Guys as much as I celebrated Jacks goal against them it was a poor shot that got lucky. 1 goal in 18 months is shocking. Creates nothing and not sure why we need these type players to play in the spl. Europe is different and have watched us change before. In years gone by McInnes would play in Europe. Hemdani etc. But to have 2 defensive midfielders come on! . It's footballers we need like Kent etc. Ian Ferguson was a defensive midfielder but could still stick a pass through. We need creativity not someone to pass it sideways 2 yards. My grannie could do that. We need to wake up a bit or 55vis a long way off.

I totally disagree, Jack is a superb grafter, does a lot of the ugly work on a football pitch. Maybe not the most creative but a player every team needs.

Surely the idea of Jack is that he does all the hard graft, tireless running and ugly parts of the game, breaking up play etc, then just give the ball to one of the more creative players, thankless tasks and sometimes under appreciated. i'm not comparing him by the way but players like Makalele, Kante etc are lauded in the premiership (Kante this season for Chelsea has played more advanced and actually scored a few) .

I think our problem is playing 2 of them together, especially at home to the smaller teams, i can see why it worked so well against Celtic but definitely hinders us when teams come and sit in but that's maybe due to the fact Murphy, Dorrans etc have been out injured and the balance of midfielders that we have had have been tipped more toward defensive mids.

Now we have Kent, Candeias, Arfield, Davies fit and Murphy, Dorrans nearing a return maybe we will shape up slightly differently.

Some games need 2 grafters who can tackle, we wouldn't have beat Tims with anything less as that's how we won the midfield. We used to have Ferguson and McCall in there. always felt that was where Warburton failed us.

Jack does loads of work off the ball, no scared of a tackle and is a far better player than McCrorie or Coulibally. You say 2 defensive midfielders and I agree - probably only need 1, but that 1 would be Jack.

Would disagree with your assertion that Jack is not in the team to score goals. All midfielders should look to chip in with goals.

Ayrranger- Dorrans is a bit injury prone the answer is to bring Docherty back from his loan spell at Shrewsbury a box to box midfielder who also can score goals.

Just seen young Greg Docs goal from yesterday. Hope the boy is going to return at end of season and isn't sent out again on loan.

I will be honest and say never truly been a Ryan jack fan. If we are to go with one defensive midfielder I much prefer young McCrorie in that position. He is not as good on the ball as Jack but I think he is far quicker, more aggressive and gives the back four far more protection.

Jack and Arfield were useless at Kilmarnock.
Jack couldn't pass water and Arfield was overrun by the Killie midfield.
Both should be dropped for Livingston Sunday.

Ryan jack should be the first name starting in our midfield against livingston tomorrow! He's way and far the best defensive midfielder at ibrox, bar none!

I thought SG tried something a bit different against Kilmarnock with the diamond 4 in midfield. They took it in turns to drop back and to attack between Jack, Davis, Kent and Arfield. This can be a very effective system if played right but can also be difficult. Once their goal went in we lost the fluidity a bit and struggled. If this is his system then may take time to bed in.

Not often I agree with supercoop but Jack is our best defensive midfielder. Hope SG has been watching Docherty, he's doing alright down the road. Would like to see him getting a run next season.

It won’t be popular but I think it should’ve been Kent to make way for Defoe. A diamond midfield of McCrorie Jack Davis and Arfield can still be effective IMO. Agree with you guys about the team that played Celtic should’ve started but we would still have been missing Goldson and that left us vulnerable. For tomorrow I’d go:

Arfield, Defoe and Middleton all to appear from the bench.

I don’t know what people see in jack to be honest he has been rotten since the 1st day he walked thru the door, he wouldn’t be anywhere near the rangers team for me.

Docherty's goal against wolves today was superb, and he set up the second goal, rated by commentators as the best player on the pitch, including all the wolves players!

Dorrans then Greg Doc are the most creative best two midfielders.

What's there the now can't pass a ball or create a cup of coffee, and take responsibility when the chips are down, as was clear at Rugby park midweek.
