Champions League XI
Mcgreggor

Mculloch Viera

Davis Eremenko

Naismith(C)

Jelavic

Subs

Alexander
Khumalo
Foster
Ortiz
Davidson
Lafferty
Goodwillie

A team that could challenge to get to quarter finals i think with luck and is realistic , viera is a hard one but he could come unless he does what a lot of greats do and go for money not trophys. To reitarate the diagram i think naismith should be captain as weir wont be playing a lot as he is blue through and through {Ed003's Note - Put it on banter for you}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Naismith is not mature enough to be the leader of the best club, to big a mouth with no constructive words

Agree0 Disagree2

To succeed davie weir my choices would be
1. Naisy
2. Mcgreggor
3. Papac
4.Davis
5. Big Lee

Agree1 Disagree0

My Captain choices would be
1 Davis
2 Shagger
3 Naisy
4 Big Lee

Agree0 Disagree0

Steven davis is a good shout as he is the driving force in the team also mcgregor i dont see mcculoch getting it because ness will probs get more games as he done well when he played papac naw and naismith nah hes to grumpy and moans to much when he dosent get his own way lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Wier should be captain when he plays
big lee as vice captain
if both are out for some reason davis is my 3rd choice

On the off chance that they did then it'd only be on any profit made on him. Can't see him going for over £9m somehow Chance would be a fine thing

A BIG SHOUT OUT FOR THE PERTH RANGERS SUPPORTERS CLUB FOR THE BANNER BEFORE THE CELTIC GAME AGAINST FERGIES KANGAROOS, AT LEAST IT CAUGHT LENNONS ATTENTION THAT HE HAD TO MOAN ABOUT IT IN SUNDAY PRESS,

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Nothing you gers fans do is original Celtic fans flew banner over ipox in 1994
it only took you lot 17 years to catch up Hail Hail Good old Neil Lennon

There are very few original things in this world im sure septic were not the first club to fly a banner over a ground.

Has anyone seen this Raul Rodriguez fella play? I've never heard of him perrsonally

nr85

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Only played 10 first team games.

Agree0 Disagree0

He s hardly played -3 years at espanyol 10 1st team games only 23 could be a real find or could be big loss

Agree2 Disagree1

Exactly.. With the size of squad we have and the need we have of getting players in who can be trusted to challenge for everything, I'm not convinced that signing 2 unknowns from Spain (1 who has only played 10 games) is going to get us there.. It seems a bit of a gamble to me. Saying that, there is a need for a bigger 'squad'..

I have been patient thus far with the Gers transfer dealings as it was only squad player targets that had lost out on. I understand that Premiership 25 men squad wont be submitted until end of August meaning we will no doubt get a player or 2 from Chelski, Man U or Spurs but only on LOAN. This has to be way forward in a financial sense but we need a CB and CM now
If we can or cant get Carlos (my top target) we still dont have him until October, loan boys arriving at end of August and Bougies commitment questionable we must get 1 solid bread and butter C Half in Yesterday, be prudent elsewhere by all means but get a Defender in now
The champions league qualifiers should be easy with an actual diddy team in 3rd round qualifiers (Barry Town etc) followed by a mediocre side like Rosenborg or Anderlecht in final qualifying round but these are the types of teams we have rsd it up against in the past and although its harder to attract players kikn off early we should be better prepared as we will have had 4 league games b4 we contest final qualifying round so although I would b delighted for K Miller and Pedro Mendes to return we have to start with Gk and Def and Shaggers already sorted so lets get a Ch in Super Ally
Gwak1873

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Followed by a mediocre side like Rosenborg or Anderlecht in final qualifying round

are u having a laugh pal these 2 teams would beat us so that must make us worse

Agree2 Disagree0

Rosenberg and Anderlecht are regular qualifiers for europe and are no mugs, your confidence is misfounded just look at gers pre season results they have not even scored a goal yet. If either of these teams drew gers they would fancy THEIR chances. Dont get Cocky until AFTER you win.

Agree0 Disagree0

After Boruc and Mcgeady left last season yous had to have others to direct your disgusting behaviour towards.. step up Lennon and Brown

Apart from the obvious players we are looking at would there be any other players from the spl that we should be looking at? Surely if we don't have a lot of cash we could get a few bargains?

