I see Sutton is embarrassing himself again, he can’t get a good story of interest so he goes back to baiting the Gers, what was that team he managed in England? Crawley was it? If yes the name suits him “Crawler” my mate Lenny, is all he mostly says, “ Chris “ Lenny will not bring you back to Celtic, what say you 88?

13 Apr 2019 13:47:23
Uman - best to ignore the bitter man and dinnae let him get under your skin.

13 Apr 2019 14:11:54
Lincoln city.

13 Apr 2019 14:33:03
Your right of course NNCato, but the man is a very dislikable person. So it was Lincoln City he managed, or mismanaged? I can’t wait for the day he’s lost for words.

13 Apr 2019 17:18:02
that wee ginger fellow just doesn't now when to keep his mouth shut, how can you feel sorry for him he has wee man syndrom he is either going to a fight or coming back from one, guy is a first class breasticle.

13 Apr 2019 17:47:20
Reached the pinnacle of football management at Lincoln City. Needless to say did not last long before got shot of him.

Uman - this is the reason the bigot hates us and drives him - never ever let him forget it!

Rangers 6-1 Dunfermline Athletic

An injury-time penalty by Mikel Arteta clinched the SPL title for Rangers in an amazing afternoon at Ibrox.

Rangers were 5-1 up as the match entered the last few minutes, but with Celtic 4-0 up at Rugby Park and still playing, they knew the championship was not yet theirs.

But when Arteta stepped up to slot the ball past Derek Stillie after Neil McCann had been brought down, the Ibrox nerves were finally settled.

Michael Mols had given Rangers the lead, Jason Dair equalised, before Claudio Caniggia, Shota Arveladze, Ronald de Boer and Steven Thompson put Rangers on the road to the title.

Rangers got the early goal that they were looking for when De Boer and Caniggia unlocked the Dunfermline defence and Mols adjusted his feet superbly to direct the ball past Derek Stillie and into the net.

It could and should have been two a minute later when Caniggia delivered for De Boer, but the Dutchman somehow headed past from point-blank range.

But in 11 minutes, Dunfermline were level. Craig Brewster laid the ball into the path of Dair who crashed a 25-yard drive past the despairing dive of Stefan Klos.

Five minutes later, Rangers regained the initiative. Fernando Ricksen refused to give up the chase on the right and reaped the rewards when he got the benefit of a ricochet in the tackle with Barry Nicholson.

The ball fell kindly to Caniggia who placed the ball past Stillie.

Stillie denied Rangers a third after 24 minutes when Arveladze played in Mols, but this time the keeper got down to beat away the Dutchman's effort.

A minute later, it took a last-ditch challenge from Scott Wilson to halt Mols as he prepared to test Stillie again.

Rangers finally got the third goal on the half-hour mark when Lorenzo Amoruso managed to keep the ball in before delivering a perfect ball for Arveladze to flick the ball past Stillie with his head.

Stillie kept the score down twice in quick succession, saving from Mols and Amoruso as Rangers looked for more goals.

Stillie's first involvement in the second half was to field an Amoruso free kick after 49 minutes.

Moments later De Boer shot wide from a good position and then Rangers had a claim for a penalty turned down when Arveladze's shot was blocked by Chris McGroarty's elbow.

Amoruso missed a glorious chance to increase Rangers' lead when he blasted the ball over from 10 yards after Stillie was penalised for picking up a passback.

At the other end, Klos produced an amazing flying save from Brewster as Dunfermline caught Rangers on the counter attack.

In the end the best team won.

Raise your glasses to Alex McLeish and the squad

De Boer made it 4-1 with a superb header in 65 minutes to hand Rangers the initiative in the title race again.

Two minutes later, Thompson squeezed the ball over the line after superb play by Neil McCann on the left.

In 70 minutes Thompson headed just wide as Rangers sought to wrap up the title.

In 89 minutes, Thompson again came within inches of making the title safe for Rangers, but his header came back off the angle of post and bar and landed in the arms of Stillie.

But then came that late penalty and an ice-cool Arteta did the business from the spot.

Remember it well as I won £500 with Sunderland, Hull and Rangers winning their leagues - thought my line was gubbed!

