What's peoples thoughts on trying to sign big Andy Carrol free agent in this month, poss pay per game to prove his fitness. At 31 could still do a job if we managed to keep him fit.

Yes 68, i have a good few personal friends who are all fanatic newcastle utd supporters. Gary who's one of them told myself a week or so ago that big andy carroll had extended his stay on a contract with a few clauses in it. But he did say Carroll was staying for now as he had agreed and signed this short term contract. Very good big striker if you can keep him fit, if he's over all his injuries! A fit andy carroll make no bones about it would obliterate defences up here, with total ease! 👌👍.

Caroll staying at the toon another year . which is great as he is too much of a, injury liability on the park and has baggage of the park . so no use to us.

I half agree with your assessment of big andy carroll DOIGER. Injury prone yes, overrated no! If this guy was fit and over his injuries he's a superb, old fashioned type target man, who's unbeatable in the air.
Like i said earlier if fit and we did sign him hypothetically speaking, IMO he would destroy defenders up here in scotland.
Remember when fit he destroyed defenders down in england.

Mate, honestly, he's more of a financial liability than 'superb', he hasn't been capped since he was 23 (8 years ago), for a 'destroyer' centre forward he scores about 1 in 4, he didn't score in 15 games for Newcastle before the lockdown (4 goals in past 50 league games), Liverpool and West Ham fans often rate him amongst their worst signings - and this is when he is fit! In 14 years he has played over 40 games in one solitary season. You'll be telling us next he's nearly as good as Dykes! Come on, mate, you're better than this.

What worries me is that Gerrard was quoted on saying last season that he was going to focus on quality rather than quantity ( check if you like ) . That never happened. So what's his plan this season? Does Gerrard really feel the passion that we do or is he on a trial run? I'm a bit concerned.

Our major signings this season have to be starting 11 game changers, simple as that for me. I reckon we need to sign 3 starting 11 game changers and our signing policy for this season has to be quality over quantity! 👍.

Correct coop, unless a player walks in to the 11 then there's no point. We have enough average squad players. Players who have been replaced in the 11 then become squad players. Its the only way we will have a chance at stopping 10iar👍.

Must admit that hearts haven't messed about by now expected to appoint rangers legend davie weir, as their new sporting director. I think budge has made 2 very good shrewd appointments here with bringing back robbie neilson as head coach and now the likely appointment of davie weir as their new sporting director, to work alongside nielson. I honestly still don't think hearts will be relegated and league reconstruction will still happen. I honestly hope hearts and partick thistle win their case and take this shower of inept/ corrupt delinquents down.
I think they have every chance if they don't get their deserved repreive from relegation!

This will end the lawsuits and ensure Hearts and Partick stay in their respective leagues while guaranteeing Scumdee United promotion as well, unfortunately. Watch this space. I agree with you John in that Foden is an outstanding player. I just don't see us being able to attract talent of that level to Scotland. To be fair I don't think Billy Gilmour is far off Fodens standard if not already on a par so it does show we can develop that level of talent in Scotland without having to go looking to get loan players in.
