100% I'd sign gogic. Exactly type of defender we need. Will also be low cost.
23 Dec 2025 09:55:43
He's another of the players Ferguson wanted us to sign, along with Shankland and Mulligan. Can't say I disagree with him.
23 Dec 2025 10:03:17
Davie i also think gogic would be a good signing for us, especially in the domestic side of things for us and is proven in our league ? Here's a question davie ie. if you had the choice between gogic the st. mirren centre half or stuart findlay the hearts centre half, who would you prefer Rangers signed mate ?Both imo would be good signings ?.
23 Dec 2025 10:47:26
Kaiser everyone and their mothers were on here and social media saying we should sign these players and Barry is just copying people were saying to make it look like he should of got the job.
I'd take Gogic been saying it for a while but watch him suddenly get sent off a lot more when playing for us. No to Findlay, might be having a good season but if I remember he was awful for killie last season whilst Gogic has been consistently good especially against us and Celtic since joining St Mirren.
23 Dec 2025 10:48:00
Cmon guys we need to be challenging for a league title and trophies.
I know we are struggling at the moment but we aren't going to win things with Alex Gocic at St Mirren.
Different ball game playing for Rangers and you need more than being a workhorse.
Let's see where the next couple of windows take us and hopefully forward.
23 Dec 2025 10:54:40
Not a hope in hell is this guy the standard, I do get that we're on course to finish 3rd (hopefully) but signing players to keep us in the top 6 is not what's required.
I'd also say let's go for quality over quantity. I really hope we sign 3 quality players in January rather than 8 out and 8 in.
23 Dec 2025 10:58:25
Rather have halket at hearts.
23 Dec 2025 11:02:42
Rosevale hearts have a team of spl players and they are 12 points clear. If we had signed shnkland and others we would have more points.
23 Dec 2025 11:05:14
I don't agree rosevale feel grit needed and players like Gocic bring that - mulligan and shankland we no brainers but not to be - all our past successful sides had grit and dig - brown - Iain Ferguson and so on - needed for this tough league we play in - need guys that go through the ball and can win headers and tackles - doesn't need to be a load of them but a few in your team helps to win the battles - we look powder out at times and need some steel.
23 Dec 2025 11:24:03
Mulligan would have been good although he chose hibs over Rangers.
23 Dec 2025 11:56:16
That's your opinion Jason but not one that I share.
At the start of the season apart from Shankland did anyone on here say we should be signing the likes of Cammy Devlin.
We have had a poor recruitment summer again but we have to be better in the market and get more out of the players we have with better experience around them.
Said before it's different pressures playing for the old firm.
23 Dec 2025 12:00:07
I get you need grit Ally but that's not enough to be a centre half for us.
Big Souttar is testament of that, he's a Scottish centre half and honest big player who is decent but he's struggled with pace and movement when the level goes up.
Gogic would be found wanting as well in games as you can't just sit in with Rangers, you have to be comfortable on the ball and willing to play a higher line.
23 Dec 2025 12:08:16
Paul86, I'm pretty sure Mulligan was all set to join us like Shankland was only for RM come in and say he didn't want them.
23 Dec 2025 12:13:23
Also Ally added to grit Ian Ferguson was a right good footballer, he was a good passer and comfortable on the ball.
Can't just buy players that have just grit they have to have more ability than that.
23 Dec 2025 12:13:33
Jason that's irrelevant. It's one thing playing for Hearts with very little pressure. It's a completely different experience coping with the pressure of playing at Rangers. Just because they are top with Hearts, doesn't mean if you transferred them over to Rangers they would be the exact same as Hearts.
23 Dec 2025 12:13:58
Gogic has won more than us this year.
23 Dec 2025 12:37:21
Brown and Ferguson brought a lot more than grit, both were extremely talented players who could play in different positions. They were also Scottish and Rangers men so they brought that knowledge with them too.
Gogic nowhere near as good as those two.
As for Halkett, he has had a major injury issues over the last couple of years and that's definitely not what we need more of.
