Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

28 Jun 2011 23:21:43
Fellow bears, lets not worry. The season starts on July 23rd and the transfer window shuts at the end of August. Lets judge Mr Whyte then based on league position and whether or not we qualify for the CL, and naturally signings. It is far too early to start worrying, the most important thing is to keep our champions and then add to it and by that I mean Weiss, and Bartley coming back.

I am a member of Peter Lovenkrands in law family. I had to ask Peter about the rumours linking him to the club. He denied any contact for him BUT had said Joey Barton had been asked on the possibility of a deal being done. Personally on the times I have met Barton and through his antics on the pitch I hope he doesn't sign but right now nothing would surprise me if Pete was right . . .

Believable1 Unbelievable1

If you are playing the "in law" game, then I am Barton's in law.

I spoke to him about Lovenkrands and he said he doesn't know you.

Night night.

Craig Whyte is an absolute fraud Doesn't have anywhere near the money he claims to have. All this carry on with him and Martin Bain is very fishy. 3 transfer targets gone to other clubs over Rangers not stumping up the right money. I dont believe he has Rangers best interests at heart and he's in this to make money for himself.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Craig whyte is correct for not giving players and there agents what they want .thats why we are here talking about average championship players. getting all upset because we have signed nobody whyte has already said 6 players transfer window opens on 1st july ends end of august i will hold judgement until then and so should all true rangers supporters big rab by the way

28 Jun 2011 21:16:34
to all you septic fans who keep going on about the mighty gers losing out on this target or that player are you all thick, demented ot delusional ? remember ...Strachan, , Mowbary( god he was my HERO) and bitter lennon
they kept chasing every player that we showed an interest in (SCOTT BROWN ....thank god we missed out on that thug) well dont you think that maybe Supper ALLY is keeping his targets close to his chest sausage bear

Exactly mate. WATP.

28 Jun 2011 20:31:46
i think fellow gers fans need to start thinking and stop panicing. just because hemed danns conway were the first players we were linked with doesnt mean they were the main targets. and the reason they werent offered £20k a week is because they are not worth that amount.when a player is worth £20k eg cuellar hutton they will be offered it. the transfer window hasnt even opened yet a loads of you are saying we dont have money, we're not goin to get any 1 etc. this paranoia belongs in glasgow ireland, not glasgow scotland. KEEP BELIEVING, THE FUTURES WHYTE

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Again, EXACTLY. Fans who are just complaining or posting negative comments are naturally usually the fans who are like that in everyway. I couldn't care less if Rangers signed not one player this transfer window because I'll always be Rangers 'til I Die. Obviously I know we need players and squad depth and would hope we could get some players in and will do, that's what i'm sure off. We are the people.

Agree3 Disagree1

But at the same time.. the fans need to see the club progress its there hard earned cash thats going season tickets etc... the squad is in diar need off freshning up

For the people who are saying players like Alan Hutton, Filip Sebo and Kris Boyd are coming back, Stop spreading rumours that are complete and utter garbage. We couldnt afford Hutton unless it was a loan. Sebo? Do you remember what Filip Sebo was like at Rangers? And in my opinion Boyd left at the right time as he's shown in the Champions League and in England he simply isn't good enough, and for the fans who will say "oh he scored 30 league goals when he was playin consistantly".. well Miller scored 22 goals before January when he stopped doing the running for two players. Boyd was a passenger in every match and got the plaudits when it was players like naismith, miller and davis who were working their socks off. So please Ally dont bring back Boyd.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

28 Jun 2011 18:54:36
I dont know wether to get worried or not ? is their back up, and is the back up good enough ? or are the players we missed out on not that important as the ones Ally is eyeing up when the window opens ?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

If i were you i'd be worried

Agree2 Disagree2

I think you go for your first choices first and when you don't get them you go for your second choices. The players Rangers didn't get will have been their first choices. The transfer window doesn't open till 1st July but it is public knowledge Rangers are after Cuellar. Given that Cuellar is common knowledge, it's reasonable to think any other first choices that couldn't be signed until after the transfer window opens would also be known about. Rangers have not been shy about letting us know who their targets are.

