Watching Liverpool spurs game and if we use var the same way as they do down there I don’t want it those people in charge of var are clowns Kane just a yellow no var and Robertson gets sent off for a lesser challenge complete and utter farce.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Storm.
For me it should be offside and fouls / handball in the box only.

19 Dec 2021 21:42:27
To be fair I seen a guy sent off last week and the ref reviewed it and changed to a yellow. Absolutely the correct decision. I don’t agree with this offside because the strikers elbow was an eighth of an inch in front of the defenders foot.

Agree storm.

Robertsons was a red, but the kane one was much worse, definate red card all day long.

Ive just done a personal VAR review and I've came to the conclusion that whoever was in charge of the VAR machine today was an Everton fan or possibly Man Utd or City. Clear penalty not given and Kane should have been sent off. This is a clear breach of the VAR code of conduct and my faith in it has been lessened somewhat. After reviewing the Newcastle game the VAR operator is a city fan and should be sacked in the morning because that is as clear a penalty that you will ever see.

3 cheers still not seen the Newcastle one yet but they way the English use var is very poor.

VAR will be no good if Clancy and Collum and Beaton are operating it.
The dark side will find ways of controlling VAR.
It's the nature of the Timmy person.

20 Dec 2021 07:38:18
I didn't think the Newcastle one was a penalty?
City player got to the ball in front of the City keeper and Fraser.
City keeper wiped out Fraser but I thought Fraser made the most of it.

20 Dec 2021 10:42:47
Haha, no way mph got to disagree there lol. Emerson just cleared him right out, not even sure Fraser saw him coming.

20 Dec 2021 11:19:23
Defo a pen u just said it Ederson wiped him out any where else on park its a foul.

20 Dec 2021 11:42:44
He wiped him out but:-
Fraser wasn't getting anywhere near the ball
Fraser looked for the contact from the keeper
And the City defender got the ball first and changed direction. Fraser never.
If that was given against Rangers, I'd be raging.
But that's the beauty of football - it's all about opinions.

{Ed001's Note - there is no rule about the ball having to be anywhere near a player for it to be a foul if someone takes him out. He is under no obligation to change direction. This is the problem, people make excuses without actually knowing the laws of the game. It was a foul, pure and simple, in the box and that is a pen. Anyone defending it is simply wrong. Ederson messed up because he is rash and should have left it for the defender to deal with. It would have made no difference to the result, it would not have been a card but it was a foul and so a penalty. I don't care if you would be raging if it was given against your team, that would just be because you don't understand the laws of the game, like English referees.

This is not the beauty of football, this is the stupidity of football, people defending things because they don't actually understand the laws of the game. Same with the Salah handball, the laws changed to rule it had to be a deliberate handball to chalk off a goal, so the decision was correct.}

20 Dec 2021 13:42:45
So you are saying that although he isn't going to get the ball even if Ederson doesn't come out, you have to take in to account that Ederson did come out and wipe him out? Which gives dubiety to the potential outcome?
Fair enough Ed001, I'll bow to your superior knowledge on the rules.

{Ed001's Note - it is just the same as if a player kicks another's legs out from him nowhere near the ball, it is a foul. The ball doesn't have to be there.}

20 Dec 2021 13:56:47
Now that you say it like that, Ed001 it makes perfect sense. 👍.

{Ed001's Note - the position of the ball is not even mentioned in the laws with regard to a foul, so why the media try and claim it is relevant I have no idea.}

20 Dec 2021 19:44:14
As long as the ball is 8n play doesn't matter ehere foul takes place. Look at kyogo one v livingston, ball in keepers hands, penalty still given.

20 Dec 2021 19:48:33
some of the decisions are baffling and very inconsistent. The way var was used in the euros over the summer was excellent and a great advert for it being used properly.
