I would like to say a huge thanks to Stuart McCall and Kenny Black for your efforts you guys were always on a hiding to nothing with the lot you inherited, I'm sure like most people on here will say you'll always be welcome at Ibrox.
Thank god it's not Billy Davies.
Good luck to Mark & Davie I'm happy with the outcome but would have preferred a Director of coaching as well, only going a ask 4.things 1. Let's play attractive football 2. No more rangers old boys 3. Give youth a chance and finally 4. Get us promoted and back were we belong follow follow.

Stuart McCall came across with his usual class with his comments in the papers today.

As for Warburton and Weir, yes it is a gamble but any management team is. Personally I think its a great appointment. Good luck to the pair of them and I am already looking forward to seeing us play some entertaining football played at Ibrox. Long time since we have.

It's definitely the correct appointment and hopefully now things will be built through a youth system and with an attacking style of play, however, also need to be patient and give Warburton time to plant the seeds for success.
Also a wee reality check as to where he has come from. Brentford ain't Real Madrid so let's not get too carried away just yet!
Here's hoping he can improve the players he brings in because that's been our downfall even before all this mess. I can't think of many who have improved and moved on to bigger and better things in last decade or so.
Fans should go buy season tickets and support this guy and give him some cash to invest in team.

Realistically we are looking at free transfers and maybe some small transfer fees for youth players. I'm hoping to hear good things tomorrow at the press conference. As in how much we have to spend, how we expect to afford another season in the championship with no income etc.

14 Jun 2015 22:01:37
A big gamble . Obviously King thinks that bringing in a manager who hasn't failed means the fans will buy season books in their thousands .
There is still the problem of where the money will come from to give the two W's any funds to buy any players . Rangers need up to a dozen players . We know Warburton bought MacLeod for £800 off Rangers and he didn't do much for Brentforf .
There must have been some break down in relations which meant he left his only job Seems he has had good links with Celtic .

14 Jun 2015 22:24:52
Sacked from Brentwood.Opted for Celtic youth in the next generation series overlooking what Murray park had on offer. so at least he knows youth can be nurtured & progressive. He's the calibre of manager who should have been brought in 3 years ago.Yet DK's wanting to spend spend spend, will they ever learn?OPM will be his outlet

1 5

{Ed001's Note - he was not sacked by Brentford.}

Here we go again, how many times , I know you are desperate for good news and progress but for gawds sake! Anya! 2 million pounds players , you have a 10 million. A year black hole in your finances, as a man on the telly said "gonnae no date that"

15 Jun 2015 00:53:35
Wartburton left Brentford by mutual agreement, he didn't believe in solely using statistical modelling when signing players, something the Brentford owner wished to implement i.e. the 'moneyball' approach

15 Jun 2015 01:08:03
Yes Chris, he did state that he had links with Celtic for the nextgen series and this means what?!?

Don't get greedy , some of these cost money . Rangers got in trouble before spending money they don't have . The long term future of Rangers is to cut their expenditure to match their income .

I think McCall would have been a better choice . He would have known more about the players available that Rangers could sign .
McCall didn't get the job because, he wouldn't have excited the fans into buying tickets . King reckons the fans will go for someone who is a real rookie

0 3

14 Jun 2015 22:47:57
What's up with getting a rookie?i believe your all coming in your pants over your own manager who I would have classed as a rookie but is proving to be doing a good job at your club!a lot of your fans didn't want him bit the guy came in and had good season and sorted out a lot of the players!hopefully ours does the same

Ha ha priceless! The wise old soothsayer got it wrong so he chips in with the old paranoia card! You know I have a funny feeling that there's going to be some pressure on Delia this season, especially when they get their seasonal humping in the qualifiers.

