The Hobbs deal has been put on the back burner as Lescott looks to be on his way.
He's been told he can leave for free and is well known to Davie Weir .

Wages may be a stumbling block but he wants to win a few medals which he will with us.

Saw he was dropped to the reserve team at villa so could well happen.

16 Aug 2016 11:01:24
Lescott is absolutely gash! The slowest defender in history with a penchant for horrendus mistakes! Do not want him anywhere near us.

16 Aug 2016 12:00:32
Guys - watch ANY and I mean ANY Aston villa game from last year and you will see that Lescott has lost 5 yards in speed and positional sense is NIL. He's also hopeless in the air.

But free and over 30 suits us I suppose.

16 Aug 2016 12:06:26
i hope he isn't coming I would rather sum1 less sh*t.

16 Aug 2016 13:27:53
Being reported by the S*n now as I told you last night .

Anyone who thinks he wouldn't be a massive upgrade on what we already have is kidding themselves on .

16 Aug 2016 14:05:11
he's a far superior player to Hill and kiernan and 10x the player senderos ever has been.

16 Aug 2016 14:33:50
I watched him at Everton and was pleased to see him leave but I would certainly prefer him to Hill and he is as good as Kiernan and Wilson. I would still prefer Senders, if fit but perhaps we could sign them both and then let Hill concentrate 100% on coaching!

16 Aug 2016 14:38:11
Walk into our side when fully fit but should be offering these type of guys a Base wage that only increases if they make the grade! Ie in the pool every week. to many players going to clubs getting top dollar for sitting in the stand.

16 Aug 2016 15:30:59
lescott was a good player yes he is better than hill but he isn't good enough for what we want to achieve as a club which is win the title!
no pace and blunders as much as effe ambrose.

bring back bougy and bartley!

and to all those who think we shouldn't look back at old players I don't care I know their quality and one of them would have a good sell on value if he does well.

they would be the perfect answer for me.

16 Aug 2016 15:50:24
If bougherra deal was going to happen it would have ages ago (when he issued his come and get me plea via the papers) .

I liked Bartley during his loan spell but his career has stagnated since.

Senderos has been rank rotten for nearly 10 years. Yes he's played for some good clubs but he flopped at every one of them. His entire career is based on his early promise at arsenal.

Take point that lescott lost his way at villa but prior to that he was decent at man city (although not first choice) and truly outstanding for Everton. If we could get him confident and fit he could be the answer to our defensive problems. IF we can get him fit and confident.

16 Aug 2016 15:51:21
bartleys at leeds on a season long loan.

16 Aug 2016 19:29:51
Surprised there isn't a decent loan option for center back must be a better option than a 30 odd year old stop gap I know a loan is a stop gap but they sometimes lead to permanent deals.

16 Aug 2016 20:35:34
Was Davie Weir a stop gap? This forum would've probably went into meltdown the time we signed Davie Weir. Look at how that turned out. Not too shabby.

16 Aug 2016 22:05:49
Dont think bartley done much tbh when he was on loan with us. bougy and weir was the cb partnership at the time and bartley got the odd game in midfield.2 which came against that mob which we got beat and he was only interested in trying to noise up broon the dummy.

17 Aug 2016 07:39:31
David weir was a true professional and a proven leader so no i wouldn't say he was a stop gap other than being towards end of his career we still had great few years service, he was brought into steady the ship! Not so sure lesscott or senderos have the same qualities! A hungry young cb desperate to showcase his abilities is what I'd b after now that we've used what I'd imagine is our kitty to sign garner.

17 Aug 2016 15:07:21
Bartley was the Zelalem of his time. came here in a big fanfare from Arsenal but was actually dross for us. Not sure the kind of memory some guys have on here. As i've said many times, if our midfield and forwards would actually convert a better amount of the chances we create, we wouldn't need to bother so much with the odd defensive lapse. which all teams have. Our goals to chances ratio is shocking. This hurts us more than anything. Garner may be the man to sort this out.

17 Aug 2016 20:25:07
If it wasn't for Lescott we may have never signed Davie Weir. Now it could be the other way around. The beauty of football.