I've always been patient with Mr Whyte and right now I'm not going to worry. There will be things happening in the background. I think they are trying to keep them quiet because as soon as a player is mentioned other teams just step up and pay them slightly more. So bears dint worry YET, let's see what happens in the next week because we all know we need players. The trip to Germany shows that.

i am disgusted that you allow comments from a page saying neil lennon is a disgrace to scottish football after the way things went last season after listening to a lot of phone ins where people said he brought the death threats on himself i think we should distance ourselves from those websites

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Neil Lennon is a disgrace to football full stop. His attitude stinks. Acts like a spoiled brat. Causes trouble and incites trouble and people wonder why nobody likes him. Obviously death threats etc were out of order. He is however a disgrace to football. This is only my opinion.

Agree3 Disagree3

Neil lennon is a disgrace. his behaviour is attroichious. (i agree no-one deserves threats etc) i dont think he does this for effect, i think he just dosnt know how to behave.

I know people have been having a moan about Craig Whyte and I've held my tongue but enough is enough. We were promised £5m possibly £10m if needed (which it is) for transfers. So far we've made 1 bosman signing This is a joke and was clearly a lie. We cant pretend Whyte's playing the waiting game anymore and if he is he's a fool.

Goodwillie and Cuellar are 2 quality and much needed targets available at a decent price (in todays market). If Whyte was serious he would have identified this and bought them already, or others of similar stature/quality. You cant wait in football or quibble over a few grand in wages otherwise someone else will just come in and steal your targets Bear in mind we have a champs league qualifier in 2 weeks time...will any new signings have bedded in properly by then? Seriously doubt it and by the looks of it so far our current squad aren't going to put up much of a fight. Bear in mind we were "threadbare" last season. Since then we have lost Bartley, Weiss, Foster and Weir is 41 That to me says we need at least 3 signings to get to last seasons minimum standard then probably another 3 more AT LEAST to even compete. The fact we've not made any obvious bosman signings (Eremenko, Mendes, Conway) i think proves Whyte is a joke and probably a liar ref the transfer money.

People are saying be patient but they wont be saying that when we crash out of the champs league and lose our first games of the season. Bye bye to £12m and to points that will cost is dear by the end of the season Hate to scaremonger but sometimes you have to see the facts for what they are. I hope for the best but fear the worst. You in agreement Ed? {Ed001's Note - not really, it takes time to sort out the backroom side of things and get all the staff in place.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Ortiz wasn't a bosman.

Agree3 Disagree0

If whytes got the cash hes meant to have, why cant he just go out and buy the players needed? If hes waiting on the charlie adam money coming in then i would assume hes not as flush as the press claim, just dont trust him, said it from day 1.

I wonder where the two weekend signings are? I realise that we are in talks with rodriguez but that isn't likely to be completed today so who are these two?

I think we need two first team defenders and on squad player
a good winger I.e weiss, estigarribia or templeton
and another good striker like goodwillie.
Dyou agree? Pls reply

Ok this might sound crazy but i am a photographer and spent many days at murray park, lennoxtown and many others.
I have been reading on sky sports today that Freddie Ljungberg has been released by the tic. No joke, am no a tim either, but you wouldnt believe the work rate that guy put out at training when we were there. We always thought there was a rift between him an lennon when he never gave him a game I know he is ex celtic but i would take him if he is going for free. fair enough it would be a 12month contract but he's got the experience we need and i know you will ALL disagree with me but no other c**t wants to play in the spl right now with that amount of epl and european games under his belt. I think he should be given a chance by someone cause i personaly would love it to backfire on the ginger tw*t for letting him go an making a go of it over on this side of glw

Believable3 Unbelievable2

We need good young players not old sh*t players

Agree0 Disagree1

Would give him a chance what i remember he was very good player

Agree1 Disagree0

Wouldnt touch him. best days behind him. i thought celtic were mad to go there too. the guy was finished 3 years ago. would rather see the wages he would want spent on long deals for davis and the young boys coming through.

two weeks to kick off, any sign of that warchest yet gers, another 500k spanish signing on the cards. ally sweating like a pig to get cash from c.adam sale lol cant make it up, "billionare" whyte pays £1 for your mob and still cant stump up a decent wad.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Timothy get back to ure own page we won 3iar without spending that much money yes we have to get i think 2 defenders they could be rodriguez and bartley then we have a good team we only need about another 4 or 5 players just u concentrate on ure runners up team

Agree3 Disagree2

Must be wonderful to be forever runners up and still have the balls to slate the team you are always below, just what does that say about your mob.

Agree2 Disagree1

Whyte is not daft, if he thought there was going to be a challenge from your lot he would spend. as it happens you lot are rotten, with a rotten gaffer. we could get away with signing nobody and still win the league by feb.

