Hearing tonight that sfa president mcrae wants sir alex ferguson as the next scotland manager and has already spoken to the other sfa members about this, seemingly sir alex and mcrae are very friendly, i personally don't think there's a chance in hell that sir alex will be the next scotland manager but think how good it would feel to all scots if it did come to pass, it would truly feel out of this world, sir alex ferguson new scotland manager, we can but dream, he's the greatest scottish manager of all time!

13 Oct 2016 06:14:40
I think with the greatest of respect to Sir Alex, putting him in that kind of pressured situation at his age would be dangerous, maybe he could come in as a motivational guy part of the team in some way but at 74 (I think) he shouldn't be burdened with such a difficult job nor should he put his reputation on the line with it either.

13 Oct 2016 16:26:13
Sir Alex was the best manager in the world because he had the best players in the world at the biggest club in the world on the fattest salarys in the world.

I'm not so sure hiring him guarantees anything. Scottish players are limited ability wise. We need to find a system and get good at it with the correct personnel. Right now I don't think there's a manager on earth that could get us to Russia.

13 Oct 2016 17:53:55
Scottish - we are limited ability-wise but only compared to a handful of nations! Performing on the same level as Lithuania is completely unacceptable! We should be comparing our players based on their club situation and wages and not by the fact we are Scotland and have a loser mentality! There is no accountability in the modern game and it's a disgrace!

13 Oct 2016 19:32:25
I'd love to see him given free reign over youth development. He'd probably not want to tarnish his managerial record by taking on the dead stick that is the Scottish managers job. The SFA have done nothing to tackle the problems of any level in the Scottish game, they glorify meager sponsorship deals and say they are positives. The entirety of the SFA should be gutted, accountants and lawyers should do their jobs and let football people run the game. Scottish football needs ripped up and rebuilt from bottom to top. Too many teams, too many leagues and not enough money or supporters to go around.

On another note i'd like to see clubs like St Johnstone for example lower their ticket prices to entice fans into the ground. Rough example and rough prices of tickets. At the moment they average 5-6000 depending on which report you see, so we'll take it at 5500 x 23.50 pounds for a ticket = 129'250 pounds per game. Why can't they lower their tickets to say 19 and aim to attract 8000 people into the ground. 8000 x 19.00 = 152'000 pounds. That could be a difference of 22'750 pounds per game x 16 home games (before the split. ) It is a potential increase of 364'000 pounds over the season. Obviously that example omits season tickets. but its an idea at least to get more people into the grounds and more kids interested in the game.

13 Oct 2016 17:11:58
I doubt Ferguson would go anywhere near the role. No matter who is in charge we aren't going to qualify and at his age does he really need this?

13 Oct 2016 21:00:43
Even Alex Ferguson couldn't find eleven quality Scottish players to progress in World Cups etc. He has a perfect record of having won every trophy available, that matters in Domestic Football, why would he want to blemish that by failing with Scotland.

At least if he was to be offered the England job, and accepted it, he would have a fighting chance of winning something.

13 Oct 2016 19:56:40
Why would the greatest manager of all time come out of retirement to ruin his reputation?

14 Oct 2016 15:12:47
scottscottish87;
if u remember correctly fergie brought through a team of youngsters and a few big buys but mostly his youngsters played in his glory team so its not because of the cash because man utd where nowhere near what he managed to get them to so u are making a mockery of a great job by a great man and speaking like a little boy who doesn't know anything about what happened back then.
and look what he did with the sheep was that just luck aswell?

the guy is a genious and can get the best out of anyone.
just look at what's happened to man u since he left!
coincidence? I think not pal.

{Ed001's Note - Atkinson set up the youth set up at United, not Fergie.}

Jim Traynor now making us looking like complete idiots on skysports news time for action is now been dragging on long enough what's going to happen on Monday "stay away another week" need this sorted before then don't need any distractions before next weekend.

P. S Jim

He was only doing his job the same one you use to do!

12 Oct 2016 17:30:32
Not really. MW clearly said he will not answer any questions regarding the situation and the reporter kept digging away.

12 Oct 2016 17:33:22
There must be a lot of legal stuff going on in background concerning Barton and warbs can't comment. It looked like traynor had pre warned press not to ask bout Barton and one of the press guys was being wide but agree traynor didn't look good .

12 Oct 2016 18:20:37
Jim Traynor is an imbecile and the quicker he is banished from Ibrox the better it will be for our club's image.

With regards to today's press conference, Warburton was handling the questions fine and had the issue under control. Traynor's intervention was unnecessary and made us look like complete amateurs.

12 Oct 2016 18:28:49
What was Traynor supposed to do? Stand there and let Warbs give the same response another 6 times? The reporter is trying to trip Warbs up and when it failed they have made the story about the refusal to answer the question. I thought Warbs dealt with it well and to be fair his presser when the repeated unanswerable questions were stopped was excellent. I fully support him as manager he will take us places if we are patient.

