There is no comparing alves to skrtal. Alves was more of a reading the game and positional sense centre half. Skrtel is more of a no nonsense hard tackling throw your body on line centre half that can bully centre forwards.
I recon he would be a great addition especially in Europe still only 34 so 2 good seasons left in him.
Also will help our younger CHs with his experience.
If he signs I would make him Captain.

We've got a captain, who goes of the name james tavernier. Fed up reading this crap on here all the time, ie. make this player captain,
make that player captain. James tavernier will do for me, unless he's sold of course.

As much as I like tav SGL he ain't no captain. I've have been lucky to have witness big butcher, gough Fergy and big Ammo. I have never once seen tav giving any of players stick when their performance ain't up to scratch. When we have been struggling in certain game he should be shouting and balling telling players to get their finger out. But that's not his nature. The only player I see shouting and gee our players up is shagger.
And because it's not your option doesn't mean its crap. We all have opinions and mine is Tav ain't no leader.
