If this is true Asa then I can't blame the board, but I also fully understand the integrity of K. Muscat not coming in right away especially so close to winning another championship.
I know I was very unhappy when G. Souness walked out on us with 4 games to go in 1991.

Asa, the reason Kevin Muscat and steven gerrard didn't take the Rangers job is down to the recruitment model our club is undertaking, pure and simple and these 2 muppets patrick stewart and Kevin thelwell running the model ? Absolutely shocking and don't make me laugh that it was purely down to Muscat not coming to the club immediately ? Like gerrard, Muscat didn't like what he saw under the hood ?.

Why would they pay a large compensation package and wait 6 weeks, no sense in them doing that in my opinion.
It's not just winning the league but our overall position will determine which European competition we get to play in next season, to much at stake with our points difference at the moment.

Rangers knew from the start Muscat wouldn't join until November. Claiming the deal collapsed because he wouldn't come sooner is nonsense. A poor attempt to mislead the support.

John, I'm all for the DOF role within the club i can see it doing well if done correctly but i believe the correct way to do it is to have a healthy balance of manager style players as well as players the DOF would see as the correct fit for the club and has potential to earn cash!
Everything we are hearing currently (although it may not be true) is KT is wanting full control of the recruitment department. That to me is going to put off the majority of managers/ head coaches!

The recruitment model is the same model that almost all clubs are running except the cash rich ones. Celtic and their managers don't seem to have a problem with buying players, developing and selling them whilst winning trophies. Jefte and Igamane are examples of us doing it, problem is what are the managers being told.
Are they being told they'll only shopping in England or what, can't be they aren't allowed a say cause I believe Aarons, Rothwell and Meghoma were Martin's signings. Many managers don't have the control Gerrard apparently wanted and I'll say was rightly got told no IMO. Muscat is a head coach for Shanghai Port, not a manager so he'll not be wanting complete control.

Not being prepared to wait 5 weeks for your supposed top choice as long term manager is short-sighted.
Being prepared to walk away and scrape deeper into the bottom of the barrel because Muscat wouldn't walk out on his team and join us now because we've made such an arse of things is everything I've come to expect from Thelwell, Stewart, Marathe, and Cavanaugh.

One Walter it's not just thelwell whose recruitment is terrible, try warburton Beale Gerrard bio et al and various dofs.
Only one who had a clue was Koppen, who most castigated on here, especially when his role was changed.
The owners should remove thelwell, and beg Koppen to return.

It's a month to wait to hopefully determine how we improve over the next few years with the right person in charge. The compensation is for next year not now and we could survive for another 4 weeks if Muscat is the best option and I think he would be as most fans would get on board with him so that's a plus from day one. Thelwell needs removed asap.

I also agree should never have let koppen go reputation was excellent esp in Holland we had a few successes from him too. Personally i'd get rod of Thelwell and Stewart and then see if Davie Weir and Koppen could be brought in. Get that sorted out and i think the attitude of potential managers/ head coaches might be different... Hell even some fan attitudes would change. For me the repeat issues always lead back to Thelwell and Stewart far too much say and power at club a lot of shady scenarios and really bad decisions i'm sick o them getting away with it.

I'm interested to hear what he said about the Rangers vacancy not working out, and if he states that Thelwell was the main issue.
I know in the past he has been excellent at out smarting cocky media reps and making them look like complete idiots with little to no effort.
