What's everyone's thoughts on the pen near the end? I only saw it from Rangers tv but there manager was adamant it was a pen. Why did var not intervene if it was so blatant. From what I saw its not a pen.

Never a penalty, the Motherwell player initiated contact then fell over.

Looked to me like the player initiated contact - type of incident that we've seen a little to often from Gassama.
Haven't watched it back mind you, so could be way of it.

It was contact initiated by the forward. you see his foot and leg coming out to get close to defender to even make contact. Fernandez had actually pulled out of tackle as he knew the issue.

I thought it looked like a pen and we got away with one. I'd certainly be claiming it if it was the other way round.

You can have contact but still not a pen.
That's what it looked like, a coming together with minimal contact and the Motherwell player went down as soon as he felt it.
Would have been soft to award it but saw softer incidents been awarded.
Watched their penalty last night against Livingston, where the Livingston player was pushed off balance with his hand slightly raised, the ball hits it at speed and they award it.
Worries me that is a pen as I can see that happening regularly with all the jostling that goes on in the box.
And no way is that awarded a penalty each time it happens and that is the problem with those incidents.

It looks to me as stated above attacker kicks Fernandez leg and falls over but also from the angles I've seen the ball does slightly change direction suggesting Fernandez gets a touch on the ball as well. So regardless of it being a dive or not I think he plays the ball first.

I felt it was actually a booking for their player. Never a penalty.

Sitting in the Copland it looked like a dive, haven't seen it back yet so maybe wrong.

I'd still mark it as seen them given and if we're denied one like that on the 3rd against them I'd be raging.

I've just watched it a few times albeit from one angle and it looks like a pen, would need the benefit of more angles to be sure though, camera angles can deceive.

I sit in the Copland next to away fans. Had a really good view of it and straight away thought ref got it right.