It's all very quiet from Ibrox just now maybe as the team are on a training excercise in Germany? Loads of silly posts and possible signings, I just think that the silence could be coming from lessons learned in losing a couple of players earlier this month. I hope that we are going about business quietly behind the scenes, and maybe, just maybe we will go public with a couple , or three new faces that no-one has mentioned, and like the old regime, produce a wee surprise signing and we can all smile again. So, stay Sssssssssssssssh Timothy, no-one cares what you think.................. Rangers 'til I die. 4 in a row

Believable2 Unbelievable1

10 Jul 2011 14:21:57
The fact we were again shown up by a german lower division team yesterday is nothing short of embarrassing, i have stated my worry in Mccoist since day 1 and so far i have been proven correct He needs to focus on getting goodwillie in and also signing a decent midfielder to accompany davis along with two decent centre backs.

Bougherra doesnt want to be at the club and weir is nothing better than very poor these days, if weir wants to continue playing he could do it at a club like stirling albion, NOT rangers I think its about time Mr. Whyte opened his wallet if we are to have any chance of 4 in a row. And btw, these two signings over the weekend? Its almost the end of the weekend and still no talk to say we are even close to signing anyone, seems like more false promises to me.

i kno this will cause a bit of a storm.. just wondered what people would think if rangers sold the name rights for the stadium?

I personally wouldnt mind if it netted us a fortune and helped the club financially, look at man city 120M to rename, wouldnt gt tht but 30-40M?

Like the Ibrox yada yada stadium..?
Agree or disagree?

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Man citys stadium has no history i think white will try and sel it but there will be outrage

Agree2 Disagree2

I think long term it may make sense but if whyte were to do it now, it would be far too early in his rangers leadership.he hasnt exactly endeared himself to the fans so far with his somewhat tight fisted approach to transfers.it would be good but not now, alarm bells are still ringing and if he were to sell the name now it would just heighten doubts about his motives and gain.just my opinion
drumlad.

Agree3 Disagree0

Aye like ibrox poundland or cost cutters lol. you were asking for that pal.

Agree1 Disagree2

What about loan ranger stadium .i.e all the loans we seem to be gettin

Agree0 Disagree2

Complaining about a Sponsor renaming Ibrox is like complaining that we shouldn't has shirt sponsors. If we could get 30 40 mil And put that into squad I'd be ok as long as it was (for Example) Irn-Bru's Ibrox Stadium. But if they take Ibrox out the Name it would bother me. But money talks and we could use it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Its not something im keen on if we got 3 million a year from it would make a huge difference we wouldnt get anything like citys deal, but if it ment we could hold on to better players and maybe capture some young quality we would have to look into it

Agree0 Disagree0

How about orange mobile stadium or walkers crisps stadium.....or even better "the orange walkers stadium"

Whyte better get his finger out of his ass and put it in his wallet soon. it was said if we needed 10M of the 25 upfront he would get it. GET IT THEN

We can not start the season like this, Weir must retire, Broadfoot is a disaster of a boy. Dont think Bougy cares.

We can cop up top and in MF for now but defensivley we are so frail its frightening..... 3-0 to Bochum, wtf All defensive errors.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Totally agree whyte really needs to get a move on we desperately need at least 5 players and if we start the season with what we've got wel get humped I dont want to sound defeatest but it's not hard to work out the beggars have no money we should take advantage of that spend a few quid n kick on and build on wat Walter achieved steph

Agree4 Disagree0

Weir must retire?? Why is that exactly? Our most consistent player last couple of seasons, get a grip.

Agree1 Disagree3

If we were to spend big this year and win the league we would go straight in champions league and that will make the cash back up ....

Agree2 Disagree0

Give broadfoot a break hes played 2 games in how many months al bet hes rarely at fault for goals conceded im not saying hes the type of player that should be in a rangers back line but es not as bad as made out to be , and weir will retire when hes good and ready he has captained us to 3 league titles and 1 more is on the card WATP
Larky bear

Agree0 Disagree0

He needs to retire bcoz hes 41 and his pace will get us slaughtered. look at the old firm game wen hooper raped him and his maw.

You get a grip, what are you like 50 and in denial that your just as fit as a 20 yr old.
bet you all if we get this spannish boy and bartley weir will be on bench,

Ally came out and said he cant play every game this season, he cnt cope with that level of games. total nob u r

Agree1 Disagree0

Papac and davis have been the most consistant acctually and weir must retire coz he cant wack it in the spl and thats saying something so what about in europe weir is the weak link of the defence

can someone tell me why sky and espn only broadcast rangers away games ?(with the exception of ibrox old firm games)

Believable0 Unbelievable1

So the stadium is full for home games.

Agree1 Disagree1

Probably something to do with a bigger viewing audience due to the amount of rangers fans unable to get tickets for away games.....

