What is everyone's thoughts on the Alistair Johnston statement?

Said we are ahead of schedule and if we keep backing the club as we have then we will hopefully see success. Also commented that a decision on Murty hasn't been finalised.

Shows how either out of touch or blatantly arrogant the board are for me.

Snell

1.) 20 Apr 2018 14:29:22
On field with the funds made available by the board we should have a better product on the park so I think we are behind in that department. Off the park I think we are making progress in terms of strips, sponsorship commercial deals etc although I still worried a wee bit about our board, more concerned about James traynor and s Robertsons roles

2.) 20 Apr 2018 14:30:12
I think he as made it at a strange time, almost to prepare fans for a 3rd place finish by saying its still progress!

The board have some serious decisions to make in the next few weeks, and it will be an interesting watch.

3.) 20 Apr 2018 15:55:19
He’s chosen his words correctly in the sense that he says we are ahead of where we were 5 years ago. Unfortunately that doesn’t wash with the poor manager / player recruitment over the last couple of seasons. The next managerial appointment is critical for the board to keep the fans onside and that we are finally heading in the right direction.

4.) 20 Apr 2018 15:56:49
Im sure leanne dempster isn't saying that hibs are ahead of the curve. They'll be saying that's exactly where they expect to be. Why would we settle for anything other than a proper title challange.

5.) 20 Apr 2018 16:45:37
UJ, I admit that I haven't read the full statement, but when you use a term like "ahead of the curve" you are implying that you are doing better at this point in time than you expected; not that you are doing better than you were five years ago.
If he thinks that we are doing better than they expected, they must have started out with pretty low expectations.

6.) 20 Apr 2018 17:08:23
Traynor left rangers year's ago

7.) 20 Apr 2018 17:21:41
Union Jack

Would have to disagree that he has been clever with his words as since the interview he has been openly ridiculed on every social media site and media outlets.

8.) 20 Apr 2018 17:30:44
Regarding my above post about traynor I was told he was still employed much to my horror . thankfully as Marco c says this was not the case

9.) 21 Apr 2018 11:13:25
Marco C Traynors company Level 5 media are still
doing Rangers PR and media and he is still found in Auchenhowie on occasion. I saw him last week whilst picking stuff up from Ross McC.

10.) 21 Apr 2018 11:15:15
Level 5 is owned by Walter Smith and Murdo McLeod also.

11.) 21 Apr 2018 11:20:13
bgate w Jim Traynor and level 5 media ARE still at Rangers. Traynor has NOT left he still has a role.

Ally McCoist being considered for the Sunderland job 😮 i heard league one has some brilliant away days.

Snell

1.) 14 Nov 2017 15:27:51
Anybody putting money on McCoist must literally zip up the back.

2.) 14 Nov 2017 17:52:46
Mccoist is a legend support your own

3.) 14 Nov 2017 19:07:11
legendary player. god awful football manager.

4.) 14 Nov 2017 23:43:47
Super ally rangers legend and always will be

5.) 15 Nov 2017 09:01:44
Mccoist was an amazing player and a very unlucky manager. Remember we were top of the league, had beaten the dhims and then meltdown happened and it was an impossible task for anyone to control and cheeky chappy I believe to an extent was used as a scape goat first by whyte then green and then blamed by the support. Shameful behaviour against a man who loves rangers like the rest of us.

6.) 15 Nov 2017 10:44:01
honestly to judge the man as amanager when he was at rangers is just rediculous.

he stayed when no one else would have with all the stuff going on in the backround.

he got us through 3 devisions and left when everyone was shouting for his head.

i would like to see what he could do at a club without all of this turmoil going on ion the backround.

i know sunderland are hardly that club but they are not as bad off as we where

7.) 15 Nov 2017 13:07:29
True pedz, I think all must have learned something from walter smith about management. I hope wee ally does wellwherever he end up.