Warburton and weir will lead our club for the next 3 years. I think the hard times will be behind us veey soon fellow bears.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

14 Jun 2015 18:10:27
We will have hard times until the fans realise we are not able to buy great players anymore and the running costs seem to be crippling the club. Its hardly ideal 75p in every £10 goes to club and sports direct own our merchandise. Still a long way from sorting the club

I have to say i'm well pleased with the Warburton appointment. i'm still not 100% convinced about king just yet but he deserves credit for making the appointment. I expect Warburton to sign young hungry players with his previous work the young players first players i'd like to see signed would be scott allan, stuart dallas and lewis mccloud from Brentford.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

14 Jun 2015 15:40:28
I would be very surprised if MacLeod came back to the Rangers. Due to injury the boy hasn't had his chance and I'm sure he would rather see how things went this season for him then decide his future. Sure anyone would at least want to give it a go down there before coming straight back up.

Is there anything in this G#dammed world that is going to satisfy Rangers supporters.
We have been dredging the depths of all things imaginable with so called fans from other teams delving into our history, our way of life and anything in the world that will go towards upsetting the status quo.

Rangers are now going forward ---- it is going to take time, any reasonable thinking man (not just a fan) will see that time is of the essence until this whole scenario unfurls.
We,Rangers football club, no matter what you think of us will, like the Pheonix, rise again and soar like the eagle.

We have now taken the first tentative steps forward and very soon the first signs of growth will gradually emerge to spread a little joy throughout our great club

------ FORWARD RANGERS ------

Really excited with the news about the new management team, hopefully confirmed tomorrow officially. This is what we need, we must give them time to build a team, I hope they have some signing targets already lined up. The next three years will see a huge step forward for the team the club, and the fans, we will be back leaner meaner and better.Good luck to Mark and big Davie. We are all behind you, bring us the success our great support deserve.

Appointing a rookie on a nod and a wink is one thing .
Even rookie managers want to spend money , if Warburton doesn't get what he thinks the nods and winks spent , he may not stay long .

ED001, hooly78 stated below that you dealt with Mccoist and found him to be money orientated, in what way ed I've found the opposite and would be interested to hear other peoples experiences with him.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - his choices regarding what he does are all about money. As in joining Sunderland for more money, going to Question Of Sport for the money when he had the chance then to go back to Rangers but the money was not as good. This is his business, not his hobby. He does 100% love Rangers, but he puts money ahead of that.}

14 Jun 2015 13:40:22
I've got no issue with McCoist and the package he's entitled to in terms of his contract and have no doubt he's a dyed in the wool Rangers fan and I backed him in the hope he'd grow into management.

It appears he let loyalty and friendship to some players cloud his judgement on selection and recruitment. He avoided risk where he could, said he didn't concern himself with the money aspect of the club, when he should have in fact with inflated player salaries he was signing and he alone assembled a squad which few fans recognise as Rangers standard. He put together a starting 11, the oldest average age in British football at a time when we needed a commitment to signing and developing young players with speed and energy.

If he'd created an exciting team with future potential nobody would be arguing about how much money he was getting paid. I don't hear any Manchester United fans arguing about Rooney's 300 grand a week.

3 6

14 Jun 2015 14:31:55
Not defending him, but he is only human.

14 Jun 2015 14:32:45
Most people are money oriented lol

3 3

14 Jun 2015 16:11:54
Haha 2 folk disagreed that mccoist is human!

1 3

14 Jun 2015 16:58:27
I used to think he was a Rangers man , not now he only wants the money . Watch what happens when his deal ends with us ,his big smug puss will be all over the TV . Your not a Rangers man anymore. Sorry.

4 2

14 Jun 2015 22:36:59
Sure McCoist was a Rangers legend , once a Rangers legend always a Rangers Legend .

0 2

15 Jun 2015 06:26:58
His TV contract was worth a lot more than Rangers were offering but still he came! And I take it ed that you did not have any specific dealings whereAlly demanded a fee just a feeling.

0 2

{Ed001's Note - yes I did have some dealings but you do realise that business requires NDAs to be signed right?}

14 Jun 2015 11:06:59
Anya made the difference yesterday's game. The guy has something special - we should definitely sign him. We should talk to him with a view to signing
next summer Can't see him signing this summer as Watford have just been promoted to Premier. But get him for free next year - the guys a Gers fan I'm sure he'd come.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

14 Jun 2015 11:38:10
There's one small problem mate! Watford are going to want a couple of million for him! Way out your price range I'm afraid! And if he does leave next summer for nothing then he's going to want a good wage! Again somthin use can't offer!

