Graeme Murty will not be Rangers Manager next season, even if he achieves a high 2nd place finish and wins the Scottish Cup.

However, the board are looking to offer Graeme a different role after exceeding expectations with his lack of experience. This role would help with Murty's coaching development.

If Murty doesn't get the Rangers job then i see many other clubs showing an interest in him. He's done his CV no harm at all. I will repeat myself and say he should be given a chance with a decent budget. He knows and understands scottish football with a huge knowledge of the youth development team. He's determined and passionate and is fully committed.

Heres a thought, with King coming out with that statement, would it be possible that Murty has already been told the job is his? I know its season ticket renewal time and our supporters have mixed opinions regarding Murty. King wants season tix sold and doesn't want to jeopardise that

10 Apr 2018 15:04:53
With all due respect, who gives a sh*t about 'Murty's coaching development'? All I care about is the best man for each job, not one individual's 'growth'. Jesus wept - the way some fans think amazes me.

10 Apr 2018 15:13:09
He certainly understands Scottish football with the number of points we have dropped under him! Rubbish statement! A new man has to be in place for next season

10 Apr 2018 15:54:19
Rfcrb1i72, why do you not give a rubbish about youth development? that's where our future hopefully lies. Bringing on and producing home grown talent. i'm sorry, i don't understand your comment.

10 Apr 2018 15:59:35
ThestruthHurts, who would you have as our next manager then? FDB who would command a big wage and a big players budget, only to go down the same road as Pedro? Or do you have someone else in mind?

10 Apr 2018 16:45:34
Goalie, you should be ashamed of yourself comparing De Boer and Pedro? A man with an amazing player career and 4 Dutch titles, and then Pedro? A man who could certainly talk? 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

10 Apr 2018 17:05:05
Does anyone think Neil Harris of Millwall would be a good shout for manager? . He's took them from near relegation places to almost playoff chance. Don't think he has spent a lot of money either.

10 Apr 2018 17:10:25
Yately, why should i be ashamed of myself, De Boer an excellent player. Great success at Ajax with a huge budget. Sacked at Milan, sacked at Palace. Youve stated he was a great player does that make a great manager? i'm certainly not ashamed of myself and believe Murty with a decent budget will take our team where we belong.

10 Apr 2018 17:17:42
It's got to be Clarke!

10 Apr 2018 17:18:10
Goalie, we are all assuming these guys will command a huge fee, FDB I would be extremely happy with and would be my choice, I’d also be happy with Martinez although I can’t see that happening, and third choice would be warnock! Whoever it is will need money to spend but Murty for me is not the answer, a good coach but he isn't a manager and what we need at this time imo, others will say he is but during games he isn’t tactically aware or has the management experience needed for us, whoever it is will need to recruit right and hit the ground running or we will be back to square one.

10 Apr 2018 17:48:07
SyruthHurts, yes we need to hit the ground running. You obviously have faith in De Boer which i respect. Although he was a wonderful player for Rangers i really don't think he'll adapt to Scottish football as a manager. Murty in my eyes has a head start, yes he has a lot to learn and made a few mistakes but he was thrown into the deep end. He knows what's required of him and am confident he will deliver. Have faith guys.

10 Apr 2018 18:31:28
Goalie, fair enough that’s your opinion mate, but it worries me he can’t make a sub when it’s needed or has the awareness to change a game or see when tactics need changed, he would be sacked before Xmas in my eyes if he got the job, because the points were dropping now and the mistakes he’s made will not change over a summer and fans won’t accept, this again next year and that goes for any manager that comes in, hence why this appointment is prob the most important in our history if we want to compete

10 Apr 2018 19:14:03
StruthHurts, yeh his delay and choice of subs is up for question. For example, the old firm game when they went down to 10 men. He should of made advantage of that. We all know that now and i'm sure Murty will regret but will also learn from that. I get that De Boer sounds a great appointment in some eyes but not for scottish football. With a bit of support i think Murty will mmake the difference. Yes he's a rookie so was Lennon.

10 Apr 2018 19:35:11
Time to be serious guys, who would touch the job?
We still have no clarity in what's happening behind the scenes. No manager in they're right mind would touch the job. It has to said. We need to win the title next year! But who is good enough to make this happen? We can't afford to gamble!

10 Apr 2018 22:07:44
Got to throw all my support behind goalie on this one! Everyone on here knows my feelings that graeme murty at least deserves the chance as our permanent manager, next season! Along with our DOF mark allen, i honestly think they work well in tandem, especially as the only transfer window they've had together, has been good for me anyway!

Goalie is correct when he says murty will improve and kick on to become a good rangers manager, if given the chance! Another couple of transfer windows with murty and allen will improve us again! Like goalie i also mentioned many times on here, the similarities to lennon when he got the permanent celtic job, his 1st job also as a manager!