8.) 15 Nov 2017 16:05:24
he got us through 3 divisipns that my dead granny could have ped mate 😂 my memory of him as manager is giving over inflated wages to the likes of kyle, sandaza, black and a legion of other donkeys. was a perfect time to invest in youth players that would have been much cheaper and had a sell on value. grew up idolising him as a player but as a manager i really don't rate him. as a sidenote anyone that touches that sunderland job needs there head looked at. they are one of the fastest sinking ships there is

9.) 16 Nov 2017 13:50:15
I'd be delighted if McCoist got the Sunderland job, there were rumours at one point he would be the next Rangers manager and I don't want to see him anywhere near that Ibrox dugout again.

10.) 17 Nov 2017 12:29:53
He got us through 2 divisions, League 2 and League 1.

26 Oct 2017 14:48:22
pedeo gone! source daily rag website.

Snell

1.) 26 Oct 2017 15:11:23
That means that Dave King and the rest of the board are now "haters" as peds11 would put it. So much for not having the money to sack him. Time to move on from that shambles and at least now we don't have to go into work in the morning on the back of one of pedro's ridiculous and embarrassing statements.

2.) 26 Oct 2017 16:28:12
‘arry, big sam or pardew for me

3.) 26 Oct 2017 17:17:44
Stuart pierce.

4.) 26 Oct 2017 17:49:36
well definitely no money now. bet any one coming in jan are all loans

07 Oct 2017 20:14:08
seen chat of us looking at lewis morgan of st mirren whos contract up next summer. anyone any knowledge of what he is like?

Snell

1.) 07 Oct 2017 21:13:05
He's certainly been looked at because he was in our youth system a few years ago. It's also reported that Tosh McKinlay has recommended him to the mhankies, but that's not much to go on. The laddie's probably had a decent game or two and his agent is now actively trying to punt him to somebody.

He played for Scotland against England at under 21 level the other night and I never heard anyone raving about him. He's just turned 21 and should be at the stage where he is very close to being a first team player and I don't think he would be. We've probably got better on our books (Atakayi? ) .

2.) 08 Oct 2017 09:00:44
Yes have heard lots of good reviews about this kid on ssc and other st mirren fans is it another kenny mcclean and so many others scenario

3.) 08 Oct 2017 10:26:08
I'd definitely take him. For all the moans about us never producing young players he is another example that it isn't the producing them that is the problem it is identifying which ones we keep. The other night watching the auld enemy u21's I went into it looking to see Burke as the main attacking option but in my opinion it was morgan his hunger definitely outstripped that of Burke and if we can get him back it would be a good bit of business. For all those Pedro haters the fact he tries out young players gives us more of a chance in identifying and keeping our best from the academy

With all the manager rumours floating about what's the opinion that Murty knows he isn't getting the gig full time and standards have slipped? Might be putting two and two together to get five but the last few games have been inexcusable.

Snell

1.) 31 Mar 2018 15:46:27
I doubt Murts will be listening to rumours because let's face 99% of them are bs. Unfair to accuse him of total unprofessionalism imo.

2.) 31 Mar 2018 16:10:47
wasnt an accusation mate, more a discussion point to see what fellow bears thought. because something definitely ain't right, whether that be Murty being unsettled by these rumours, or the players just deciding once the league was gone after Celtic that they just don't fancy it as much now. Could be any number of things and was only asking opinions. what's your take on why things have gone so off the boil in the last few games?

22 Dec 2017 12:15:20
Murty confirmed to end of season.

Snell

1.) 22 Dec 2017 12:28:01
Shocking inept board man

2.) 22 Dec 2017 12:41:58
who would you have put in charge southside? i think murty was the best choice, otherwise we would have some helmet nobody like mcleish or davies

3.) 22 Dec 2017 12:51:04
Pulis or de boer

Just goes to show they have no money to do anything another failed season finishing 3rd again this is not acceptable at a club of our stature honestly king needs to sell to someone ASAP

4.) 24 Dec 2017 14:28:47
Get real southside.