5 2

14 Jun 2015 11:54:08
dan67 these kind of targets are not way out of our price if you do the maths and targets are hit if we where to sell the season tickets of 45000 and with Warburton about to be come manager according to BBC and various other media outlets this will certainly go along way to helping king reach that target that would give us 13 14 million to spend on players we want 6 or 7 quality players so paying 2 million on each player would be about spot on that figure wages will not be problem cause we have freed up a lot of money on that front and also that is only the fans investment so they could be more money available for transfers if needed according to king so if anya is available for 2 million then rangers are in with a shout will he want to leave Watford that another question since there in premier league will depends on who they will buy

0 6

14 Jun 2015 12:33:21
Lots of ifs in there mate! Do u honestly think king or whoever it is that's runnin things down there is going to spend 2 maybe 3 million on a player and give him 20 grand a week minimum? Think we all know the answer to that one! And anya is going to come to a team who play in Scotland's 2nd tier over the EPL? Like I said far to many ifs in there for my liking!

3 2

14 Jun 2015 12:40:06
celtic can't spend that much on players ,,, here we go again , spend spend spend ,, that's what got us in this place ,, build a team is the way , face the facts we have to live in our means ,, and don't think king is the answer ,, he will put the final nail in to our club

3 3

14 Jun 2015 12:52:48
Celtic can't spend that much on players! Where did u get that one from? Don't talk rubbish mate! And don't worry because use won't be spend spend spending because Uve not got the money to do it!

3 2

14 Jun 2015 13:05:57
craigs8688. Where do I begin? In the extremely unlikely event that 45k season books are sold only a fraction will be spent on transfers. Money is still required for day to day expenses. Of course there is still the small matter of at least £8m loans that need to be repaid. Don't be surprised if Ashley brings us to court to ring fence £5m of the ST money in order to repay his loan.

3 4

Dan67,

If McCoist was to cancel his contract we could afford Anya on that wage lolol

Seriously I would love us to sign him now but I am trusting King and the board now totally due to the Warburton deal being done that was important for me and I actually respect him for giving McCall an interview he deserved that for trying his best with the rotten squad he was saddled with I wish him the best and that he helps take Scotland to France in 2016. King stated were we to need signings at Xmas signing window we will sign more then, that is the time for game changer signings such as Anya.

Other than that when we know we are on the way to the SPFL, I hope and pray by next May, we can start thinking bigger income bigger signing/wage targets but again I hope based on balanced books allowing for balanced wages and the TV money plus bigger season ticket money the SPFL will provide, we can then look to Anya and a similar stature of quality player to enable us to compete at the top of the SPFL.

3 signing windows and a Celtic free season are as King stated a huge opportunity for us to make up for the 3 wasted years of the "old pals" era.

Exciting summer and next season ahead, I am happy as a Bear for the first time in nearly 3 years.

1 1

14 Jun 2015 14:28:35
Dan - you are wrong on both counts. Your obsession with us seems to be affecting your better judgement.

2 1

14 Jun 2015 15:37:42
ABHABH

If Ashley could do what you say then I would suspect he would have done it already instead of insisting on an EGM. He is just trying to cause as much trouble as possible for the club after the removal of his 2 henchmen

2 1

14 Jun 2015 15:17:35
Wrong about what?? And I think your confusing obsession with reality pal! Can celtic spend 2 million on a player. Yes! Will use spend spend spend. NO! What parts wrong there?