Thanks for brining back great memories NNC.

13 Apr 2019 19:55:45
Amazing post Cato.

14 Apr 2019 03:18:24
I actually like listening to Sutton making a tit of himself, he's very entertaining. Keep it up Sutton.

14 Apr 2019 08:45:29
Sutton, Stewart, Walker et al should be stuck in a room, locked away and forced to watch the Rangers 6 Dunfermline 1 video endlessly. Talk about purgatory for them.

14 Apr 2019 09:30:52
NNCato
You’ll never die in an asylum with a memory like that, you certainly know your Rangers.

14 Apr 2019 12:56:38
Nice cut and paste Cato, well done.

14 Apr 2019 12:57:49
Ulsterman - lolol

I am already in one lol

I wish I had a memory like that - this is an old transcript I had on my laptop from way back - it summed up the day perfectly.

One thing it did do was bring back how good these players were - Helicopter Sunday is something that that lot in the east end only dream about but will never emulate.

14 Apr 2019 13:51:16
So am I NNCato, it’s called NI. 😂.

14 Apr 2019 17:04:34
They lay down to us remember 😉.

14 Apr 2019 17:18:33
I remember the day well cato👍.

14 Apr 2019 17:23:30
Ulsterman - I have been to NI on many occasions very very friendly place especially Belfast, which always reminds me of Glasgow - the best wee town in the world.

14 Apr 2019 19:34:04
Cato - I’m a Belfast guy, my wife’s is a Shankill road girl, though we now live in posh Carrickfergus, you’re right Belfast and Glasgow are alike, when I’m over I stay in Airdrie, great family great people.

15 Apr 2019 19:00:03
Cato geez I thought I was listening to sportsound there lad but yeah great post and yet another great day in my clubs great history!

13 Apr 2019 09:30:29
Hi everyone. Regarding Soutar he's a really good player and he would improve us, very comfortable with the ball confident quick and a great passer which Wirral isnt. Would cost a bit but I think we'll worth it.

13 Apr 2019 11:48:15
Hi Robbie C.

Don't know if you intended to misspell his name, did you mean to say Worryall of us by any chance (his defending def worries me) ha ha.

13 Apr 2019 12:50:50
I think we’ve all misspelt Sauttar’s name, I didn’t realise it was spelt with two Ts .

13 Apr 2019 18:56:25
Souter’s young brother, currently at Stoke City and on loan at Fleetwood, is a better prospect than the Hearts player.

Review Of The Day 13th April 2019

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 13th April 2019

12 Apr 2019 22:56:03
I read that Rangers are looking at Souter of Hearts for a summer transfer, what’s the views on this Coop etc?

13 Apr 2019 02:40:53
Ulsterman I don't think he would improve you's. He is no better than what you's already have.

I think katic is far better than souter, I can't understand why worrall gets a game ahead of katic as well.

13 Apr 2019 07:43:38
It’s very likely that both Worrall and McAuley won’t be there next season so we would definitely need at least 1 centre half maybe 2. Not sure if we have anyone coming through ranks that’s ready to play there so Soutar could be a good option. However I doubt very much Hearts will want to sell to us.

13 Apr 2019 08:12:55
Arthur is right, McCauley and worrall will be away in summer and I'd say we need 4 center backs. I've not heard of any outstanding youths chapping the door right now in that position. Hearts I'd think will play hard ball but in my opinion soutar has room for improvement but a reliable option if signed. Would like to see a natural left footed center half as well.

13 Apr 2019 12:25:35
Would take him in a minute. Young Scottish player who will improve with better players around him 100%.

13 Apr 2019 15:37:04
Everytime i've saw john souttar playing against us, i've been quite impressed with him. He is a good passer of the ball and is good football playing centre half, who will continue to get better, with age. IMO souttar would be a good signing for us, but hearts will play hardball with us and make it extremely difficult, for us to sign him. If we can sign souttar, we will have 3 good centre halfs in goldson,
katic and souttar, as far as i'm concerned.

