Thought every player on the pitch last night was super ! Kyle Hutton shoulda been on from the first minute! My question to Super Ally is where has he been all this season? He had an average game on day 1, but last night proved he could walk into any SPL team! Let's hope the Gers get a win against Mechanics and get a few wins on the roll!

I've been to every home Champions league game that Celtic have ever played and all i can say is the Benfica game was as full as i've seen Celtic Park for these occasions apart from for some reason a row of seats of maybe 20 half way up the North stand, don't know where they got the 53,000 figure from! I would say there was round about 59,000 there...Fact... Anyway why are Celtic attendances getting talked about on The Rangers page
Agree9

28 Sep 2012 01:07:03
Some seats do get blocked out. I'm pretty sure theres a ruling that in CL games no spectator can be within the field of play. For some grounds this isnt a problem but at others it means seats get blocked off.

I have seen on these pages, the Celtic supporters saying that prices are one third or half price. What a load of tosh, the season tickets are a third off, not a third of the price. I would also point out that last nights game was pay, not covered by season tickets, the game was live on a main channel.
My season tickets for me and my son were still £1200, reduced from £1600.
When you are getting crowds of 14000 please don't embarrass yourselves any more by making up prices
that suit your argument, but are completely inaccurate.

Re:reply 4 - I can assure you, Celtic are not suffering financially due to Rangers' death. Debt was £7m up till June 2012: we then secure champions league money, sell a bench-warmer for £6.5m and everything is just fine. Oh, and Celtic are still owed money from McGeady's move to Spartak. It just keeps getting better. Read it and weep, my zombie friend. Accept it, we just don't need your Rangers franchise that much.

@ 4 In the history of stupid things said in here, and lets face it from both sides there is a lot of examples, yours is easily amongst the dumbest.
Given the averages so far Celtic will make approximately £10.2m more at the gate than Rangers from league games this season. (Want the figures? I'll happily oblige). Approximately £21m from Champions league prior to one point being won. Sold Ki for £6.5m. That's £37.7m, you have the paltry amount made from the Ramsden Cup and both the teams have the domestic cups left. STARVE US OF MONEY? ARE YOU INSANE?

Was it not closer to 25k then 30? And if the prices were the same as Celtic do you think you would have got that much, or if the prices for Celtic were as low as yours do you not think more ppl would have gone to the game even thought ppl have holidays and mid week and all? Your attendance thing is the only thing that seems to be good about your club cause it seems that's all you talk about, is it to distrack you from the bad games(cg isnt doing enough for you in that aspect?)For any club could have the most attendance on any given day if no other clubs are playing, would that be a new record as well, if so every day would have a new record and the record books would be as big as your ego and arrogence.

36000 paying 70% of the price - vastly reduced outgoings = no need for desperation - tickets given away were over and above the 30000 who paid - they were given away to hurry things up and let people in as queues were so big - unlike earlier in the season they couldn't delay ko as it was live on BBC - if your going to write twisted nonsense, at least try and get it right ...... With the revelation that Green met Murray yesterday it maybe assumed that hes playing a very dangerous game, colluding as to how they can minimise damages etc.
From a creditors view point it doesn't look good, Green meeting one of the men who was responsible for consigning the club he's trying to reincarnate to liquidation.
From a liquidators viewpoint also you have a situation were there's even more evidence to suggest that a gratuitous alienation has taken place.
Believable5

Gratuitous alienation doesn't this only come about when it's a person that's been sequestrated and not a actual company, which would involve liquidation and eventually dissolution?

Calm down everyone about the free tickets, people were getting free tickets at the last minute as we knew they wouldnt have sold. Better to have 15,000 people paying full price to watch something rather than letting in more than that for free and claiming the attendance was 29,000.
It doesn't make business sense! {Ed001's Note - yes it does, the staff are there to deal with the higher numbers already, so higher numbers will just mean more money from concession stands ie food and drink.}
Agree3
Disagree6
Ed, you've obviously not got a business brain. I take it you pick up the same wage, every month and are in a mind numbing job that's dissolved any brain cells you had? {Ed001's Note - actually no, sorry, I happen to know that only someone with no idea about business would think that letting people in for free, rather than having empty seats and excess food that has to just be disposed of, would be a bad idea. The police and staff have been employed on the basis of having a large crowd, those costs aren't going to be reduced by having empty seats. There is nothing to gain by leaving the seats empty, nothing. There is a chance those people that come in will spend money buying food, drink and merchandise, so increasing income on the night. You still want to carry on being an arse about something you clearly have no clue about?}
Agree5
Disagree2
For those fans who got in free they must have turned up willing to pay but were let in for free because game was about to start. Rangers did a good thing and it made sure ibrox was rocking at kickoff. We all know what Celtic would make them miss the first twenty mins and still charge there fans thirty quid

