before the season started king promised all this years season ticket money to be spent on players so surely we can afford the players Warburton has identified also said if manager came up to him said i have identified this player but he is not in the budget but can help us over the next couple year king said he would tell the manger to take him so if this is the case the boy from Brentford should be bought and Warburton thinks he is good player and that should be good enough for king to go out get this player for Warburton if this deal does not go threw a lot of people will start to wonder if our chairman was being truthful to us am impressed with team but a lot that is down to Warburton not king its time for him to back up some of these promises he made.

12 Jan 2016 23:29:24
It will be very interesting to see whether Warburton is forced to sell Waghorn or whether he will hold on to him and bring in more quality players. The answer to these questions will determine whether King has the funds to invest or whether he is just full of wind!

Waggy is going nowhere, he is on the crest of a wave and enjoying his football for the first time in yonks. The two targets warbs is after will be here at weekend just a bit of rangling needing done, all looking good as far as I'm concerned.

I hope you're right stuzo, Craig does raise some very valid points though re DK. I sincerely hope he hasn't just talked the talk to get his foot in the door. Time will tell I guess.

13 Jan 2016 13:32:49
To true pie and bov, however, I think this is a true tester for Dave King, we are not talking a lot of money, so, for me, this will give a true indication of DKs intentions. Is it all wind and posh or will he finally put the doubters to rest? Time will surely tell.

Luongo won player of the tournament at the recent concaf tournament would I jest energy to the middle of the park, all roads point to looking for a solid midfielder which we haven't had since Steve Davis.

{Ed001's Note - it wasn't concaf, he is Australian and CONCACAF is North and Central America, while Australia play in the Asian Nations. He did play well, which is why QPR bought him.}

i know I come across as sometimes negative but I can't help wondering about all the young players we send out on loan, including those sent out back in Ally and McDowells days. What exactly has it done for us AND the youngsters? very few ever get a chance to shine in our first team, and most end up being transferred permanantly, so it begs me to say, what is the point of Murray Park?
We are bringing in young players from other clubs, yet the point surely of any academy is to produce young talent, so if we are failing on that then surely it must be down to the way Murray Park is being managed?

12 Jan 2016 12:04:02
Wee bill. we do produce good young talent, but. only one or 2 are going to get a sniff at bench. we must win championship at all costs. no room for error, sadly that means buy ready talent. the chance to blood a string of mp talent was in 3rd division. only exeptinal talent from mp will break into first team. time will tell.

12 Jan 2016 12:31:46
am I correct in saying Murray Park is the best TRAINING Facility in Scotland not the best academy? it's for players to train to become better? yes there is a Academy wing within the Facility however it is more for the first team? or am I completely wrong here? however on your point nothing beats first team football, and I mean long term first team football, where is the best place to get this? on loan.

The point the poster makes is that the vast majority of players that get sent out on loan don't come back and play for the first time. He whole point of loan deals is to get a player first team experience so they come back a better player and get their chance to play for the team. It seems to be at Rangers they go out on loan just to get the wage bill down slightly.

12 Jan 2016 14:50:00
Historically the club was poor at recruiting quality young players and under McCoist it is quite clear that not only did we not develop young players but indeed, the archaic training methods, (assuming of course that there was any training) , adversely affected every player at the Club.

Going forward I am confident that things are changing however for us to believe that all the youth players at the Club will be of a quality we need I suspect that we would be eluding ourselves. We need to be recruiting players that we can develop to be EPL standard. There will be some in Scotland but we will need to spread our net much wider to identify the players we need.

Biffo316 thanks for your support, that was my point and my reason for the post.

12 Jan 2016 16:11:02
Both good points but very few young players do not make it from any academy, MW has redrawn the whole philosophy of how our young ones through to the under20s train / play, loan deals are good to get the young ones out and see what it's like up against the big boys.

12 Jan 2016 19:44:06
Murray park is one piece of a very big jigsaw.
It has not been utilised properly before. Only with the right scouting recruitment and training will it reap any rewards. We have failed in the past but we are looking to be on the right path now but only time will tell.
However as for loan spells and their effectiveness you just have to look at Barrie Mckay. Some young players have the talent to step right into first teams like say Barry Ferguson. Others you can't be certain and loan spells can make a player. R. G Allan McGregor!