Agree0 Disagree1

I genuinely believe that Super Ali has other players outside of the UK that he will bring in, honestly who was Danns and Hemed? I had never heard of them I've just renewed my season ticket and do think that come the champions league qualifiers there will have been several signings, we MUST keep the faith SEBO

Here's a REALISTIC team and squad that i think would be unbeatable Put a * for first picks

GK- *Macgregor, Alexander

LB- *Papac, Wallace

CB- *Bougherra, *Cuellar, Weir, Broadfoot

RB- *A.Hutton, Little

LW- *Naismith, Wylde

CM- *Mculloch, *Davis, Edu, Ness, K.Hutton

RW- *Weiss, Kerkar

ST- *Jelavic, *Goodwillie, Lafferty, Fleck

Bearing in mind we have a squad of players who can all play different positions i think this would be a rock solid squad with quality and depth

Thoughts?

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Broadfoot aint a cb

Agree5 Disagree6

Little is a striker

Agree1 Disagree4

Broadfoot is a cb that is playing rb. He has been a centre back all his career.

Agree5 Disagree2

Firstly, Little was released. Secondly Weiss is terrible and I hope we dont sign him, thirdly Kerkar is left sided. And I'm not even going to mention the fairytale that is Alan Hutton. Some Bears on here need to get a grip.

Agree4 Disagree1

Aye take ur pen n paper n ram it up yer. as for hutton we made 9 mil of a guy thats no better than broadfoot bombing down the wing and as sausage bear said broadfootd is a cb and he has been told he is to work in the kitchens at murray park making the eggs.

How can you say weiss is crap he basically won us the cis cup against the them and he was the one player with a wee bit flare and skill in the rangers squad

28 Jun 2011 17:52:04
All the talk of players we're signing but dpesn't seem to be in the areas we need strenghtened. What I think we need is a backup LB, 2 CB, 1 RW and a striker. We have a decent squad and good youngsters just think we need 3 quality players and 2 squad players to give us a solid base to work on. Also remember if we qulaify for the CL that's another guaranteed 12M that we can use some of to strenghten in January

EDU to French League 1 teams?

Translated
According to Top Mercato, the recruitment cell of TFC would consider the profile of the defensive medium ground American Maurice Edu (1, 83m, 85 kg). A proposal for a 3 d' million; euros to Glasgow Rangers, where the player has evolved for three seasons. Two other League 1 teams, Bordeaux and Rennes, would be also interested.

rite guys iv been quietly watchin on and trying to figure out whats goin on at our club. At first i was pleased that Whyte was being bullied into paying top bucks for players. But and this is a long winded but........
the players we have been in for were Allys top priority signings, the players were good maybe not great but at a decent level without being too good for the SPL. Now the worrying thing is that these players seemed to be outta Whytes budget hmmmmm .... anyone know. how much Conway was offered by Cardiff as that will have a good indicication of what we were bidding against. So it would be fair to assume that the gers now need to look at the targets on their shortlist that are not as good as the original targets it would seem?

Now what is it ? is Whyte not fundung us the way he said he would or is he not so keen on havin coisty as manager and sees this as a way of ousting him out without sacking him? I get the latter thro the appointment of Smith, there is no signs to suggest that that appointment was Coistys idea and his silence on this appointment worries me a little.

We all know and the management/board have confirmed we need around 4-5 players (squad/first team players) we are no 3 weeks before the seson kicks off and we still have a team that will need to be settled if we are indeed signing the 5 players. 3 weeks isnt quite enough let alon how long they will have.

I would love to see King Carlos back as he would canter the SPL again but i dont see how Whyte could justify splashing out the wages (which he will need to do) for Cueller then try and negotiate new contracts either with players comin in or players at the club.

Far too many things are not adding up to me and Im afraid Coisty is being set up for the slaughter. If this happens all we will hear is that lennon is the messiah etc... also it will give them foot back in the door to europe and havni us miss out and if that happens i reckon the manager (whoever it would be) would see this affect his budget.