13 Apr 2019 16:23:44
Over the years too many young scots get ignored by us and then end up doing well down south. Souttar is a player that can play in the Spl and is young enough to develop. Would be a good addition. I also think we should buy liam kelly back and loan him back to livi for a year before we regret that aswell. Great young keeper who could easily get a move to a higher level. 👍.

13 Apr 2019 16:31:15
Coldo, Kelly was released as Robbie McCrorie was saw as the long term replacement for Shagger. Wes is likely gone in the summer and Robbie will understudy for a year unless they feel another year out on loan would be beneficial. And that’s from the horses mouth as they say.

13 Apr 2019 16:42:09
L17mac, liam kelly is a better than robbie mccrorie👍.

13 Apr 2019 17:52:30
I'm in total agreement with you on this one coldo. Liam kelly is a better goalkeeper than robbie mccrorie! No contest as far as i'm concerned, although i'm not saying for one minute, that mccrorie isn't a good, young keeper. I would bring kelly back from livingston as allan mcgregor's longterm replacement, if it was left to me.

13 Apr 2019 18:22:28
Coops, how often have u watched Kelly and mccrorie, Robby far better, and mcgregor told rangers this,
Coldo, no need to buy Kelly back, his stated gameplay is three years at livi, then return to rangers on free.
Let him play another 100 games at livi see if he keeps developing.

13 Apr 2019 18:59:25
Jboy21, really hope Robby comes good. Anytime I’ve seen him he has not convinced me.

13 Apr 2019 20:25:54
Jboy21,i have seen robbie mccrorie quite a few times with the scotland unders. I have also seen liam kelly playing for rangers youth/ unders teams. I'm not for one minute slating young robbie mccrorie, as i think he's a good, young keeper, but IMO now and even when liam kelly was robbie mccrorie's age, i think kelly is a better goalkeeper than mccrorie and that's my honest opinion mate. I've also watched some of liam kelly's performances for livingston and he's been superb for them. I did say on here a while back, that liam kelly shouldn't be sold and was a future rangers no.1.That was long before we brought back allan mcgregor. I truly do think that kelly would/ should be allan mcgregor's successor. that's my opinion mate. Can't say or add anymore than that.

13 Apr 2019 21:04:05
Cool coops, but why buy someone back who says his plan is to return for nothing when he leaves livi.

13 Apr 2019 21:05:20
It's also worth remembering Kelly was not sold, left at end of contract as he was fourth or fifth choice.

13 Apr 2019 22:46:08
We will NOT buy back LK. He was sold as those at the club see RM as the better long term option. Again that’s from the horses mouth. Who SC11 and Coldo rate higher is absolutely irrelevant.

13 Apr 2019 22:48:31
SC11 “no contest as far as I’m concerned” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

14 Apr 2019 07:24:22
Thats my view and opinion of both liam kelly and robbie mccrorie.
Simple as that L17Mac. If you think differently mate, then that is entirely up to you.

14 Apr 2019 13:20:25
L17mac, so because it came from the horses mouth as you say then that means that for definate mccrorie will be better than kelly? Its completely irrelevant that it came from the horses mouth because the horse was wrong, Kelly is better than mccrorie and albeit kelly plans to return for free after 3yrs, what if livi get a bid this summer from let's say an eng champ team? Will livi knock it back because kelly wants to come to us for free? We will have lost another young player that could easily make the grade at us. As coop said that's not a slate on mccrorie but kelly is by far the better prospect👍.

14 Apr 2019 18:18:04
Coldo, if we kept every young player, we would have about 100 on the books.

15 Apr 2019 08:31:03
Why would we keep every young player jboy? that's just daft👍. Keep the ones who are good enough to be in the first team. We have let too many go over the years that were deemed not good enough and then went on to do really well down south. Anyway who said that we should keep every young player? Or are you just making that up? 👍.

15 Apr 2019 19:01:17
I'm just gobsmacked that Coop had agreed with Coldo and reply to the post I'd give Kelly another year and then try sign him or if McGregor is fit and doing enough wait till Kelly's contract is up ( and as previous poster said he has came out and said his game plan is to come back to be the Bears no 1 ) now that shagger is back its unreal that we have to think about a replacement for him as I for one thought at the start of the season maybe just maybe thought he'd lost it but I'm so so wrong!
