Just seen the interview with steven gerrard and ally mccoist and gerrard revealed why he left Rangers and it's bang on what i said on here all along and was told i was wrong by a few posters on here ?Well guys gerrard has revealed to ally mccoist that he didn't want to leave Rangers and he did leave because of the lack of backing on certain players he wanted to sign to stay out in front of Celtic and remain top dogs ?Like i said from when he left he was too ambitious for our board at the time so there you have it one and all ?.

The main reason he didn't get backed further is because the money we lost n covid season. He got backed plenty before that. And he should have took the money for morelos (who he said in interview was unreliable) to reinvest.

Agreed Dado, he was given plenty time and money and returned 1 trophy - albeit an important one. But did not sell players at their peak value eg Morelos, Kent and Kamara.

You have to take this in context, this was just after COVID and the board had had to pay out money during the time where fans were not allowed to attend matches, so they didn't have the cash to back him. He had been heavily backed during the previous three seasons, they brought in Lundstram and Sakala on Bosmans and they did what he wanted by not selling Morelos, Kent etc at a time where they were highly valued.
He had more than enough to win the league the season he left but our failure to make the CL probably cost him reinvestment in the squad and also was a blow to him personally.

SWS do you not think that he would say what he said just to make him look better. Read online he also said he needed the right tools around him. he obviously didn't have that at Villa or in Saudi either then. He also mentions the board not getting Veerman signed but the reports at the time and even now was that Veerman didn't want to sign. so nothing about money but a player not wanting to come. He did tell one thing that cannot be denied: that he isn't a magician.

Every manager says they want more than they get. He was massively backed and overspent and didn't want to work with what he had anymore. He's gone it's been covered time and again. He's just trying to become relevant again. As he keeps saying, I'll only take a job if everything is perfect to be successful not I will work hard to make things successful.