Anyways after all that pessimism i must make it clear that i hope to hell im totally wrong (i aint saying any of the above is true, just my observations). And even if the worst comes to worst Ill still be standin their scarf wrapped and voice belting out 4ever supporting the bears.

any comments would be welcome guys u 2 ed.

Instead of just hittin disagree maybe actually write something

Personally i think the guys makes some good points, albeit hypothetical. No-one can answer for sure until we see some action from our team .... heres hopin he is wrong as he states

anyone know what Conways wages are at Cardiff?

Agree0 Disagree1

Conways 24k at cardiff

Agree0 Disagree2

*ucks sake man could we all just trust the new board untill we can prove that they have done something wrong? the players we lost out on had nothing to do with money. rangers did not offer conway a contract hemed was offered more money at rangers than he was at mallorka and dans wanted to play under sven so wheres the evidence that white wont stump up??. personaly id rather they made the right choices if it takes time so be it. 4 in a row.

Agree0 Disagree0

24k, no wonder we never offered him a contract. Clubs in Engurland are mental, Conway is never worth 24k per week in a million years. I'd rather we signed naebdy than paid wages like that to average players. Not worried, gaun yersel Mr whyte

I think that Rangers should offer 1.5m plus Beattie for Goodwillie. United would take that.

{Ed010's Note -I changed your figure from "1.5k" to "1.5m" as I think you hit the wrong key. If it wasn't a typo, let me know and I will have it adjusted back.

Right i was delivering in bearsden today and met a rangers executive (cannot name him) David healy will be offered a pay as you play deal, diouf will be offered a similiar deal, kyle bartley's agent is trying to work a deal to get bartley to ibrox as they are desperate to sign bamba from blackburn, failing that 5 mil and bartley for macgregor might tempt wenger to let him go.Davis could be on his way back to EPL with blackburn, bolton and newcastle trying to sign him.Bolton are still trying to get jelavic who has had his mind twisted by his agent as they are offering 60k a week.Bougherra will end up in the championship which is why davie weir is going through fitness tests at the moment to establish whether or not he could be an asset next season.Mccoist's time is getting taken up with the jelavic talks, it wont be announced yet as the rangers fans will be in limbo so im taking a risk with this post but im fed up wi the garbage thats getting spouted.Rangers are not as well off as it seems.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Utter utter Bullsh@t say no more........

Agree0 Disagree1

Jelavic said he is going nowhere jeeez the transfer market aint even open and il say it again anyone in an executive role isnt going to spout s**te to someone and undermine the hard work they put in to be in that position in the first place. man alive next time ur delivering ur avon stick to the task or il manage you out the door.

And Mo Johnstone paraded around the piggery in a celic top before signing for the gers anything can happen

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2011 16:17:29
Let's look at things logically. Mr Whyte has, on various ocassions, stated that Ally will have up to £12m to spend this season. Now, that will cover the costs of:

- Transfer Fees & Wages of new signings.
- Wages for existing players contract renewals.

We are going to lose the following players from last seasons regular squad:

- Foster (Loan Expired)
- Bartley (Loan Expired)
- Weiss (Loan Expired)
- Diouf (Loan Expired)
- Healy (Contract Expired)
- Weir (Contract Expired)

Therefore, we will be left with a squad of:

1. McGregor
4. Broadfoot
5. Papac
6. McCulloch
7. Edu
8. Davis
10. Fleck
11. Lafferty
14. Naismith
16. Whittaker
18. Jelavic
19. Beattie
24. Bougherra
25. Alexander
28. Kerkar
29. Little
31. Adam
39. Wylde
40. Ness
41. Hutton
45. Cole

So we would have 14 recognised senior players, and various youngsters.

I would then like to see us sign 8 players.

Firstly, we need central defenders. My choices would be Carlos Cuellar for £2m, and Kyle Bartley for £1.5m. As well as Danny Wilson on loan.

A left back is also required, Lee Wallace being the obvious choice for around £750k.

In midfield, I feel Alan Smith would be a good option providing he can prove his fitness in Pre-Season as his ability is not in question.