12 Oct 2016 19:03:33
Jmaster I totally agree with you regarding warburton handling of the situation but even he look a tad embarrassed by traynors actions why that man has a job at ibrox I'll never know.

12 Oct 2016 20:33:51
g4rry - Absolutely, Warbs is a smart guy, smarter than Traynor certainly, and he certainly did look embarrassed by the incident.

Warbs can handle press conferences without needing Traynor to 'help out'.

12 Oct 2016 20:47:27
We're not privy of knowing what jim traynor had said to pre warn the reporters regarding questions on joey barton before commencing with the manager's press conference, so they just kept digging and asking about joey barton which obviously is in the hands of the legal teams and can't be spoken about, so good on jim traynor for not letting the pushy reporter away with it when he was clearly told 3 times by warbs that he wasn't commenting on anything regarding joey barton, what part of no or can't do these reporters not understand? Jim traynor was protecting warbs and only doing his job! Good on him!

12 Oct 2016 22:31:20
Here is what is I think is happening with Joey Barton. Tomorrow or Thursday, it will be announced that Barton has been told to stay away for another week. This is because he has asked for time to consider the SFA issue re betting. If Barton admits to the betting, Rangers will try and use that issue to claim he has broken his terms of employment with Rangers and they will dismiss him with no compensation. Wait till Thursday morning. Can't see Barton rolling over.

12 Oct 2016 21:59:30
Just heard that Lawell, ex players, and management at Celtic are getting probed for TAX EVASION, does anyone have anymore on this?

12 Oct 2016 22:45:00
Jmaster , the media would need to be up early in the morning to trip mw up, mw is brilliant with these situation, tells them enough without commiting himself or the club, or certain players, the press must hate these interviews with mw, they know he is to clever for there liking.

12 Oct 2016 16:29:30
Off topic but I'm so glad the adverts on this site have changed. That viagra-ish ad. Maaaan. Couldn't look at that giant deformed brown elephant c**k thingy any longer. Every time I scrolled down BAM there it was, burning a hole in my retina. Stuff of nightmares that.

{Ed001's Note - you do realise the ads you see were based on your search history, right?}

12 Oct 2016 17:08:36
So I must be searching real estate and water a lot then.

12 Oct 2016 17:27:19
Hahaha no chance. I've never searched to see what a celebrity looks like now or for pictures of monster elephant boabie in my life. Wonder if my wife has been using my phone covertly?

(That's my story and I'm sticking to it your honour)

:)

12 Oct 2016 17:46:17
Ok mines is now make-up tips, does that mean someone in my goose is cross dressing, lol😂😂😂.

12 Oct 2016 18:21:47
Aye but I bet you have searched for plenty of porn lol.

12 Oct 2016 18:28:01
Haha class ed. I have to agree with monty there are some very annoying ads like lol.

12 Oct 2016 10:39:11
The Hobbit needs sacked. But he won't be. Just another fine example of how our SFA is broke beyond repair.

Last nights performance, lack of passion and lack of drive is a direct result of fielding a team riddled with players of another nationality, who even in their own heart know they are not Scottish or what it means to play for Scotland. It's just another game of football to them. Even the Scottish players in the team are too young to remember the national team being quasi-successful and qualifying for a major tournament.

With this being said, I still feel that Scotland has enough quality to put out a decent side. We need someone who can find the best playing style to enhance that quality and of course pick the right players for the job. We don't need The Hobbit and The Desomation of Scotland.

12 Oct 2016 11:54:43
lets be honest, we certainly are not loaded with a lot of class with current Scotland players but other national teams seem to manage to perform to an acceptable level in similar circumstances. However our chance of doing so is zero as long as we have a manager who is intent on proving he is correct regardless, eg. constantly playing the likes of a centre who must be the worst i can ever remember playing there for us, not to mention our defensive shortcomings and midfielders past their sell by date. Could see this favouritism happening as soon as he was put in charge and gave his best mate (best man at wedding) a nice little earner as assistant.

12 Oct 2016 13:29:04
its a joke u have to play your best players the ones that are performing well but the two fletchers are shockingly bad and forrest is better than Ritchie imo the wee guy has been on fire this season and deserves a shout aswell as McKay and bring in holt and/ or halliday for fletcher he hasn't been the same since he came back from his illness.

12 Oct 2016 13:42:50
It would be a no from me for McKay based on this seasons performance but got to give Holt and Halliday a chance. Even Wilson could do a job for Scotland. Strachan is a joke and only in Scotland would he keep his job after failing to qualify for Euros and this abysmal start to the WC qualifiers.

12 Oct 2016 15:02:26
Spot on james stirling, the two fletchers have been complete and utter mince, but as i said on previous post Strachan is determined to prove he is right and everyone else wrong regardless of the outcome, he should offer to go immediately, Boy i feel sorry for the poor punters spending their cash to travel and watch this garbage.