Agree1 Disagree1

The tv deal is based on ALL clubs, they cnt show every rangers and celtic home & away game.

Each club has an allocated amount of cash/game ratio that needs to be fufilled, hence why certain weekends you will get the edin derby or new fim games instead of old firm or old firm vs....

Agree1 Disagree0

Its up to rangers and they dont want home games broadcast as it may detract from the home gate

Agree0 Disagree1

Each team is allocated a certain amount of home games the small clubs always choose the old firm or rival teams Rangers choose the celtic games an a few others is all done fairly

It comes a really bad day when we cannot sign a player from hearts or dundee utd never mind santa cruz and who ever eles has been mentioned from the epl. our best change is to stop selling our huttons and charlie adams and keep our good young players(look at ajax)

Would love to be proven wrong but I'm grumpy and tired

If whyte is looking to be so cheap i could name a full outfield team and subs of great free agents

Defenders
SOL CAMPBELL - Good expierience i know weve got weir but numbers wouldnt hurt at back 4 us
MATT UPSON - Brilliant player tbh I think hes only behind terry jagielka and ferdinand for best english cb although wages could be problem but UCL football could sway him to us
JONNY WOODGATE -Good player although injury prone excellent defender would be good for dressing room aswell
RICARDO GARDNER - Skillful left back yet solid would be good cover 4 papac

Midfielders
PATRICK VIERA - one of the best centre mids of this generation , although old vastly expierienced and good UCL expierience high wages though would soar in the SPL
Alexei Eremenko - a star of last season's SPL very cultured player and upo for a move to glasgow
PEDRO MENDES - If u are a rangers fan u know all about how great he is and he still wants to be here said he left coz he had to
NIGEL REO - COEKER- Brilliant player should be playing for top 4 side would gel into our midfield well

Forwards-
Jay Boothroyd - good striker linked with them although i believe he would come to us instead
JOHN CAREW - excellent physical presence good at making poartnerships with any other striker good expierience , would be immence in SPL

SUBS
Jlloyd Samuel - Good left back solid and athletic good addition to push papac for place
Owwen hargreaves - I believe he would come and would be great at right back or sitting midfield especially in europe
James Mcfadden- Fair enoguh hes a smeltik fan but he would want to play for us more than them u can tell from his ambition and would be great on wing or up front in SPL
Eidur Gudjohnson - Brilliant technical player and expierienced strong leader type player good in SPL
Billy Mehmet -Showed be4 he was good in SPL i believe would be good sub for us

be4 i get abuse back im not saying these guys are coming im simply stating they woulkd be good and realistic whilst having a dig at mr whyte

plz put this on ed took me a while to do

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Every player you mentioned aPart from eremenko memhet and j Lloyd Samuel would comane 20,000 p/w plus so let's be honest, they are not realistic... {Ed001's Note - isn't Bothroyd asking for 65k a week?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Half the the wrong side of 30 n the other have are p*sh

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry mate but that's probably the worst list of bosmans you could have put together Stick to the day job.

Agree2 Disagree0

MATT UPSON - Brilliant player tbh I think hes only behind terry jagielka and ferdinand for best english cb although wages could be problem but UCL football could sway him to us

hahahahahah

dawson, king, lescott, cahill, smalling, jones, carragher, dann, johnson, shawcross, wes brown are all better than him

Agree3 Disagree0

Not one player on this list will or would join rangers. mcfaden would never sign for gers, only celtic have wage structure to get bothroyd out of old firm and the rest wouldnt want to join you either for varying reasons.

Quick question
How many players do we have on our books so far for the first team this season?
Just wondering if we will benifit from this new FFP (Financial Fair Play) scheme platini has got going?
Big teams are going to have to reduce there team to 25, (man city, man u, chelsea, spurs, etc) that means players are going to be released or loaned when the managers decide who their chosen 25 for the season are to be, that means alot of players looking for clubs before the transfer window shuts (Weiss, etc)

Now forgive me if i have picked the whole FFP scheme up wrong and it doesnt apply to everyone but surely it is a good idea and we can benifit from this.

