Souttar did have a stinker yesterday but i know feel terrible perhaps he isn't in best frame of mind to be playing at the minute? He older brother died on 17th july from MND. And funeral is this coming week in Friokheim just few miles from me. RIP to his brother Aaron. 42 years of age.

So sad! 42 years of age is no age at all. Thoughts and prayers to John and his family.

With news coming out about the boy's brother dying, then I don't know why Gio picked him to play? Having lost my younger brother, and knowing the emotional wreck it leaves you, John should be taken out the side and given a bit of time. I know they'll be some on here defending the decision to play him, and yes, Gio will have asked him If he felt fit enough to play, to what the lad would have said "yes", but C'mon?! I remember telling everybody I was ok for work, ok to get on with stuff, but it was all bravado as I was a wreck inside. We've probably all experienced loss on here, so we know it takes time. Give the lad time to grieve and get his head straight, and take him out of the playing squad, as playing him is obviously not doing him any favours.

Deepest condolences to Jahn and his Family at this sad time for them, God Bless.

Devastating news for John and all his family thoughts and prayers at this difficult and sad time ?.

31 Jul 2022 09:19:44
Condolensces to the family. Terrible disease and says a lot for the big fella to play the game given the situation. Hope he presses on now and shows us how good he is.

Horrible situation for John Souttar to be in, God bless his brother and family circle. Maybe the lad needed to play for his brother and to keep his own head in order. Maybe the boss was trying to do him a favour but seen it wasn't working. Football is only a sport after all. Stay safe and well Bears. ?.

That’s why I ask all on here to cut the lad some slack, he is likely to go to Belgium this week then return to bury his brother.

My thoughts and support are with him regardless.

31 Jul 2022 09:36:06
Horrible situation for John, I work with the father of John brother Harry’s girlfriend, he has said that John chose rangers instead of down south to be closer to family, he said last week that John is absolutely devastated, after speaking to my workmate yesterday he was surprised John played yesterday but can only think that John being the type of guy he is was desperate to play even with the situation he faces. big respect to John.

31 Jul 2022 09:36:28
Sad news, just shows us that none of us know what's going on in players personal lifes that can be affecting their performances on the pitch.

31 Jul 2022 09:36:34
Down in the Tube Station, everyone deals with grief differently and if John had said to Gio that he felt ready and it would actually help him by playing then who is Gio to tell him no and go grieve.

Sometimes makes them more focussed to go and dedicate a performance to their loved one.

I'm sure that happened with knockhaert down in England and Allison for Liverpool?

Not always bravado, sometimes it's a coping mechanism.

In hindsight yeh he had a poor game so maybe now he will take time to grieve if that's what he needs. it was the first game since his brother passed so who was to know how he would do.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother too. All the best.

31 Jul 2022 09:54:28
Didn’t even know that ??
Shocking and very sad news feel for him
surprised he even played now?

31 Jul 2022 10:01:15
Everyone is different, John, and maybe the lad will feel better being about the squad, but in my opinion, the boy must not play just now. His head is obviously all over the place, and the fact he's not even buried his brother, he's not even had time to grieve this heartbreaking loss.
On the live chat yesterday he was getting it left, right and centre from some posters. Yes, nobody knew what he was going through, but the lad was getting pelters - he doesn't need this on top of everything else. Regardless of how strong he appears to be by agreeing to play, he needs taken out the team and given time. I believe the management team saw this yesterday and that's why he was taken off.

Just pray for all Souttar family, I lost my brother in 1987 he was 19 (and some football player made his debut at Hearts at 16yrd then moved too Millwall at 18)I was 14yrd I could not mention his name until about about 22 it was my now wife that got me too talking about him, and maybe gvb thought he was doing the right thing playing him so would not say anything about that.

31 Jul 2022 10:43:33
Agree AM.
We should show our support at ibrox on Saturday with a minutes applause in 16 minute.

He is part off the Rangers family.

31 Jul 2022 10:52:22
I agree will all that John?.

31 Jul 2022 11:01:11
Correction their I was 17 when we lost him.

31 Jul 2022 11:14:32
Agreed John. John Souttar is one of our own and will be supported through this horrendous situation he is currently dealing with. I know everyone on here will now support the lad knowing what we know now, but lessons must be learned.
I wrote a post under my old username BMGH about players getting pelters from all corners, and how quick we are to judge players when they're going through a bad patch without knowing what exactly players were dealing with outside of the football side of it. This is just proof that not everything revolves around our club. Football is not the be all and end all, and when players are not at their best, is it better not to ask why this is than deciding he's just crap and not fit to wear the jersey?! Just my opinion.

Horrible Horrible disease R. I. P.

31 Jul 2022 12:54:05
