apr 2019 17:04:43
Miller what you drinking Simpson okay cerimonial goalie.

24 Apr 2019 17:12:25
Millerbrandwilson. Are you at it?

24 Apr 2019 19:35:19
The club has paid our respects to a legend who must have passed away with a heavy heart seeing what was in charge of his beloved Celtic in the shape of the current chief executive, manager and captain, none of whom have a shred of the decency, stature and character Billy McNeill had. There's no need for hysterics like ceremonial goalies or old players 'leading' a silence. The club laid a wreath on behalf of us all and that's the way it should be.

24 Apr 2019 22:22:35
Well said daisy yore. We've paid our respects and kudos to eberybody who has commented on the sad news, and especially to John Greig for his comments and actions. I hope the idiots in our support don't ruin any kind of tribute to Billy McNeill at the weekend, otherwise it will tarnish our good name and give an already hostile media ammunition to attack us.

25 Apr 2019 00:14:19
i was at Celtic Park when Bobby Shearer died and at half time there was a picture of him in his Gers shirt up on the big screen, the applause he got was tremendous, hope our lot can do the same.

Review Of The Day 24th April 2019