So why buy a ticket for the next mid week game? wait until on the night and see if you get in free, if not then you pay. Think we're undermining ourselves with this strategy and diluting the brand.

it seems to me to be 2 scenarios here.
1. CG expected a bumper crowd and had suitable levels of staffing/police/cateering to manage - for the supposed not walking away fan base that wasn't the case, thus freebies in an attempt to purchase food, give appearance on tv of nearly full stadium etc etc.
2. An inept set up that one again can't handle large crowds as has been shown already this season. TV most likely forced issue due to scheduling and game had to kick off on time. If that was the case then 99% of those milling around just before k/o would have been expecting to pay and so lost revenue. Its unprecedented and will certainly make a lot of people think of acting in same manner next time around there's a decnt profile TV game

Yip your team, which is the second highest paid in Scotland yet cant beat Annan, Peterhead and QOS, did well last night. However I think one of the favourite sayings you lot had was "be carefull what you wish for" so I can assure you that Celtic would happily meet you in the next round.

Remember clyde ross county with roy keane etc rangers have still to lose to a 3rd division team septic fans are not as loyal as the gers fans

Seen the other day on here fans wanting Naismith severely punished for an off the ball incident when he played in the Scotland game . Just wondering will we get the same outcry about your Captains deliberate elbow on a player last night......DH

Giant killing.... what giant.
Motherwell no internationalists, and meager wages in SPl. Hardly benfica or real madrid ?
They draw 3-3 with aberdeen, 2-0 with gers, and will get spanked by celtic this weekend.
Giants!

Correct me if am wrong but at the time of the game Motherwell were top of sphell hence being the best team in Scotland at the time doesn't say much for the tic does it

Top by two points having played a game more than Celtic who are one win away from top spot and have been concentrating on the Champions League. Only 7 games played in a 38 game season. You bears just love to believe that last night was a shock unexpected result haha anything to make the pain of your situation better lol.

Have to say thought Alexander did great tonight. For a man who has played second best for a long time, he showed what a good goalie he is. His save from the free kick low to his left was first class.
Whilst in the mood to praise, Emilson was much, much better tonight, he looked a class act. Aird is a breath of fresh air, so direct. However I thought Hutton deserves a big
mention. Thought he did a great job tonight and if he plays like that he has to play. When you consider that we were without Black & Templeton, tonight was a real good performance.
And lastly yet again the crowd were superb. For a game that was shown live on BBC to get a crowd like that was superb. Our friends across the city were sadly posted missing in recent games but that's no surprise. The fact that they are in SPL and getting beaten and no criticism forthcoming is the beginning of a decline in their crowds. They don't care if they beaten now because it doesn't matter, they know they will win the league. If they were in this position if we were there they would be calling for Lennons head.

Lennon wouldn't stick at the Celtic job if he was in the 3rd division.

Weren't 75% of the punters on here a week ago calling for the head of McCoist and most were crying out for McCall to be manger . Just enjoy your win and stop boring people with this we can get a bigger crowd than yous crap.........DH
Agree10

Maybe that's because Lennons capabilities mean that he's above the Third Division.
He certainly wouldn't need to manage a side of Celtic or heaven forbid a reincarnation of them because Celtic pay their bills.

Credit where credits due, that was the best performance since the Celtic game last September, I love seeing players run at defenders and we have been lacking that for ages, and once Templetons back we will be spoilt for choice.
Rightly so young Fraser Aird should take many plaudits but I would also like to point out Kyle Hutton who I thought ran the show in the midfield, this boy must be given a chance now.
It's too soon to get carried away and we will find out this weekend if lessons have been learned but tonights performance proves that the players have the ability.
Long may it continue.

For the many it masks the realities if what has and is happening down Ibrox way.

@2 Not a Gers fan but I was happy for you all last night as you have been through so much(some well deserved ok)but this season has been bad in Div 3.So I for one was glad you got something to lift you all ---esp. the kids---Keep thinking how I'd feel if it was my team.
You see, some of us do have a heart. Not saying I miss you ,well, miss the extra edge a bit.
Anyway just wanted to congratulate the win and see a few smiling faces this morning---not seen for months.

God I love the Rangers. I feel so good tonight and I really didn't fancy our chances. Great performances from the young boys which is all good for the future.
The fans, once again turned up in good numbers despite it being shown live. The atmosphere was great yet again.
There were times I thought I may never see them
again and even though we are where we are, the true Rangers spirit was on full show tonight.
We will be back and when we win the SPL, if there is such a thing, will be the best ever. That will be some party!
Going to bed a happy bear tonight, just to see some grit, fight, determination, and no little ability. Well done guys!
