Rangers Statement:-
RANGERS can confirm we took part in a multi-agency meeting this afternoon with representatives from the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council, Police Scotland and Celtic FC.

This is to continue an open and constructive dialogue in relation to the upcoming Old Firm fixture at Parkhead on Sunday, March 21. We are pleased that today's meeting was very constructive and we have agreed to support the 'stay at home' message.

Rangers would like to reiterate manager Steven Gerrard's comments from last weekend, for supporters to stay at home and ensure the safety of themselves and others.

We are cognisant of the ongoing fight against C.V. and ask that everyone follows Government guidance to stay at home.

The club will continue to liaise with all agencies as well as a number of supporters. We will continue to work to ensure that the clubs message is reiterated over the coming week and will provide further updates in due course.

When is a decision being made?

13 Mar 2021 12:09:25
Bandwarmy? What decision? Game is going a head.

13 Mar 2021 12:13:12
David McCarthy is a boyhood bluenose right enough 👍.

13 Mar 2021 12:43:42
Wasnt aware that game on had been confirmed.

13 Mar 2021 13:18:57
Is he SGL? Are you sure about that mate?

13 Mar 2021 13:29:23
Regardless of what team he supports it’s still a decent article.

Yes i am BMGH01 👍 He done an article regarding the 50th anniversary of the tragic ibrox disaster there in january. He spoke about his dad being at the old firm game at ibrox that day and actually moving from staircase 13 that day as it was too crowded! David McCarthy stated in his report that his dad didn't take him to the game that day, but did then state his dad took him to ibrox as a young boy every other game. It was a terrific heartfelt report he did regarding the ibrox disaster mate.

Very decent article, and someone who sees the situation objectively rather than using it as a cheap points scoring exercise 👍.

13 Mar 2021 14:15:33
There you go mate, I didn't know that. I worked at the record for a few years when it was the trinity mirror group, and to say it was rare to find too many Rangers fans there, would be an understatement. It was probably because it was under the control of a strong celtic minded element, and any Rangers fan probably kept their allegiances to themselves.

13 Mar 2021 14:32:40
I just read both articles SGL, and they are indeed well written pieces. The Ibrox disaster article is a profound bit of journalism (a rareity these days)

13 Mar 2021 14:47:30
SGL is correct, McCarthy was a bluenose. I knew him from when he was a junior reporter and I was, let's say, more senior. There were a fair number of Gers fans on the Record staff at the time, not only on the sports desk, and at the Herald and the Express. You should have heard the cheering from the press box at times! But that was about 25-30 years ago and things have radically changed since then. So apart from the usual SGL over-egging of McCarthy's article it is correct to say he's one of us.

BMGH01,keith jackson was a boyhood bluenose also mate, but i'm sure you'll know that pal👍.

13 Mar 2021 15:01:52
David McCarthy i've always rated as a very good football journalist mate 👌I always like reading his reports 👍.

13 Mar 2021 15:03:36
Band it was never cancelled so didn’t have to be confirmed.

13 Mar 2021 15:16:01
I heard it was different days then tavsloyal. Shame it went the other way!
Unfortunately, when I was there it was under the leadership of Holinshead and Rennie, both of whom I'm sure you know of? If anyone doesn't, these are the guys who set up the PR firm Holicom which Holinshead runs. I'm sure everyone knows plenty about them, and who they looked after, don't yous?
I was there when Jim Traynor left, and although not everyone's cup of tea, he never missed them when he wrote that piece on them.

13 Mar 2021 15:25:57
I know all about Jackson SGL mate, but any allegiances he had were cut the day he pimped himself out as lawell's mouthpiece at the record. Jackson would sell his soul and dignity to whoever would advance his career.
When I was there Scotty Mcdermott, Colin Duncan and Jim Traynor were known Rangers fans. Big Gary Ralston was always fair with Rangers and had a soft spot, but I'm sure he was a Hearts fan (could be wrong there, though) Gary had a close link to Dave King and the 3 bears and he was one of their go to guy at the record. A cracking big guy!

Tavsonloyal, over egging a terrific piece of journalism by david McCarthy on the ibrox disaster what kind of statement is that mate 🤔
Common!

13 Mar 2021 17:09:22
It's a statement saying you over-egged it! You made things up that he didn't say, and exaggerated other pieces of the article.