We need a creative wide man, and Vladimir Weiss is the stand out option. He clearly doesn't have a future at Manchester City after being offered to Udinese, and has only one year to run on his deal there. So it would make sense to take him on loan again, then we could offer him a permanent contract come January in accordance with the Bosman ruling. What a piece of business this would be as he has potential to be worth £10m+ in the future.

Up front I would sign David Goodwillie for £2m. He has great potential and more importantly, he wants to play for Rangers. I would also go for Carlos Vela of Arsenal on loan. He seems to be surplus to requirements at Emirates and would be a sensation in Scotland. Can also be a creative force on either wing.

In terms of players already at the club, I would offer new and improved deals to:

David Healy (2012) - Squad Player
Allan McGregor (2017)
Steven Whittaker (2016)
Steven Davis (2016)
Nikica Jelavic (2016)

I would sell Kirk Broadfoot, Andrew Little and James Beattie.

I would make Allan McGregor the new club captain and Steven Naismith vice-captain.

This would give us a much stronger squad of 21 senior players, as well as all the youngsters we have at the club. Therefore in full, my ideal squad for the 2011-2012 season would be:

1. Allan McGregor (C)
2. Steven Whittaker
3. Lee Wallace
4. Carlos Cuellar
5. Sasa Papac
6. Lee McCulloch
7. Steven Naismith (VC)
8. Steven Davis
9. Nikica Jelavic
10. John Fleck
11. Kyle Lafferty
12. Carlos Vela
13. Neil Alexander
14. Jamie Ness
15. David Healy
16. Kyle Hutton
17. Alan Smith
18. David Goodwillie
19. Maurice Edu
20. Vladimir Weiss
21. Kyle Bartley
22. Danny Wilson
23. Gregg Wylde
24. Madjid Bougherra
25. Darren Cole
26. Grant Adam
28. Salim Kerkar

Any thoughts Ed?

{Ed010's Note -well thought out arguement, identifying our strengths and weaknesses and also identifying possible targets. I will leave it to others to comment on players that they like and others they don't.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

I agree with most of that mate

Agree2 Disagree0

Are you Ally in disguise ?

Agree2 Disagree0

I think that squad youve chosen is a bit unrealistic. The positions youve identified are 100% correct. Its not unrealistic regards the players youve chosen but just the sheer amount of players coming in, that will never happen. The centre half position I reckon we will get one of those players and it will be Bartley. Weiss is an option but i thought Mancini said no to playing in scotland again? I may be wrong. Alan Smith is injury prone and would command a hefty wage which by the looks of things we can't afford. Regards the captaincy I think the captain will be Steve Davis with Mcrgregor as Vice captain. Great ideas though.

Agree3 Disagree0

Only one problem with the post, the 12m figure was based upon selling players, the bottom figure is 5 mil.The other 7 mil was gonna be the sale of macgregor who im told aston villa are the only club who will touch him, heard earlier on that arsenal have dropped their interest.

Agree0 Disagree1

I wasn't saying this is what WILL happen, everything I've written above are my own opinions on what I feel we need to compete in four competitions next season. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Agree0 Disagree0

For once someone that has the ability to think before spouting crap. personaly id keep broadfoot and get cuellar in jan or take him on a pre contract. broadfoot is a cb but is like a train with no brakes bombing forward he wins so many fouls cos he ploughs in to guys full pelt. aye id keep him

INS:
Carlos Cuellar £2m
David Goodwillie £1.5m
Rudi Skacel free
Danny Wilson loan
Aaron Niguez free
Rob Earnshaw free

OUTS:
Salim Kerkar free
James Beattie £500-800k
El-Hadji Diouf loan return
Kyle Bartley loan return

Ally is not willing to match the seven figure fee Wenger desires for Bartley and therefore will make no further attempt to sign him.
Davis and McGregor will sign new deals promptly while Whittaker will see his contract through to the end of the season before thinking about signing a new deal.
Davie Weir will sign a player/coach contract.