16 Dec 2017 20:08:19
My concerns looking to the rest of the season- Murty has been asked to perform in a role beyond his current skill and the board say its until new year. Even if we get a new man in bang on 1st January how is he going to be in the space to choose signings? Can see us bringing no one in and us stumbling between disasters for the rest of the year. We all had a good laugh beating Lennon and Hibs, in all honestly the performance was as poor as it has been all season. wouldn't be surprised if the board were dragging out the manager appointment for exactly that reason and to use as an excuse for poor january recruitment that we desperately need.

Snell

1.) 18 Dec 2017 18:49:19
Thought we were a great team Snell? Cardoso great player? Morelos super striker? Candias wonder winger?

My mistake was to single a few players out but none of them are good enough.

I pay EPL prices for my season ticket and get served up a lot of rubbish. £100 for 2 tickets for the mhankies. You are right Snell I must be on something.

24 Nov 2017 22:54:19
shambles of a team. pathetic group of players, i don't even blame murty, he is an u20 coach thrown to the wolves because the board are too inept to get their finger out. praying at the agm that they are given hell and taken to account. they should be chased out the building. unfortunately don't hold out much hope, expect questions about safe standing and if the pies are going to get better. top to bottom our club is full of charlatans not fit to be associated with our great name.

Snell

1.) 24 Nov 2017 23:40:29
I said I did not trust DK and so far he has done exactly what I expected. spend other people's money never his own. The club cannot and will not attract a decent manager as long as the current lot keep DK in place. For goodness sake, the man was called a liar in a court of law and yet was still accepted by the Scottish authorities as a fit and proper person and by a lot of supporters. I for one, am not surprised the way things are going. Murty is way out of his depth and the board should be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully, the supporters recognise this and will not allow the man to be made a scapegoat by the charlatans.

2.) 25 Nov 2017 06:06:35
Snell, have you ever been to an AGM? If you have you will know that the minute you ask an awkward difficult question our own supporters shut you down booing and telling you to sit down so most are wary of sticking their heads above the parapet. By the way the last pie I bought at Ibrox was luke warm AND I had several bubbles in my coke so it is working!

18 Nov 2017 17:09:40
absolutely pathetic. can bang on all we want about what manager we want but a good few of those players are a disgrace.

Snell

1.) 18 Nov 2017 17:21:40
Exactly, complete overhaul required

2.) 18 Nov 2017 17:25:16
Holt Hodson Miller and Windlass not a bit of ability between them. Horrible days at ibrox are becoming increasingly more frequent these days.

3.) 18 Nov 2017 18:32:38
Holt was only player close to pass marks today! The rest were shocking and Morales needs a goal ASAP as his confidence is shattered, he also needs a partner up top, millet was nowhere near him all game. Shocking performance and were second to every ball. Need a manager in who can improve this lot and get them fit!

The only problem with your argument there Coop mate is its based on a lot of opinion. "you think Murty will improve" or "another window or two will be better" where is the evidence though? the team is inconsistent, with some really poor performances and results. I don't buy they are not "his" players as the majority of managers have a large chunk of their squad not signed by them and the sign of a good manager is they still get results.

Has January turned out as good as you say? Murphy- good signing, Martin- wouldn't keep, Goss- not consistent, proven and fell away after a decent start, Cummings- not proven, has had limited time but doesn't fit the style of play so why even sign him to begin with?

The structure of any football club is the same, youth sides progressing through to the first team, fair enough Murty knows them more as individuals but if he is falling short in what we need as a first team manager then again does that evidence that he will make the right calls in who to call up and when?

We see loads of faults being pointed out in the guys being linked, but a manager who has shown he can be successful even if there are patches that are a bit questionable too is still considered less of a risk of someone who can show no proven track record at all. Certainly in my mind anyway.

There is a worry that King words the statement suggesting a new man to help with the season tickets and then cops out after and takes the cheap option with Murty. Still think he will go for a new name as the uproar amongst fans would be epic proportions.

Of the Gers I have seen play live, Gio always held a spot in my heart. The guy oozed class on and off the pitch, could play anywhere and was a stand out. Was so proud to see what he went onto achieve when he left us.
