I think MW will be silly to throw out a different team from the one that was out against Linfield, i thought the point of the friendly was to get match fitness and sharpness for the old firm game, i hope he keeps pretty much the same squad against that mob, i'm hoping he doesn't play Barton, Rossiter and Halliday in middle, n i hope big No Senderos gets in the starting line up.

If we have those 3 in midfield then we're done for. I hope MW is brave and plays Barton sitting and Windass and Forester to pick holes in them. Playing with 3 defensive minded midfield players is the reason why we are so slow going fwd and miss the guile to pick open the opposition defence.

While I reckon that Rossiter is our best young midfield player I would have to go with Barton for this game but while I reckon that Warburton will go with Halliday I would rather have Holt there and Kranjcar would be my other of the three, at least to start.

teams now expect us to play the passing game and keep possession. i think we should surprise celtic and be more direct with speed, involving ohalloran, windass and mckay to be more positive. remember the lad scored a screamer against celtic. i think with more direct play we can win this.

After watching yesterday's game (albeit against average opposition) I think MOH must start. He looked involved in everything good. I also hope there's a place for Windass even if from the bench.
I'm a lot more confident than I was that's for sure.

Let's see how Celtic cope under Rodgers if we do win next week, he was talking them up as favourites today. He will never have seen anything like it if we beat them on their own patch, there'd be an outcry.

Recbob, Totally agree with both of your posts, the players you mention [ O'Halloran and Windass. ] offer a different dimension to our attacking options.
As far as Rodgers is concerned, nothing will have prepared him for defeat in this game.
We have a big task on Saturday, but like yourself, I have a wee notion that we will triumph 2-1, with MOH scoring the winner.

I hope your prediction is right Billy. If Rodgers thought the reaction to the imps disaster was bad he ain't seen nothing yet. To come out and say they were justifiably favourites could come back to bite him, the media will not let him forget that. I think Celtic's over confidence will be the undoing of them, same as last year. I personally would start with both Windass and MOH and get at them from the start with pace. Can always bring players on later to shore it up if we are ahead.
I much prefer MW's quiet and modest approach to these games, let the team do the talking! Two weeks ago after the Kilmarnock game I was worried but seeing Senderos, Windass and MOH performing well against Linfield has filled me with a quiet confidence. This will be the game that really starts out season.