A 25man limit should be set on every team and league, that way the good players have a chance of being scattered throughout other teams an leagues and the likes of man u, man city, real, barca etc don't have the pic of the bunch without having to lose a player to gain one?

what does everyone think wouold be the best league type in scotland i think it should be

SPL- 18 teams - 2 games v each team
SPL 2 - 12 team - 4 games v each team
Lower National league - 20- 2 games v each team
Conference north/south - 16 teams in each
regionalised leagues lower but all in a pyrimid so everyone has a chance to get to the top

think we should have an open scottish cup to any teams in the pyramid

league cup between SPL DIvisions and 2 lower national league teams in groups

a cup for conference leagues

regionalised leagues run themselves a

super cup at start of season

B teams able to enter in lower leagues

what are your thoughts?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

By increasing the amount of teams in the SPL you are dividing the TV cash between even more clubs than at present. If we are getting even less money from tv the standard of player we can attract will decrease even further than it already has {Ed001's Note - but, by increasing the competition, you make the league more attractive to sponsors, in particular TV channels.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It all sounds fine and well however sky will never allow it to happen mate

Sky basically back Scottish football for old firm games and that is were they make there money

They would never allow the spl to cut that down to 2 games per season

Good idea but won't haPpen

Pato {Ed001's Note - they would if somebody other than Rangers and Celtic actually stood a chance of lifting the trophy. That would create a massive upsurge of interest in the SPL and they know that.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So you are proposing we have 82 teams in our leagues you on crack?

We have 42 just now and clubs are struggling with wages and to find players

And your bright idea is too double the number of teams in the league

What a guy, we need you in parliament Super cup cup for the conference

I have an idea why don't we call the super cup somethIng like the community shield and I have a name for the conference cup I would like to run by you, how does the johnston paint trophy sound

Stop watching English football and trying to copy there ideas in our country, what they do works because they have more money and a bigger scale to do this.
It would destroy us by even attempting it

What next you will want the play offs back in the spl and you will want Relegstion payments introduced aswell

Agree0 Disagree1

Mate a thinbk u have it bang on agree with everything u just sayed espiecally the pyramid system

Perhaps Im being premature here but what I would like to see at Rangers in terms of transfers is unlike the rest of you is two players in my opinion who are good technically but as hard as nails and who shout and cajole their team mates over the 90 minutes and have the drive to keep the team alert- scott parker , joey Barton. Players with attitude like weir and strength especially defenders and in midfield thats what we need now...buy that mr whyte and you, ll go a lot further a lot quicker never mind who the manager is and get rid of the dead wood clean the club up on the park.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

These would be great signings. Unfortunately their is no chance of that standard of player coming to Rangers. You need to be far more realistic about the standard of player we can attract these days and I mean this regardless of the amount of money Whyte puts in.

Look at the lot of you...all you can see is win or lose and talk about managers and players from both Rangers and celtic there are other teams in scotlandjust in case you, ve all forgotten...who might just bite of both of the old firms heads this coming season...just ask walter smith Billy macneill etc etc what we have at the moment in the gold fish bowl is anything but gold ..more like dull lead in both ends of Glasgow...and its hard to live with for both lots of you and in european terms they are both pretty poor so instead of criticising each other and get on with supporting your own teams all I see is a lot of jealous wee laddies fighting over whose got the biggest bag of sweeties in the school playground. get a f***ing life .

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I want some of what u've been smoking dicko As much as it hurts to say this if Rangers don't win the league this season the only other team winning it are the manky mob from across the city... Never in a million years will another team be that Hearts, Gibson Dundee it's or the sheep shaggers

Agree0 Disagree0

Your mad if you think any tram apart from r angers or Celtic are going to win the league

Rangers and Celtic will both finish at least 20 points ahead of the rest of the drivel.

Although I agree rangers and celtic are both at there poorest, every other team in the league has moved back aswell

Scottish football is on it's arse let's face it

Pato

Agree2 Disagree0

Agreed scottish football is just going to kp going bkwards... its the sfa's fault there job is to build football and evlove with the times, it needs re-done from grass roots level and also for the medevil rules to b changed...

England done why cnt we? Take a long time but we have to... we need to get theese youngsters tied to scotlands game and the coaching must change.

Watching the brazil v Paraguay match. That estiggabria(spelling) was awesome. Why mccoist isn't signing this guy I don't know. He would run riot in the spl

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Xlnt player, not only would he run riot in the spl, he would run riot in the champions league too. Dunkie Bear

Because craig whyte wont give mccoist the money coz he is a di*k

Would like to c rangers make a move for zak whitbread, was linked with the gers a few seasons ago but went to norwich instead and doesn't gt a game. Reckon he would only cost about 500k or somethin, gd solid defender, well worth the money, loads of cb's out there on bosmans so super ally has plenty choice. Think adam le fondre will b at ibrox soon enough along with david goodwillie and carlos cuellar aswell as bartley on loan or permanent deal, would like to c diouf bk aswell as he's a gd squad player and draws players out of position to create space. Any1 else agree with these guys tht should arrive? Kris : )

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I would like to see them join but i dont think we will sign that many players coz whyte is being a di*k