Every appointment is a gamble, imo let the gamble be with the man who currently occupies the rangers managerial chair, graeme murty, as he's there, knows the full workings and structure and the way our club is now going, ie. as regards to rearing our own through our youth academy! Murty will get better and better! I say, let it be with us!

11 Apr 2018 00:06:44
Murty has the job till the club say otherwise so I don't want to write him off, but after losing an old firm game we could have won we needed a positive reaction. I'm not buying into the inexperience line either, just look at Gaurdiola, Zidane etc. (youth coaches thrust into massive jobs) . However I do think we need a wily old character that scares the players into doing their job. So assuming Walter is happily enjoying retirement, Clarke would be my first choice, if he's not interested Warnock would throw the cat in amongst the pigeons. FDB, Gio and Bilic would surely need more time and money. Do we have either?

11 Apr 2018 00:20:57
Since people seem fine with Deboer why not through another Dutchman into the mix, Jaap Stam is a free agent after all!

11 Apr 2018 02:41:04
Wow, I'm amused at how my comment was misconstrued. It seems the former Pedro now Murty staunch are back in fashion. I said I didn't care about 'Murty's coaching development' - I'm not really sure how that means I don't care about the youth?! I've already said on here development results under him were poor - frankly my loyalty is to the club, not individuals, and I'm getting tired of supporters hanging their hats on atrocious managers, no matter how cr*p, and then smearing those who want someone better. We've become a bunch of football hipsters, bigging up mediocrity as if it's special and justifying utterly mediocre people at our club.

11 Apr 2018 09:35:09
Why does everyone keep comparing Murty to Lennon as a case for giving him the job? Does no one remember that Lennon had the easiest Celtic manager job ever because Rangers were put down to the lower tiers for the majority of his time in charge? Back Murty if you want but Lennon shouldn’t even be mentioned

11 Apr 2018 11:40:29
did mourinho not say recently that FDB was the worst manager to ever ply his trade in the english premiership.
what does that say about his abilities.

11 Apr 2018 12:01:59
The only problem with your argument there Coop mate is its based on a lot of opinion. "you think Murty will improve" or "another window or two will be better" where is the evidence though? the team is inconsistent, with some really poor performances and results. I don't buy they are not "his" players as the majority of managers have a large chunk of their squad not signed by them and the sign of a good manager is they still get results.

Has January turned out as good as you say? Murphy- good signing, Martin- wouldn't keep, Goss- not consistent, proven and fell away after a decent start, Cummings- not proven, has had limited time but doesn't fit the style of play so why even sign him to begin with?

The structure of any football club is the same, youth sides progressing through to the first team, fair enough Murty knows them more as individuals but if he is falling short in what we need as a first team manager then again does that evidence that he will make the right calls in who to call up and when?

We see loads of faults being pointed out in the guys being linked, but a manager who has shown he can be successful even if there are patches that are a bit questionable too is still considered less of a risk of someone who can show no proven track record at all. Certainly in my mind anyway.

11 Apr 2018 12:53:50
Don't understand the supporters wanting De Boer . yes great player, but hardly a Gers legend. 14 games or something like that. The last two jobs he's had were disastrous. can we afford another dud? No we can't? I think the same as some others above Stevie Clarke or keep Murty.

11 Apr 2018 14:22:39
Just watched murty in a interview on
Rtv the man looks shattered. I think the man knows his time is up.

11 Apr 2018 15:14:40
Don’t understand this desire for FDB to become manager. He’s hardly a rangers legend. He played 15 games about 14 years ago. He won the title in Ajax 4 times and then has bombed in everything since. Why would you want him as a manager?

11 Apr 2018 15:29:07
Because if we are to compare Rangers with any of his past clubs, Ajax are the closest by a mile. A sleeping giant in a weaker league. Italy is a much harder league and that Inter squad isn't what it was. Napoli and Juve rule the roost there now. As for Palace - he's just not a relegation manager - that club didn't suit him at all.

If he can manage us as he managed Ajax, we could well get somewhere.

11 Apr 2018 15:30:32
@Ralph10 - I'm no fan of him but I sympathise with him in that video - he looks absolutely broken.

11 Apr 2018 17:11:31
At the end of the day, it comes down to the fact we are Glasgow Rangers and we should be trying to land the absolute best possible manager we can for the budget we have. if I’m honest I just don’t think that’s Murty, I’m not saying FDB is the answer but we need to get this one right, so the board need to push the boat out and land a proven manager. We shouldn't settle for mediocrity.

11 Apr 2018 20:56:09
End of the day we don't have time, we need someone who is not going to lose nearly half your home games or the season would be ours that's the difference, a rangers man needed ASAP simple.

11 Apr 2018 22:48:35
28 who disagreed are absolutely clueless!
