The disappointment from last night has turned to pride.
Proud of Clement and a squad that has got us this far.
Proud of the magnificent Ibrox support who have made Europa League Thursday's special.
From the brilliant Tifo by the UB daring us all to dream at the start, to willing the players on to the final whistle.
From a squad at the bare bones, the team gave their all.
There is no shame losing to a team like Benfica. A team who's next superstar of their production line is being touted at £100 million!
For me, we just lacked a calmness and a quality in the final third.
And to be honest I think we all knew in our heads that when we turned to the bench to freshen it up and it was a choice between youngsters and players returning from injury then it was all over.
But that doesn't stop our hearts telling us different. We all wanted that late equaliser and grandstand finish. But it wasn't to be.
It's now onwards and upwards to Dundee away on Sunday.
Before an International Break - which I normally hate - that has come at possibly the right time.
When we return we have what are potentially really important games as we strive to win the SC but more importantly the league.
What's still not to love? ?⚪?.

MPH ; i agree with most of your post but to single out the final third i'm not so sure, our midfield wasnt on it last night especially Diomande thought he was lost at times we created next to nothing i can't think of any clear cut chances Dessers or Roofe missed, it was a bad mistake that cost us committing ten men into their box at a corner when we never won a first ball night a break out three passes and bang were out we win as a team and loose as a team.
After all that to top our group and qualify for the last sixteen is an achievement in its own then to be clear at the top of the league one trophy in the bag and in the last four of the other is progress big game on Sunday huge three points then the break to rest players and maybe get some players back.

Nail on the head MPH. Was so disappointed last night at the result but the bigger picture is as you’ve suggested. Some amazing memories from following across Europe this season once again but now it’s now 9 cup finals in the league and the SC semi. The league is all that matters, the cup a nice bonus. On to Dens then rest and regroup and get some players back in.

100% agree MPH.
Thursday nights have bee fantastic but I see this as a blessing in disguise.
With the title on the line and the injury’s we have we need to be 100% focused on the league with no distractions.

We were ridiculed for calling Beale a fraud at the start but we were vindicated.
The treble is in reach and it is down to phillipe clement for that.

Wouldn't have win the Europa league anyway. Liverpool would've destroyed this Rangers team. Benfica are the poorest side of the 8 left and will definitely go out next round.

MPH driving home from the game last night I was like you and was disappointed. By the time I got home that had turned to pride as I believe once again we gave our all. Special note to fellow bears who have attended this amazing run again home or away you make Thursday nights special. Atmosphere second to none and last night I hoped once the final whistle went we would stand and recognise how much we’ve gone forward under PC (remember this team have a player being touted he’s going to Bayern in the summer for anything between £100m to £150m if reports are to be believed) . Whatever we achieve this season from where we were before PC took over will be a bonus.

Yeah agreed they done us proud. But were craving a really good centre forward. Would help us alot. Hoping we danilo can get a good chance when back fit. Think/ hope dessers moves on in the summer.

Excellent post tattie. Who would have thought the day Beale left, that we would be getting knocked out by benfica in last 16 Europa, league Cup in the bag and topping our rivals by 2 points? Nobody would have. So let's enjoy where we are and think about where we could have been without pc.

A very measured post. I reckon that hardly anyone realizes the toll that mid-week European games takes on any team. Newcastle United finished bottom of their CL group, Brighton out last night too. Rangers performed strongly and the whole adventure has galvanized the players and supporters for the treble and I really think we will do it now.
