Good morning Asathor,
How are you today? I hope you are well. ?
I had to sit and think about your post about Gerrard? I felt I had to give a counter reply to your post mate, I hope you don't mind? And remember I wasn't always for him.
Thestigno1 has written an article entitled, Steven Gerrard Deserves Respect For His Time At Rangers

Good article Stingo ? wins back to back leagues if he stayed imo, remember once he got his squad together it's was something like 23 months undefeated against that lot, still wouldn't be my choice though but he deserves more respect from some.

Great post Stig
I agree with a lot of that. Could we have done better in the cups? Absolutely, but ultimately Celtic were miles and miles ahead of us and had a huge financial advantage due to the circumstances of the previous decade.
I don't for a minute believe that Gerrard was flawless or that everything was rosey in the garden whilst he was here. However, the distance he took us from where we started to where we ended up was ridiculous. Essentially he was the man who built the squad that won the league title without being beaten and that squad subsequently took us to within a couple of kicks of our greatest ever achievement. That happened after inheriting a squad that was full of absolute dross.
If there's revisionism on one side with respect to him being brilliant then it's the same on the other side with people belittling what he achieved because of the trophy count. The context made it far bigger than that. The reality, as is always the case, is in the middle. He's not our greatest ever manager but he was a hugely significant part of our relative recovery and was a great fit for the club. ?.

Important thing about Gerrard he'd get players instant respect.

Stig since you have taken the time to write such a thoughtful article I will not be disrespectful and not respond.
I believe my post may have been taken out of context.
I have the utmost respect for the job Gerrard done in bringing the name of Rangers back in to European conversation and making us a respectable club once again.
My post pointed out that although he was the right man for a difficult stage of almost rebirth as a reputable power in Scottish football does not necessarily mean he is the right man for the role now.
I respect him and I am grateful for the title he did deliver but by no means would I want his return.

Good post stig. If people don't want Gerrard back fair enough, but the disrespect he gets on here at times blows my mind. Ppl seem to forget where we were when he came, to where we were when he left, absolute night and day in comparison.

Posted similar Asa elsewhere ??.
27 Sep 2025 14:04:21
No one said it was horrendous and everyone thanked him for winning 55 forget the 10 crap.
His record is woeful the same as every other manager we have had recently. Leaving stung a bit? The way he left was a disgrace.
No one can say for any certainty if we would have won league or not the season he left that's just pie in the sky as we will never know.
27 Sep 2025 14:23:58
Not sure the respect is there from you Asa.
You literally started a new post on the forum just to have a pop at him, repeating the 1 in 9 trophies, slinking away in the middle of the night, saying he had a horrendous record.
Saw all the usual talking points used to beat him over the head, but didn't see any respect in that post at all.

Great post Stig - we are going toe to toe for the longest posts ??☝️.
27 Sep 2025 14:31:35
Many points infront we he left and the tims couldn't beat his side, so it was more than likely he wins the league against, rather than him not winning it.
27 Sep 2025 14:42:50
Plus the fact he went undefeated the season before in winning the league with 25 points, that also points too the fact as well as being points infront and doesn't lose against his rivals that he wins it back to back.
27 Sep 2025 14:56:06
Exactly Marco he showed SG no respect with that post and has done similar in the past. Continually beating down or last title winning manager. It's ludicrous.
My star I agree with you SG would have went on to win the league that season had he stayed. He left for a better opportunity in the premier league getting 5 x the wage he was with us and to be closer to his family. The disrespect he gets is unbelievable and those people are not Rangers supporters to me ?.
27 Sep 2025 15:21:25
Brian ??.
27 Sep 2025 15:23:43
Celtic went on a massive unbeaten run that season so it was more than likely they won the league ?.
NO ONE can say for any certainty it's just guessing whether we would or wouldn't.
MVG asathor just telling the truth on the other post it's just some don't like facts.
27 Sep 2025 15:42:45
Points in front and don't lose against your rivals, easily favourites to win back to back leagues.
27 Sep 2025 15:47:50
Same as some don't like the facts backing him Storm!
The fact of the matter is no matter what you want to believe he's been our best manager since we came back up since no one else has won it
That's the fact of the matter.
Gerrard title winning manager
All others non title winning managers for Glasgow Rangers
I know who I'd have right now at-least we would have a chance and a chance in Europe I'd rather have a fighting chance than non at all fact!