23 Dec 2025 12:40:52
How would Gogic or Findlay deal with the pressure of needing to win every week? I know we are all hurting with the summer window but signing average spl players will get us nowhere.
23 Dec 2025 12:47:59
I get both sides here but who do have that is really connected to the club, isn't looking for the next big move, wants or understands what's required to win. That last line is the only data that's important.
If you have a pragmatic coach, then you need different individuals with different strengths. Our league must have battlers and ballers that offer more than the current crop.
23 Dec 2025 12:59:46
Most of these guys mentioned are good players for their respective clubs like Hearts and St Mirren but not for the old firm.
Remember if they are stand outs then it wouldn't be just us that would be interested.
But you need to have more attributes than just being tough.
I.
23 Dec 2025 13:52:09
Andy goram, davie Robertson, Neil mcann, Kris Boyd, Gordon petric, Duncan Ferguson, Darius adamczuk, nacho novo, Kenny Miller and many others all came from within our own league and stepped up to the plate when required. We, along with Celtic always signed up the best of the rest in the league and it's never hurt us before. Guys like Delvin, gogic, shankland and a few others all have proved themselves in this league! We shouldn't be looking down our noses at talented league players that have earned there right to be discussed as potential signings.
Walter signed many an spl player n most never let us down. Guys if we turn our noses at these proper talented hard working pros it will only end in the same way as McGinn, Doig, hickey, Ferguson and the like.
With the state both old firm clubs are in we should be snapping these guys up before they get a move that makes them far too expensive for us to sign …. I. e …. Ferguson!
Sometimes ( it's been proven in the past) it's better the devil ye know!
23 Dec 2025 13:54:51
so has their whole team gers1980, should we just sign all of them?
23 Dec 2025 14:09:54
The usual snobbery about SPL players. Successful Rangers teams have always signed top performing SPL players.
23 Dec 2025 14:25:55
Rosevale -IMHO The boy is grittier than some of the cowards who wear light blue at present - every team needs grit and dig to compliment the skilful players so let's not kid ourselves with the quality that is needed - we have some quality in squad at moment its fight, determination and leadership we truly lack ?.
23 Dec 2025 14:34:27
Sorry Gers I don't agree with that take at all.
Kenny Miller and Duncan Ferguson had interest from clubs down south before we managed to get them in and yes Kenny developed into a very good striker.
What can we do with Gocic at his age.
He likes to sit deep and not get drawn out and granted he battles hard, but how does that align with us wanting to play a certain way out from the back and pushing up to press the opposition.
If we played Gocic when we lose possession he would be exposed as he is not quick.
Said before Gocic and Devlin are not who we should be looking at and pretty confident the club won't be either.
23 Dec 2025 14:45:44
Blue but St Mirren sit in and are happy to soak up the pressure they don't need to be expansive.
We don't want nor would the fans want us to play that way.
How would he be when we push up higher to dominate teams, he can't drop back too early as we have saw Souttar caught out with that and Souttar is a better all round player for me.
You need to be quick and comfortable in possession.
I've watched Gocic he clears his lines fair enough and plays it up the line, works for St Mirren but not for a Rangers player.
23 Dec 2025 15:16:27
I don't think Adamczuk got a game.
23 Dec 2025 15:43:05
Paul no he didn't we pulled out as Martin didn't want him.
23 Dec 2025 16:23:00
a list of SPL players who had some success at Rangers 9all pre 2012 as well) but can't be bothered giving a list of those who we did sign and were poor so will just give 2: Michael O'Halloran and Jordan Jones. two of the most talented players who played for opposition but didn't turn up for us at all or rarely.
so some of those named may succeed but it is difficult to judge whether they or any overseas player will have the mentality to do well until they get here.
what we do know is that they play for teams who look to defend against us and do that well. How in the main do they do against the other teams in the league? I suggest not as well otherwise there would be EFL1 and Championship teams all over them.
23 Dec 2025 19:03:04
Anyone thinks yogic could t do a job for us just remember the name Marvin Andrews.
23 Dec 2025 19:18:54
Angus they are loads that have came and been rotten. Murphy wasn't great. Hastie as you say the list is a lot but fans have short memories.
