2 pence for who plays in midfield between Lawrence and Cantwell. For me there’s absolutely no way I’d play Lawrence as he’s not got the legs for a game like this and was totally lost in the one at ibrox a few weeks ago. Barring a decent away performance to Benfica I’ve been pretty underwhelmed by Lawrence recently. Cantwell out of the 2 starts all day for me but as some have said I’d be tempted to start neither of them and put Sterling in the midfield and move Dio up one. We need running power in there and Sterling is the best athlete we’ve got. Only real positive I see of Sterling playing wide is that he has the pace and power to potentially destroy Greg Taylor. Frustrating we don’t have Sima fit to do the same to Johnston as he’s one we could get at as well.

Cantwell on the left could harm johnstone for me (plus ridvan if fit) . I feel we need a couple of curve balls like this sterling in middle all day would be more beneficial than out right. If sterling plays on right i'd bring in raskin to partner lundstram and diomande for the legs. Somerhing has to change from the previous games. Silva is a waste of time starting but may be handy off bench with matondo.
Finally souttar will be playing on the right side of the centre defence with davies on the left. Thrse are natural positions so there can be no excuses.

Sterling has the pace and strength to destroy Taylor?
Sterling is wasted at right wing is not and never will be a winger. I like the boy but we need to play him in his correct position.

Is Sterling much faster and stronger than Taylor? Yes. So he could and should comfortably beat him in both regards, destroy was hyperbolic. However, as I said that is the only benefit to playing him there. I also said I’d be playing him in the middle of the park which to me is his best position we’ve seen him in especially given we’ve basically never seen him play right back. Even if we had he’s not going to play there whether people like it or not. There’s absolutely no chance Tav is dropped/ moved this weekend or any game for the rest of the season barring injury.
Dado agree about Cantwell on the left not sure why we’ve never played him there when that was his position at Norwich.

lol storm it’s me who’s blind even though you’ve failed to read what I’ve said twice. At what point did I say he goes past left backs like they aren’t there? I didn’t because he doesn’t so my eyes do work thank you. Also to say Sterling isn’t faster than Greg Taylor is laughable. Mental to call someone blind with a take like that.

Not sure what your point is he won’t play right back and so will probably start in front of Tav up against Taylor, just like the post said.
