so why did we not hold on to McCrorie and develop him as an additional centre half? that's what he started out as, and his versatility would in my opinion be a huge asset.

06 Jul 2019 20:55:33
Cause he's had some absolute shockers at centre half. Once you see him play in middle of the park there's no way he's a centre half. Gerrard has also said this.

06 Jul 2019 21:42:54
Ritchie

The main reason is because he is not a centre half and never will be.

06 Jul 2019 22:53:48
Top drawer hammer thrower in middle of the park and cannot for the life of me why let him out. far superior to docherty or halliday in that position.

07 Jul 2019 06:26:09
never develop as a centre half needs game time in midfueld he will be back if he shines.

07 Jul 2019 06:49:24
He will struggle to get in the team this year makes sense to send the boy out to play a full season somewhere, can only benefit us when he comes back up.

07 Jul 2019 07:16:08
J-Zer

He ain’t the same type of player as Docherty and I would rather have Docherty every day of the week but you never know SG might send him out on loan too.

And lastly am better than Halliday.

07 Jul 2019 10:55:57
I think young Ross is a top DM. Problem he has is he probably needs more game time to develop and we simply can't afford to give him the time he needs but with a year of top team experience then I think he will develop into a very good DM.
We will only sell if the boss sees no improvement.

07 Jul 2019 12:40:50
To say why we didn’t keep hold of McCrorie for a back up centre half is laughable he’s worse there than rob keirnan was we would have been better to keep McCrorie as a back up goalkeeper than a back up centre half.

07 Jul 2019 17:33:42
Apart from sendeRoss I've never saw a worse cb than rob kiernan 😂😂.

Nemanja Matic

As we all know our young midfielder ross mccrorie has joined portsmouth, on a season long loan deal. As i have already stated, i think steven gerrard knows what's best for mccrorie and its the correct decision in my eyes, to give him game time. We all need to be honest here and be realistic, that mccrorie wouldn't currently get into our starting midfield. Really do hope it works out for mccrorie, the way it has for greg docherty.

Gerrard has been very impressed with docherty in training and the bounce games,
since coming back from his loan deal, from Shrewsbury town. I personally have always liked and rated doch. He's very strong and powerful midfield runner with a first class attitude. I truly now believe that he is very much part of gerrard's first team plans. My wee question to all my fellow bears out there is. Which midfielder between greg docherty and ross mccrorie is/ will be the better midfielder and has developed the most?

Which one will go on to have the better rangers career? Who do you guys rate the better all round? ED, you could even do a poll on this, if that's ok with you mate? Cheers!

For what its worth, as much as i like and rate young ross mccrorie, i honestly do think / rate greg docherty the better midfielder! Young doch has an immense attitude in general and to succeed and his fitness levels are through the roof. He was absolutely superb down at Shrewsbury and that development and grounding in that hard physical league, will be to the massive benefit to us longterm. It has been the making of young docherty! He's got a big future with us IMHO.

{Ed033's Note -

McCrorie, Docherty Poll

06 Jul 2019 20:05:49
They're very different midfielders. Mcrorie is a defensive midfielder. Docherty a more attacking one. I hope both go on to have great rangers careers but let's give Docherty some games before blawing him up to much. he hasn't played a competitive game since he's come back yet! Just MHO.

06 Jul 2019 20:50:28
Sg Docherty will be some player given that u say mccrorie will play hundreds of game for us and gain many caps.

06 Jul 2019 21:46:15
John

Better off forgetting about half of what coop says as he can’t remember half the BS age puts on here.

They are 2 completely different midfielders but if I have to choose one it would be good all day long.

06 Jul 2019 22:56:10
Tell you what i'll have a monkey on who earns more caps for Scotland. Mcrorie for me all day long.

06 Jul 2019 23:14:19
It’s got to the stage now when I see a novel of a post I know who it is straight away, scroll down to the bottom and lo and behold! it’s the famous supercooper11.

07 Jul 2019 01:08:59
McRorie is the better player all day long.

07 Jul 2019 01:09:48
Also Coop, how do you know who Gerrard has been impressed with? Does he call you at bedtime before you drift off to fantasy land?

07 Jul 2019 07:55:17
J-zer, paul gascoigne only got over 50 caps for england whereas our manager steven gerrard and frank lampard got over 100 caps, i know who the better midfielder was, the one and only paul gascoigne by a distance. So getting more caps for your country, doesn't always mean your a better player.

07 Jul 2019 10:03:01
I love Gazza but he wasn’t better than Gerrard, give yourself peace. He was brilliant when we wanted to be but Gerrard was top level for probably 15 years.

07 Jul 2019 12:11:17
Wagman, you obviously never watched Gazza in the 1990 WC or maybe you were to young to watch him in his prime or when he was with us? Stevie G was an amazing player it your comments are wrong and I believe Gazza was Stevie G hero!

10 Jul 2019 00:03:28
I had a season ticket through Gazza’s entire time with us, I saw every minute he ever played for us and I saw his England appearances at major tournaments. I also say Steven Gerrard for most of his career and saw him more or less single handed turn round a 3-0 deficit in a Champions League final. Gazza had a lot of ability but Stevie G was one of the top ten players in the world most of his career. Cool have played any position, after Cristiano Ronaldinho he’s the most well rounded footballer I’ve ever seen.

06 Jul 2019 11:22:05
If rumours of morelos to palace are true, would you take 10 mil plus benteke? Or maybe a smaller few plus him.

06 Jul 2019 11:32:18
Tell my your fishing! Benteke will be on £100k or more! Surely that post is a joke, either that or you play to much Champ manager.

