Watching the football game on Sky English second division and the thing that sticks out is the attendance, game on telly, rain pouring down and it's packed. Apart from the top 3 Scottish teams, would put our leagues to shame.

More of a family occasion down in Eng with great pubs and restaurants all round, not sure we have that up here. Its one thing I miss from living in Eng, the pubs are fantastic. Suppose it comes down to more money and more people at the end of the day, Sco is skint.

Hearts were at home to Celtic a couple of weeks back, 3rd in the league and their stands were half empty. That’s poor!

Just checked 9,700 was the attendance, big families?
Was mentioned that they were looking to expand the stadium as one end was uncovered .
I’m sorry TJB but how many London teams have welcoming fans?

The difference is the powers that be down there want it to work.

Sorry SE wasnt really talking about London. I lived in Buckinghamshire, I also have been in east Anglia. All fine parts of Eng, London is a different animal.

The population of Scotland is roughly 5/ 6 million, not everyone likes football (weirdos) and majority of football fans in Scotland support the big 2. The last team to win the league outwith old firm was it Aberdeen about 35 or so years ago? So younger ones knowing that could be another reason is to why they choose either side of old firm. Might be totally wrong but just my thoughts.

Most kids in Scotland turn up for training with EPL team strips on, under 10’s ect.
The tribal nature and hatred in Scotland excessive and puts a lot of parents off.

THBB, you are right about the pubs in England. I have lived in Hastings for the last 40 years and the pubs in the town are fantastic. There seems to be a different culture among people frequenting pubs down here and the live music scene is a big thing too. Hastings United play in the Isthmian Premier League and regularly get crowds of over 1000.

Hastings sounds like a nice place to live Doiger. There may be some on here that have been to a little town called Wendover due to a certain career choice, spent many a night in the George, what lovely area.