He has been a hit wherever he has gone with the fans, although he didn't score many at Rangers he gave 100% and played for the jersey I think Super Ally should make a move for him again. Surely with the players around him, his 2nd spell would see much more goals. TAKE A CHANCE COISTY

Im happy mccoist and whyte arent rushing into deals because as we seen with jelavic, it might just take that one good signing to make a real difference.
As for players who leave and are rumoured to come back, theres a few that i would welcome back (hutton, cuellar )but ppl like boydy who left for money not a chance, youve made your bed
the core of the team is good we just need a couple of decent quality signings, a couple of squad players and i wouldnt be too bothered at another 2 loan signings to bolster the squad.

Would certainly give the Champions a solid stable base for FOUR IN A ROW. Possible line up 4-3-3 next year; McGregor: Hutton, Bartley, Cuellar, Wallace : McCulloch, Davis, Naismith : Weiss, Goodwillie, Jelavic. What do my fellow Bears out there think?????

the word going about miller returning to us could be true, at the time he left the bank was effectively running rangers. Was it he was forced out for the cash at the time ? it didn't seem logical to me that a player who has scored 20 odd goals in the first half of a season and seen rangers dominate the league due to this and then would be sold. this could have cost rangers the money for winning the league and champions league money next season and it was at risk with jelavic injured and no out-and-out goal scorer in the team. The money brought in for his transfer was no where near covering the loss we would have had if we came second . whats your views on this ? believe or not ?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

WHAT?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nonsense, the real reason miller left was that rangers tried to make money out of him, newcastle offered 3 mil for him, rangers then tried to get goodwillie on the cheap, thomson said to murray and bain you get 3 mil for miller we will have that, kenny got wind of it and thought stuff it ahm off, so dont expect him to return anytime soon.

Interesting that folk are saying Hutton is staying at Spurs "important player" etc. Well he is being used as a pawn to try and buy other players for Spurs according to Sky / talksport. Therefore he IS surplus. At the moment he feels a bit alone and fed up at the way he is being treated. Watch this space Wont take much dosh to get him back and he wont have same issues as Boyd given that Allan left . . . well was forced out the door rather than demanding to go like Boydo
The Lampard thing aint far fetched. He is a fairly down to earth guy and lets face it might want to enjoy a couple of yeras of "fun" at Gers. Coisty knows him well from his Question of Sport days

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Just thought I'd throw this in. Tottenham supporters recently voted Hutton as the clubs worst right back of the last decade, they do not rate him one bit.

Agree1 Disagree1

McLeish and Bruce were both allegedly quoted £6M for him when they enquired.

We dont have that kind of money so no chance of Hutton comming back here.......

Ally this is becoming a concern Don't go to the media saying you expect to hear something on the Danns deal within 48 hrs unless you are convinced he is actually coming. So Eagles chose Burnley, Danns chose Leicster, Conway chose Cardiff. This is indeed terrible I expect Wallace and Goodwillie to sign hardly magic signings. I don, t fancy bringing Carlos back either with his tail between his legs. We need young hungry lads from if necessary the lower English leagues such as Adam le Fondre, Charlie Austin etc and PAY THE MONEY oh and and if you'd rather play in Turkey go.

Think it's a certainty that we will get Goodwillie and Wallace and hopefully Cuellar. Not too bothered about missing out on Conway and Danns, anyone that turns their back on the prospect of Champions League football and medals for the Championship doesn't deserve to pull on a Gers top. Same reason why I hope we steer well clear of Boyd.

Think we might try and suppliment our squad with good young scottish players like Murray Davidson and Jamie Murphy. Would loved to have seen Dorrans or Hutton come back, just can't se either happening.