06 Jul 2019 12:28:59
Even in fantasy land, wouldn’t go near Benteke. Not that it’s even a remote possibility.

06 Jul 2019 15:26:04
Wouldn't touch Benteke with a bargepole. Good player but a stinking attitude.

06 Jul 2019 21:39:11
Benteke is on 100k a week and, without exaggeration, has cost Palace something like 4 million pounds a goal.

06 Jul 2019 11:09:01
See with the mccrorrie deal see if he does amazing down there and we want to keep him and he wants to come back up and play for us. The option to buy seems kind of pointless? Or am I missing something and we have to sell if Portsmouth want him?

06 Jul 2019 11:33:58
The option to buy is exactly that. If he has a stinker then he’ll be sent up the road, if he has an amazing season Portsmouth have the option to buy at a set price. Doesn’t mean he has to sign, chances are if he tears it up down there he’ll be back up the road and in the first team next season.

06 Jul 2019 12:44:15
Seems its not an option to buy but a 1st refusal if we wish to sell.

06 Jul 2019 13:09:24
Yes appears to be first refusal, at a price still to be set by Rangers.
Also the lad is worth more than Turnbull.

06 Jul 2019 11:07:41
Everybody saying mccrorie deal is wrong I disagree look at good bury want him back again mccrorie needs a lot of game time there is a good chance he can come back next season a first team starter that's how high I rate him I wouldn't be surprised if this is gerrards move forward thinking this move is good for him .

06 Jul 2019 23:45:39
Take it your meaning "look at doc"?

He wasnt at bury last year.

07 Jul 2019 02:18:13
Duh sbury.

07 Jul 2019 14:19:40
Aye cause that was obvious. Duh! 😂😂😂 Clear as mud, both posts.

06 Jul 2019 06:15:56
Ross McCrorie loaned out to Pompey. Agree he needs games but it’s being reported there is an option to buy and this is disappointing for me. If he goes down there and plays brilliantly then we could lose him and his best years won’t come at Rangers. Will be interesting to see how he gets on in comparison to Aribo. If he lights up league 1 maybe our management team might take notice of a young guy who for me has everything to be a success, just needs games.

06 Jul 2019 09:45:57
Agree i'm a big fan of ross
Useful guy to have around and doesn't let us down when called upon.

06 Jul 2019 09:59:48
Agree wee bear, not so long ago Stevie was telling us he was amazing! Don’t know the ins and outs but I have a feeling something has went on. Who am I to argue with Stevie G but I am just disappointed as I thought the lad had excellent potential and I wish him all the luck in the world!

06 Jul 2019 10:06:32
have to agree guys - rossco was superb in new year OF win at Ibrox and also played in 2-0 OF win after split

I don’t think the lad has anything to prove and always delivers when called upon - his headed goal up at pittodrie also shows he stands up in the big games for us

Obv i'm not questioning SGs knowledge of midfielders but hope we don’t miss a trick here overlooking this lad as he’s big strong physical type defensive midfielder who screens back 4 so well - yes he cld work on other aspects of his game but who doesn’t

sincerely hope we see the big man back soon as selling him wkd be a mistake.

06 Jul 2019 10:45:32
I agree guys, I'm a big fan of the lad. He's pretty quick, very strong, can tackle like a tiger and turns up for the big games as well. I'd love to see him come back to us.

06 Jul 2019 10:54:31
Was a wee bit surprised that Ross was loaned out you could always rely on the boy if he was needed. He will come back next year hopefully a better player. Even if there is an option to buy I can’t see the big fella giving up us for Portsmouth.

06 Jul 2019 15:14:30
He needs 40 games this season and we can’t offer it but if he does well it makes no sense to have a buying option inserted, hopefully this is not the case and we’ll have a better player with us next summer challenging for a spot in the team!

06 Jul 2019 17:36:16
wee bear; how could we lose him?

Review Of The Day 6th July 2019

06 Jul 2019 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 6th July 2019

06 Jul 2019 00:05:05
I’m youngish haha so some of players mentioned I have little memory of them playing for the club.

Klos
Ricksen
Amorouso
Butcher
Numan
GVB
Gascoigne
Ferguson
Alberts
McCoist
Mols

Goram
Laudrup
De Boer
Durrant
Moore
Cooper
Hateley

Starting 11 and Sub. I would chop and change the starting 11 depending on how I feel cause they are all great players imo.

06 Jul 2019 08:01:15
U got the goalies wrong way round lol.

06 Jul 2019 08:03:24
Ferguson was a fantastic player but I’d swap him with Laudrup and swap Klos with Goram.

06 Jul 2019 08:15:16
Goram
Jardine
Greig
Butcher
Wallace
Davis
Baxter
McCall
Gazza
Cooper
Mccoist.

06 Jul 2019 08:34:11
That’s the era of players I grew up watching. However I would certainly add one of my fav players Richard Gough.

06 Jul 2019 09:06:28
Mate you have 3 of our greatest ever players on the bench. Goram our best ever keeper and Cooper and Laudrup arguably the best player to wear our shirt. In fact, Hately should start before Mols too.

06 Jul 2019 09:37:09
switch in Goram, Laudrup, Cooper and Hateley .

06 Jul 2019 10:48:31
Laudrup and Gazza have to be in imo.

06 Jul 2019 15:17:20
RFC bear, is that Moore played defence in 80s before your time? Pretty downright average. Might get shot down, Mols OK but nowhere near great. I watched him through his Gers career along with Moore. Moore, no confidence in him, Mols, pretty heartless.

06 Jul 2019 20:51:12
My team in 4-3-3 formation
GK-Goran
RB-G Steven, CB-Butcher, CB- Gough, LB Numan.
DM-Souness, CM-Gascoigne, CM-Durrant
RW-Laudrup LW-Cooper
CF-Mols.
