Also on any of the Gerrard rumours, I think that ship has sailed.

27 Sep 2025 11:40:23
I hope it's sunk, never mind sailed.

27 Sep 2025 11:55:25
Bobby ????.

27 Sep 2025 12:16:09
Bobby you'll be happy to read trueblue post above then, Martin staying for the season if his rumour is true
Know who I'd rather have.

27 Sep 2025 12:28:16
Stig I think the ship has sailed but I don't understand the utter distain and disregard that Gerrard gets from our support. He won the most important title of them all and it gets on my goat the fans that show him disrespect. The 1 in 9 is Tim patter for me ?.

27 Sep 2025 13:19:39
I'm not sure going back to Gerrard is the best way forward but I would give him the job right now if we could get rid of that imposter Martin.

27 Sep 2025 13:28:23
Wsl I would give Gerrard Butler the job over Martin ??.

27 Sep 2025 13:51:40
Bobby Gerrard is a million time better than Martin,
N I'd rather him a million times over

Least he knows how to get a team to play but most of all win games

Toss up between Gerrard n Martin

GERRARD ALL DAY LONG
brought up our most important league win
Martin couldn't bring an parcel in from his front door without passing back to butland.

27 Sep 2025 13:52:57
FB I don't get the clamour for him to come back and 1 in 9 is not Tim patter it's is factually correct.

27 Sep 2025 14:28:37
1 in 9 is just the reality Florida Bear.

I think Gerard did a good job, given where he started, and I agree the title he did win was one if the biggest in our history.

My issue with the Gerard clamour is that those who support it go entirely the other way. For every Rangers fan who undervalues his contribution there's one who over values it.

He wasn't (and isn't) the Messiah.

Of the Managers we've had since getting back to the Premier he's the best, no doubt, and he was just what we needed at that time.

But now, I think we need better.

Is he a better option than Martin? Well, clearly. You could run a raffle that picks any random one of us from the crowd for the day and we'd set up the team better than Martin for that day

But "is he better than Martin" isn't the question. The question is "can he topple Celtic consistently, over a prolonged period with the resources available to you? ".

He couldn't do that last time and chose to move on when he realised it. So, for me, that ship should continue to be sailed.

27 Sep 2025 14:33:09
Tims pattern for 90% of Rangers fans as well Florida.

27 Sep 2025 14:36:54
Good post Gdog and I take on board what you are saying. As I said in another post Gerrard is far from the messiah but he played a big part in our recovery.

1 defeat in his last 52 league games at Rangers. Unbeaten in his last 7 Old Firm games. With the bonus on top that he also built a team capable of reaching a European final. And he had that hunger and that relentless drive that can't be taught or learned.

For that alone I would welcome him back. Not everyone's cup of tea I understand that but what I don't understand is the ones who refer to him as a rat and snake. Those aren't Rangers supporters for me ?.

27 Sep 2025 14:37:35
Gdog behave man, by the time SG left he was beating Celtic with ease and we were going to win the league that year too. Once he had the team he wanted that is and if he had been backed then he would have toppled Celtic consistently!

Would I like SG back rather than RM. Yes of course but that's just because RM is absolute awful for us. I would however like us to move on and bring in someone else.

27 Sep 2025 15:00:55
In fairness Gerrard also wasn't backed neither was Clement really so our 2 better recent managers weren't given the means but our 2 recent worst ones were. Be interested to see how Gerrard might do with a bit of backing but i do worry if he got it a lot of fans would be against him like a lot were against Russell and that's not a good way to start off any managerial regime.

27 Sep 2025 15:11:59
I get it BBJ. He was the Messiah. ?.

27 Sep 2025 15:30:36
I don't get this "Gerard wasn't backed" either. He wasn't allowed to buy who he wanted the season after he won the league, sure, but he was responsible for driving the wage bill to higher levels than we've ever had to win that title in the first place.

Personally I think (overall) the "Gerard wasn't backed" narrative is complete fallacy.

27 Sep 2025 15:41:35
Where do I say he was the messiah? Again with the stupid comments because I countered what you said with facts.

I appreciate what he did for us and would have him over the current circus leader but I would want someone else ideally. Some of you lot really need to get a grip and stop spitting the dummies out when someone disagrees with you. Supposed to be a forum to discuss things and instead you have to respond with snide comments.

27 Sep 2025 16:27:46
Mate. Read my first post again.

In it, I said EXACTLY what you've just said, but you told me to "behave".

Did a good job, best subs we came back, need better now. Literally exactly your last post.

You're arguing with yourself at this point.

27 Sep 2025 17:41:26
Well if am not a real supporter Florida I better cancel my My Gers, Cancel my season ticket and my CCCS and no longer buy our merchandise.

27 Sep 2025 18:24:11
Gerrard 1 in 9 not good enough, simples. And no i'm not a tim.

27 Sep 2025 18:47:28
Keep saying to remember what he inherited, yeah it took him until the third season to win the league but he still did it and undefeated at that.
I also remember everybody saying in that title winning season, who cares about the cups, we want the big one, now its used as a stick to beat him.
The players he brought in were miles better than what we've had since despite more money being spent by successive managers than he did plus he gave us back our reputation in Europe earning vital cash in the process and brought in players for nothing that were sold for millions. He completely fulfilled the remit given to him by Dave King, not his fault that we have not built on his legacy.

27 Sep 2025 20:12:45
The above shows where we are as a fan base. We are so desperate we are capitulating and desperate for anyone and are willing to have mediocre candidates just to get RM out.

27 Sep 2025 22:15:49
More concerning is the bitching?.

27 Sep 2025 22:32:46
Gerrard wage bill up and up and up for average players.

27 Sep 2025 22:33:49
It seems all these ex epl guys are clueless when it comes to wages and transfer fees they are used to just flinging money around and we've seen that this year at Rangers with very little long term thinking if any.

27 Sep 2025 22:51:23
Fork the bitching is only happening because we're all hurting, we're all Rangers fans and we shouldn't be bitching with each other mate.

27 Sep 2025 22:58:57
Doubt Gerrard would come, even if offered silly money he can see the board are clueless and only get rid of people that strengthen the clubs potential and bring inferior replacements in, in return.
not enough forward movement for him to want to become involved with this mob running the clown show and not taking a solid stance and making a decision that should have been taken weeks ago, Gerrard knows coming now before the big changes that need to be made now, would only damage his management rep further.

Jefte, Dessers, Igamane, Koppen for example as well as loaning out Cortes and Cifuentes again.

an 18 year old football manager player could sort this out, it's that blatantly obvious what needs to be done even on a basic level to this back on track.

28 Sep 2025 06:59:58
Wasn't for SG Celtic would be going for 15 in a row this season, it would take us decades to overturn that, in recent seasons form perhaps 20 years or longer, so credit and respect to steven where it's due, he was brought in to stop 10 in a row and he not only done that but done it in impeccable style going the entire season undefeated, let that sink in and stop being so ungrateful like it was nothing, we have been an utter shambles nearly every season before and since he came and left.

The team he turned over into serious contenders in Europe again all the records the team broke both domestically and in Europe, he put this club back on he map and the world once again realised we were a serious team again, but teams feared playing us and we most often than not took on teams with 10 to 20 times our budget and squads raging from 350 mill to nearly 1 bill and smoked them home and away.

gimme a manager right now that could achieve half of that with the Dugs dinner Gerrard had to start off with and i'll bite both their hands off.

28 Sep 2025 10:54:50
My point is
A would take anyone
ANYONE over Martin
Gerrard had us unbeatable in europe at times
Teams feared drawing us
We were great

But between him and Martin
Gerrard all day every day
Even night
Long.