Your wrong about MaKay he was put out an loan as neither McCoist or McDowall rated him and wanted him off the wage bill it was only when both left and Warburton came in was he given his chance. Had either stayed you could have bet he would either have left or would have been sent out on loan again.

12 Jan 2016 20:31:29
Biff I wouldn't disagree with you on that. I'm just saying it worked for him.
Someone with as slight a build as him needs to be tested by full size players to find their way.
How he got there isn't my point.

Fair enough however like Warburton and the other players brought in we would really need to see how they fair in the top league before we can really say how good they are.

12 Jan 2016 23:34:26
I have my own thoughts on why McCoist and McDowall put players out on loan and I doubt it was that they didn't rate them! McCoist was clueless as a coach so no one was going to develop and he was taught that you buy success by Walter so he went out and acquired what he thought would take us back to the SPL but as we know, he was wrong. As for McDowall, I reckon that Walter brought him in to develop the youngsters but he was totally out of his depth as a coach!

13 Jan 2016 11:28:26
Biffo - I agree we need to get there and play the bigger teams before our true value will come to light.
People have started saying 3-4 million for Waghorn? I like him but he was a few hundred thousand 6 months ago and this is the championship! £1m is a reasonable amount. I don't want him to go but if we get 2-4 times what we spend in every transfer we will not face another time like our recent history!

12 Jan 2016 10:36:26
Im the guy who said interest in waggy from reading and sheff wed just type rangers news now in google go on to the site and read it yourself i would NEVER come on hear with made up crap to wind up fellow bears.

12 Jan 2016 11:39:58
Why on Earth Waghorn would go to Reading to play in a half empty stadium for a team that will never be anything other than also rans is beyond me. If he performs as he is at present in the SPL he will have top English sides looking to sign him.

12 Jan 2016 14:26:00
TOM42

It's still championship football which is a bigger platform to perform on than the top league in Scotland. I would also imagine Reading would offer better wages too. Don't think he will go but the championship is a big lure for a lot of players.

12 Jan 2016 14:53:01
Biffo,

I would be more worried about the Sheffield Club or other sides that might come in for him but Reading would not be a club that would develop him.

In any event, I would agree with you that I doubt he will go there since he will learn a lot more working with Warburton than he would at Reading where they change their managers at least once a season!

12 Jan 2016 16:28:33
do you honestly think that any1 in our squad would want to leave and go back to being pushed around all over the place to clubs in all corners of England, infront of sub standard crowds.

I personally think MW done the right thing, picking up people with a point to prove, who lacked stability and game time who will enjoy the fight up here and the run of games. Look at Tav and Wag, classic example, there is no way they would trade what they have just now to what they came from, I think you can rest assure the only way they would leave is if we forced them out the door for good money!

12 Jan 2016 09:44:43
Bring back maurice edu that's the kind of player were needing for a couple of seasons.

12 Jan 2016 11:18:33
Hi fellow bears. killie in the cup. personaly with no disrespect to killie, this should be a must win game for us. a lot of people saying we are 3 or 4 players from challenging the tic. i tend to agree on this. big wes is good, but would i trust him in a big game, jurys out. would also like to see a comanding cb added. also a proven striker to help out waggy. thoughts.

12 Jan 2016 15:20:27
Killie in there day are a descent side although like us have a very young team.

12 Jan 2016 16:32:49
they have a few of the ex bears from years gone by who will want to prove us wrong.

Cee, this is the test that we need, I get that you think they are a decent side but my good, if we are not confident of beating Killie, then we may as well stay in the Championship eh!

I think we are going in a good direction now, few new signs, seem to have the swagger back, scoring goals and not conceding many so I am happy with this test and I think we will turn them over at Ibrox.

If we fail to beat them then W&W will need to address more players than 3 or 4, our team, squad and style of play should tear killie apart!

12 Jan 2016 18:35:50
Be very wary of Killy. Have we learned nothing from St Johnstone result. They were poor a few months ago and are in a serious relegation battle. They are difficult opponents ask the avoiders of soap products about how challenging they can be to break down.