Swap the name cuellar for craigan, weiss for foster, hutton for dixon and goodwillie for russell and you will be alot closer to Real rumours boys. As for lampard and drenthe remember conway, danns, hemed and whittaker? Same reasons their not at ibrox, whyte is skint which means you are skint. Never mind though you might rothen back Enjoy the chase o players

Wait til Sept 1st before you start your gloating about who we have or haven't signed. Remember when you bought robbie keane and you knew yous would win the league...what happened....oh thats right.....Glasgow Rangers Champions...... and last year, when Izzaguirre "knocked us Back" and we had no cash.....What happened.....Oh thats right....Glasgow Rangers Champions ohhh ohhh ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh oohhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhh

Forever in the shadow of the champs, there will be an easy shift for the Cleaners at the Multi-Story temple of doom this year again

I was given info last night on N/S that ally threatened to resign and had a real ding dong with Whyte, this was apparantly all to do with whytes signing policies G.Smith supposedly stepped in and convinced Ally to think and stay with the programme, in a manner of speaking. This was from a employee at Ibrox, MMmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I am a worrried Bear, Rangers 'til I die

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Hate to say it but whyte did not want ally as manager and he sounded out one or two others who knocked us back, thats why whyte is not 100% pushing the boat out.

Im a bit too long in the tooth to be bothered about whats going on here to be honest, Its true when one gets older that change is not welcome in a number of ways..I dont know if whyte will be good for Rangers or not? but he, s here and you lot just have to accept that. One thing I will say is that the majority of traffic on this forum if you can call it thatis that its full of school kids and illiterate nobodies who post so much rubbish on here you should be able to claim tax relief on it, its a pity for the real 50,000 or so rangers fans who are left that their weekend entertainment has become a play thing for the scum but drugs and internet and of course the bigotry issues have made me see the light and I am not interested in it this isnt the sport it used to be money is the root of all thats bad so im out. 666

Ok this is Serouis no jokes we should get cullear because the offer will be 1.5m including James Beattie , also goodwille is 50/50 as whyte won't pay 2m and Dundee united want 2m , both David weir and Healy could return on 1 year deals the reason being McCoist knows weir would be a ok sub if anyone is injured , he also knows if Healy can gain confidence back and better fitness he will be a goal scorer because he's scored against the worlds best teams such as hatrick against Spain goal against England and other epic goals. Also mcoist will look at maybe some sort of midfielder can't see us getting one though , anyone who says this Is BS needs to stop being irogant because we won't be getting top quality players , whyte is only handing out 5M maybe less for all we know.

I must be "IROGANT " then, stop babbling, GUFF YA TRUMPET, ttfn

Seriously guys, why do so many of you feel the need to put 'rumours' on here of ex-Rangers players returning.... Hutton, Boyd, miller, ferguson, sebo? they all left for a reason....money And cos they thought they could make the 'big time'. Don't be fooled by ' I was forced out the door'..'rangers needed the money' etc. If a player wants to stay, for the love of the club or wotever other reason, then they don't hv to go anywhere. How long did Bobo Balde warm a seat in the stand at scumsville cos he refused to go anywhere?l Let's face it miller saw his move to turkey as a tax-free nest egg, Boyd's boots were bigger than his feet could fill n his true colours were seen in the big world. Ferguson, obvious unrest in the dressing room if true but that no doubt no-one will ever know the truth? Plus seems happy down south, Hutton was kicked out for being a bad boy (let's leave it at that) n Gers cashed in when they had opportunity, Sebo, well I'll say no more.....wot the team needs is fresh blood who wants to play for the jersey, that Ally can build a team out of and be there for the future So let's get real guys and have faith in Ally eh?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Great post mate, now is it just me or did anyone else notice that on last seasons form jamie Ness looks as though he could be one of the most polished midfielders in the UK and therefore possibly the player that Ally should build his team around rather than worrying about where steven davis may end up or who we may or may not sign, this kid has the potential to be one of the greatest Rangers ever if i, m wrong then Anton Rogan really was a great player. Stop worrying lads Ness is Untouchable

Who keeps posting this rubbish about hutton coming back? No chance if we cant give neil danns the wages where we going get the wages for hutton.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Do you not realise that Rangers will pay players relative to the value that they think the player brings to the team. For example Whittaker was offered 20k a week because McCoist obviously feels he is an important player. Danns may not have been a weekly starter and so therefore would only be worth paying maybe 10k a week.