0 1

14 Jun 2015 17:26:35
ABHABH you saying there would only be a fraction of the season ticket money spent on the team is wrong according to David king this will the managers money to spend on squad not other costs of running club Ashley would have only ready ring fenced money if he could have done this the club is not trading insolvent previous employees tried to do this before to and they never got it ring fenced the loans will be repaid in due course if Ashley negotiates if not they will take court actions for the dubious contract signed while Ashley cronies where in charge to the folk saying hear we go spending this again I am only pointing out facts and figures from what king has said 6 7 quality players he wants wants to hand the season ticket sales to the manger for signings plus we have freed up loads of wages with people that have left its all there to read so if we fans now step up and purchase the amount of season tickets they want us to we hand Warburton a a very hefty budget to sign players and we get ibrox bouncing again we done it in third division so it is achievable with Warburton in charge players will want to come

14 Jun 2015 21:24:59
Is DK going to gamble his grand children's Inheritance? Millions needed for work on the stadium.5 million owed to MA,3 million to 3 bears,Salary's wages to December! An entire squad youth set up coaches scouts. No chance will he put tens of Millions into a club with no credit line from any bank! Not on any market no nomad

14 Jun 2015 21:26:54
Ok Craigs, where will the money come from to fund the running of the club? What facts and figures has King given us?

0 0

14 Jun 2015 20:22:33
What we need from our new regime is to pick up freebies and low cost youngsters with real ability like Scott Allan and Andy Robertson. If Mr Warburton does that type of business and doesn't allow the board to spend spend a la Mr King's previously stated tactics then we will save millions a year on the football side of the company and things might start to look up slightly off the field as well (in a fiscal sense). Get a good affordable football product and the season tickets will sell all right. In the words of the song "things can only get better".

Nice one! According to BBC Warburton to be named as manager. A lot of crystal balls are faulty .

Believable8 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2015 13:40:30
Well it looks like my crystal ball was one of the faulty ones but will be very happy to be proven wrong.

Warburton and Weir sound as good as we could really hope for and after four years of going backwards under McCoist, with has beens playing horrible football I am dying to see the game being played with a bit of flair, good passing and with youngsters getting their chance.

Finally all the best to Stuart McCall, he did his best and the next club he takes on will be lucky to have him at the helm.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

You know what cee they prob should! It was a disgrace that they paid fai 5million every team have had a wrong decision against them. I remember lampards goal against germany in 2010 that was disallowed even though it was a foot over the line! We should of received compensation when marseille were stripped of the european cup after being found guilty of match fixing during the campaign when we finished 2nd to them in the group

13 Jun 2015 21:19:59
First time poster been reading the site for a while and with all the talk on the management situation I personally would like to see Warburton as manager with weir his number two and the lad cathro involved aswell as a first team coach or head of youth development I know its probably asking a bit much but surely that is the sort of appointments we should be looking at? Just wondering what your thoughts are on your favourite candidate for the post?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2015 08:01:46
I don't think Cathro would be interested in Head of Youth Development job, he's just stepped down as assistant manager of one of a top European club. He wants to be his own man and I personally think he will either be at Rangers as head coach or he won't be there at all

2 1

14 Jun 2015 09:07:53
Cathro has left Valencia for a reason and that is most likely to take his final coaching badges. If he could work with Warburton and Weir at Rangers it would be the perfect 'next stage' in his development with him learning from Warburton, (who is considered to be one of the best managers in the game. Warburton is in his 50's and I suspect would be at Rangers for maybe three years, Cathro is already on record as saying that he wants to be a first team coach within five years so a dream team of Warburton, Weir and Cathro could happen. Worryingly I have seen nothing so far to suggest that King is ambitious enough to follow this route meaning that we will end up with Stuart McCall and that would be seriously bad news.

2 3

14 Jun 2015 09:52:57
Warburton considered one of the best managers in the game! U havin a laugh! Where do use get this from honestly! 2 years at Brentford and he's one of the best in the game! Dear oh dear! And workin in Scotland's 2nd tier as one of the best in the games assistants would be the next stage in this boy Cathros development after workin in la liga with Valencia!! your at the wind up pal!

Welcome to Rangers Roumers, good first post I'd certainly go along with something like that young Cathro has a lot to offer and we do need someone in charge of scouting, look forward to reading your posts!

Got to agree with Dan here.I'd love to have Warburton at the Club, but I don't know about this"one of the best managers in the game"caper.I despair at times!
