Can someone explain to me the fascination with rubbishing our defence?
This season we have conceded the least amount of goals in the league
22/ 23 we conceded 3 more that the league winners
21/ 23 we conceded 9 more
20/ 23 we concede 13 less
Combined 3.5 years we have conceded 7 goals less that Celtic ~ seems to me that the defence are not the reason we have only won the league once in the last 3 years.

Some people are always waiting to criticise Goldson and Tav. For me the defence didn’t help us yesterday and most players across the whole pitch had a bad day. Goldson had one of his worst performances in a rangers jersey and Souttar made a criminal error for the first goal. It happens and we’re no worse off for it. Technically we’re in a better place than when we started the weekend so that’s good.

The defence had been good this year but Goldson has been poor for several weeks now.
Genuinely I think if Balogun is fit it’s time to try a pairing of Souttar and Balogun. Taking Goldson out the team until he regains his form.

For the past few seasons you will see my own grips is we have not invested in a prolific striker
we keep buying guys that are untested in the Scottish league whilst we have had a few who have shown for the smaller clubs they can do it in our league
I’m not talking Europe I’m talking the SPFl
Look at the combined prices of the striker we have brought in since the Gerrard days anyone got a calculator?
some don’t think shankland would be worth the price tag hearts would maybe have put in him but his goals are there to see he for me has proven he scores goals in our league his goals topped with tav and a few others In the team we could be winning more games and by more possibly more goals
3- 4 million on lammers - didn’t work out in our league maybe good in Holland but not for us
3-4 million Dessers misses a lot of chances inbetween scoring a few
Shankland out scoring these guys and out scoring Alfredo who most loved
Why not pay 3-4 million on someone we see week in week out scoring

The criticism of our team on here is appalling, I think. Much of it anger and frustration when we lose. Some should wait 24 hours before posting.
But if they did I wouldn’t be able to moan about them, so keep it up.

So you were happy with the CH’s performance against Motherwell?
Or the fact that IMHO, Tav looked lethargic against Motherwell? And wasn’t doing the basics good enough?
Or that Butland when he looks at the second goal will possibly think he could do better?
No matter the amount of goals conceded so far, the team should always strive to do better.
For me that’s not rubbishing the defence, that’s constructive criticism when it’s due.

Up until yesterday i had no real issues with the back line. Yesterday. Goldson got run all over from bair, souttar was terrible aswel. Butland could have don't better aswel i think. But don't think any body got pass marks the whole 11 seems so disjointed from 1st min.

Good question jfm, I think taking him out the team shows him his current form isn’t good enough and makes him more focused and try harder in training to get back into the team. Then slowly reintroduced to maintain his focus. The same you would do with any other position really.

Mr Potato I agree that the team didn’t play well and we were slow and off it most of the game, Butland has got credit with me though as he has bailed us out many times this season, his save on Wednesday was exceptional and kept us in the game, it was a free header at the back post and it squeezed in.

The answer why the defence has been better this year stands between the goalposts mate. Goldson needs either a rest or he needs replaced in sunmer as he's been ropey for a while now. Always caught with balls in behind and its like he is being targetted.

Storm, you’re missing my point ~ no-one was happy with the result or performance but most fans have been very content with the squads performances since PC came in.
One bad result following a weak performance against Killie and some fans cream themselves as the shred our defence again.
My point is that our defence has not stopped us winning the league 3 out of 4 years (we haven’t scored enough goals) but they get slaughtered at every turn.
Blue boy, 2 out of 4 including this season so far.

Souttar gets done for first goal but Goldson loses Blair in box and it’s a good finish. Second goal Diomonde has acres of space but takes bad touch loses possession , quick ball wide and a good cross and finish. Diomonde is to blame here. Plenty of chances to win this game but we are not clinical enough. Look at Ross county game 40 shots two goals eventually it catches up. Celtic are not great look at scales performance today he was as bad as our two yesterday to be honest. We are on right track under the manager but do feel we need our big players back asap.

I still think balogun has held us together a lot this season souttar is not a left cb goldson always seems to get caught in big games and your right on paper we are but what happens when we need to defend against celtic we seem to come up short
Goldson and balogun will be aging out soon Davies will be offski
So we need to sign defenders not rocket science.
