During a pre-season interview RM claimed that a thorough due diligence would be carried out on all potential signings as he only wanted players with the right mentality, ability and desire to win in order to meet the demands of our great institution, and that there would be no panic buys.
Yet after the Hearts game he claimed these players that have clearly not met the demands of our club couldn't handle the atmosphere at Ibrox!

Dada, you can research till the cows come home but there are so many variables. One being playing for the mighty Gers in front of a crowd who can turn on a sixpence. Hopefully with a win under their belts and a good reception. at the end. it's onwards and upwards.

No player has ever played under that toxicity at Ibrox against Hearts, that would be a big eye opener.

Dadab there is a difference between having that mentality and displaying it though. so he doesn't think at this moment they are displaying the mentality they thought the player would have to thrive in our team.

But how do you judge any player on having the mentality to play for a team in the first place without subjecting them to it and further one who have started poorly and the fans have turned on. I am not sure if the strongest of characters would be prepared for that. if they do have a strong mentality then it will be stronger after this and once the corner is turned whoever is the manager they will be in a better place.
I see it as a bit like most transfers where not all succeed though so there will be those who don make it for whatever reason. I don't think any team buys a player, panic or otherwise, thinking they will fail. also I don't think we had any panic buys. we maybe didn't get our first choice in some instances but take Cornelius as our last buy he still looks the part.

Bearing in mind that apparently every signing made there will only be less than 50% success rate at most clubs.

23 Sep 2025 12:30:11
They faced far worse going into Hibs game than anything I've seen before yet somehow were able to play. Perhaps all the fear is a load of nonsense after all or there's no way they should have been able to play walking out into that. Maybe, just maybe it had something to do with playing the right players for once and tactics do matter.

Maybe signing some decent experienced pros would have helped the younger players we signed . It has been difficult for them due to the atmosphere but let's be honest, they created the atmosphere with their dreadful performances and the managers wacky playing style and arrogant attitude.
None of the fans went to Ibrox at the start of the season hoping to be shouting at the likes of Aarons, Djiga and Rothwell . They created the negativity by being so poor . If that's their normal then they should never have been signed and so its the managers fault, if not they need to suck it up and show the fans how good they are . If they do that they won't need to worry about a negative atmosphere in the ground.

Wslgers can't you remember players getting booed in the first pre season friendly? heard nothing like that in a friendly game, this highlighted the fans didn't want Martin as manager, well it did for me.

23 Sep 2025 13:22:44
Dada go on to you tube and watch some of Martins conferences from his time as MK Dons, Swansea and Southampton manager. He quotes the same drivel and buzzwords at each club. These are just excuses ?.

23 Sep 2025 13:52:31
No we didn't want him mystar, results tell you why mate. It had disaster written all over it.

23 Sep 2025 14:03:58
Boy blue, I know that mate, but that is why the booing happened in a first pre season game, never seen nothing like it.

23 Sep 2025 16:58:18
Martin wasn't who fans wanted so as soon as anything went wrong the crowd turned quickly. booing at pre-season was the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen that early. It wasn't even our first team and was all because Martin wasn't wanted imo.

Also players were being asked to play a 'complicated' style where they take the ball in tight spaces under pressure, which requires confidence. did the negativity affect confidence so they started taking easy choices and pass ball back to where it came.

Martin has said he is trying to convince them the negativity isn't aimed at them but at him so perhaps that message is getting across to them. did the team bonding session actually work; was all the negativity before Hibs game rather than during it for a change so players didn't feel that pressure during game. perhaps the pre-game protest worked to remove the frustration of fans.

I don't know tbh but perhaps the Hibs performance will give team confidence and like that game when fans started to support it might be the start of turning the corner even if fans still down want Martin.

So yes getting to the truth, many just couldn't wait to give it to RM. i didn't want him but have never in many years bood any player coming on, or being on the park.

23 Sep 2025 17:57:26
Disappointed in that to mystar, something that I'll never do. I think that's proof the appointment should never have happened, it's like everybody and their dog knew he was wrong, apart from the people making the decisions. Still agree that booing in a p. s was pathetic mate.

I do remember them getting booed at half time in the Brugge friendly because they were shocking, I don't remember them getting booed at the end when they fought back in the second half. A wee bit of booing isn't a toxic atmosphere.
I was also at a game years ago when the fans were singing Ally Ally get to eff at a man who had the guts to turn it around and become a legend.
Time they all grow a set.
