Keep seeing we need a core of scottish players, when was the last time a team with a core of scottish players won the league? Its not the 70-80s anymore. Any decent scottish players get snapped up with clubs down south who offer astronomical wages so we have no chance of signing them, and the ones we could maybe sign their team want stupid money for them.
Outwith McGregor who was the last good proper scottish player we had? Was it Ferguson? If that's the case then it shows the talent pool was very very small. Many have slipped through the net as it does in many other countries/leagues players don't need to be scottish the need to ne good regardless of nationality, recruitment is where the blame lies period.

Kingandulster, I take your point but I'm not sure if Ryan Jack in his prime could maybe fall into that category?

Jack spent half his Rangers career injured this is a fact he doesn't come close. We've also had a Scottish core before 16/1717/18 and it was awful. We do need some more physical players but we also need some experience of quality then u bleed in youngsters with them.

Celtic won 9 in a row with a core of 5 or 6 scottish players. Sorry for the memories folks but it's trfue!

King and Ulster, Kenny Miller, naismith both good Scottish players here after Ferguson. Take your point since we have returned from div 3 outwith mcgreggor not had many jack on his day but always injured.

Strange logic that only a few Scots were any good so don't go for them. 95% of players since Gerrard were non Scots and not good enough so by that logic we shouldn't sign non Scots either. McGregor was our best GK in recent years, Souttar is our best Defender, Barron is out shining anyone in midfield Jack was one of our best Midfielders tho sadly injured too often. And Arfield hasn't been mentioned perhaps because played for Canada but is very much Scottish and is still probably better then those playing just now.
Before that we had the likes of Boyd Miller Naismith Whitaker etc. We need to stop ignoring the Scots around us like we did for Ferguson Hickey Doig Miller Shankland Mulligan and others etc all who would walk into our team, imagining all roads lead to England.

Soutter is very poor and Barron runs about and has heart but pretty poor as well. Agree with Jack but like you said injuries ruined him. Every youth player who gets in our starting 11 majority on here say the will be amazing and bring us mega money in the future but in reality they chase the money and end up in league 2 in England.

Maybe true King but are those others we've signed and for far more been better? there's decent talent up here too that. That's all I'm saying for those that wish to look down on it.
