So if we are 3rd at the end of the season, we drop into the 2nd qualifying round of the conference league. Win the Scottish cup we hit the Europa League. I can't no mater what happens in this window see us bringing in enough to get 2nd. Financially I believe we need to reduce that squad to around 22 and go from there.

Agree with the chance of finishing 2nd and don't see the January window as being this utopia that will make us a different force.
It's going to take time and unfortunately it is looking more likely that we could start next season on the back foot as you say.
I always thought this window was a chance to bring maybe two or three in with hopefully a few leaving and then building to have a better go next season.

I fancy a crack at the Conference League! I know it means less revenue but that's on the board to make it up with commercial deals due to their rubbish show in the summer.

DannyRohl has given us false optimism with the results he's been achieving. This squad are miles away from winning the title and any other season it would have been over. They lack everything, talent, heart, fight, experience, nous and we need a complete squad rebuild, which won't be achieved in the January window. If we get a shot at any kind of European qualification next summer it will be a bonus and will mean that Danny has somehow got a tune out of them in the second half of the season.
We were let down yesterday not just by the new signings but by guys like Butland, Tavernier, Raskin and Diomande who should at least be able to carry out their roles in the team even if they are not good enough to help others.

Signings in the Summer are not the only things that's killed us this season. The so-called leadership group have also cost us dearly. Not one player amongst them is irreplaceable. Take as much money in as possible for Danilo, Raskin, Diomande and Butland (if any club is interested) and pay off Captain Fantastic if needs be.
We all know Martin and Thelwell have a lot to answer for but those imposters are not down to them.

Imagine hearts make CL groups. Sides they can face in play offs aren't that great if they win league. If we fail to qualify all together for Europe that would be a killer for us.

Gers
Sounds like your dissing Rohl getting team he had no power in. But he's getting sweeter tune out players bought and failed by RM. I think high priority should be selling RM duds to allow DR make own additions.

I agree Miller try and move them on but are we willing to take a hit on them.
We are hardly in a position of strength trying to offload players that are not playing or told they can leave.

I firmly believe it'll take Rohl 2 or 3 Windows to bring the players to see the best of him as a manager. Will he get that long? Who knows.

I knew we were in trouble at the start of the season when it was said that the leadership group included Dowell, a guy who had been out on loan and never been able to hold down a first team place never mind be a leader.
That was red flag about the lack of experienced leaders left in the squad after Martin and Thelwell had rebuilt the squad.

On the plus side, Sterling has looked the part again. Bear in mind we've got Souttar and Cornelius out too, bring in a creative midfielder and winger and a goalscorer, i'd fancy winning the league. We could make up 9 points on Hearts in a month.