12 Oct 2016 15:02:26

12 Oct 2016 15:50:12
Cant say i feel sorry for the punters, Scotland have been mince for years so they know what there letting themselves in for when they pay the money to go and watch them so no pity from me i'm afraid.

12 Oct 2016 21:33:20
I had just turned 18 before France 98. Had a great time getting boozed up in the pubs with my pals. Never once crossed my mind that that was it in terms of Scotland at major tournaments.

We don't have world beaters, but we do have some very good players- particularly in midfield.

Strachan must go now. For the results, for failure to make euros, for his ridiculous comments, for his arrogant "little man" attitude, for his woeful tactics, for the dreadful performances and most of all for failing to get most out of what we have.

A new manager could come in now and have a chance of turning it around, but we all know that won't happen: that's why we will never make another tournament- because the sfa excuse failure and the tartan morons, sorry army, care more about getting drunk and wearing a kilt than the football.

Harsh but fair.

12 Oct 2016 23:11:06
His comments are a joke. how do I send these players back to there clubs and feel good about themselves. wtf. after stealing a draw against Lithuania the being humoed against a bang ordinary Slovak side with just one good player then naw Chesney you this mob won't go back feeling good but hey ho does it really matter. we're Scotland and this is how it's meant to be these days isn't it.

13 Oct 2016 21:00:33
Can we honestly say the slovaks even played that well?

12 Oct 2016 09:56:26
A lot of people posting on here saying they're not passionate about Scotland because the tartan army said this or done that.

Fair enough we might not agree with the opinions of a lot of them, but if your passionate about your country then you ignore the morons.

Just the same as most of us have to ignore the morons and the bigoted nonsense that is associated with our club.

That doesn't make us any less passionate about Rangers, so why should it make us any less passionate about Scotland?

12 Oct 2016 10:07:18
well said Dawson!

12 Oct 2016 10:27:59
Anyone else excited to see Strachan get sacked?

12 Oct 2016 10:41:25
Only in my dreams does he get sacked. In reality he'll probably get the job to 2022. Meanwhile I'll be flying about using a jet pack and singing the sash.

12 Oct 2016 11:07:45
Totally dispassionate regarding Scotland and will remain so until the Original bigots are out! Look it up.

12 Oct 2016 22:56:49
Wearerangers, exactly mate, I've breen pointing the same story out for years now, to anybody that will listen, but the people say I've got it wrong, i won't ask you to guess which glasgow club these guys follow, the blin leadin the blin,

12 Oct 2016 09:37:12
Gutted about the Scotland score last night, he must go, why the hell does he keep playing Martin and Hanley at the back, my god surely Berra and young Souter would be better, and don't get me started on Martin up top, looks like Russia is gone already, gutted, pure gutted.

12 Oct 2016 11:53:19
Think theirs a good argument for both sides here lads. don't think its so bad if none of us bother abt the national team as its got to be drummed into you to be so passionate. on the flip side people coming on here and getting absolutley tore into the national team need to let go of this anti Rangers stuff and SFA guff, at the end of the day if we (Rangers) go out on a Sat and do the buisness then we don't need to worry abt Scotland or anybody else thinks abt us. for the record, Rangers are the only football side in the world i care abt, i don't give a dam abt Scotland🔴⚪️🔵 but i certainly aren't overjoyed when they get gubbed.

12 Oct 2016 21:36:14
We need to play 3 central defenders. We also need to give full backs some help- Paterson and Tierney were left 2v1 far far too often.

Clearly their manager has tactical nous. (Do I really need to say that strachan doesn't? )

12 Oct 2016 22:58:35
Delboy9 rushia was gone before a ball was kicked, imoh.

12 Oct 2016 06:50:39
After watching lee hodson play against Germany I'd like to see him given a chance. I'd play him against celtic as in my opinion he's a better defender than tavernier and is pretty decent going forward as well.

12 Oct 2016 09:21:49
I really like lee hodson but imo I'd have tav in before him, just my opinion hooly78,i think tav is better and his defending has most definitely improved this season, his forward play has never been in doubt, he's tremendous going forward and that's the way the modern day wing-backs play now!

12 Oct 2016 10:43:36
Anytime hodson has played, we've looked more solid at the back. Surely with a team full of wingers and attacking players, we should leave the 'going forward' to them. I would without a doubt be starting hodson against them.

12 Oct 2016 11:56:30
Got to agree Supercoop, Tav everyday for me, defensivly can b abit suspect but has improved but his attacking style for me should guarantee him a start. also hodson only had a few games against lower league this season so not really bn tested.

12 Oct 2016 13:38:18
tav all day for me. he has been one of our best this season and looks like the only one that can cross a ball into the box which is exactly what a player like garner needs to be affective.

12 Oct 2016 16:21:21
Naw James. That's it yer done. Get your coat, phone a taxi, hand in your gun and badge, delete yer account, set fire to yer phone.

Paul Lambert pffffffft. Geez peace. Only time I want him back at ibrox is to look for his teeth in the broomy penalty box.
