Where are the young Scottish players? Only one Scot started yesterday's game with a couple on the bench. Surely it's time to give young home-grown players a chance instead of these has-beens and rejects from here, there and everywhere. We need players who will passionately play for the jersey. If lose to teams like Motherwell and Ross County, with all respect to them, then we've no chance of winning the league. Having said all that, something has gone wrong in recent games as we did have a great run to close the gap on Celtic. Yet another summer rebuild required. Very disappointed this morning.

Our Scouting of young players like our Scouting in general has been abysmal for years. Historically we just went out and bought the best young Scottish talent available but that has gone by the wayside and in terms of the more recent past McCoist must take his share of the blame for when he was manager.
The Club doesn't function as it should. We are failing to bring in quality young players, (not just from Scotland), and we are failing to attract the quality players that a club with a support of our size should do.
If things don't change at Board level we will continue to be second best or worse.

we used to buy scottish players simply to weaken the other team. how many did we buy over the years who actually became first pick players. they were squad fillers and that's not what we need, we need starters.

I disagree gees and I am talking about players brought through our own academy who are then allowed to leave for other clubs. Gilmour and Lowry are two recent examples. McCausland gets a brief run in the team, and shows promise, and then is dumped on the bench at best. Had he played yesterday he at least would have given his all.

geesa, i'm not sure where you been or what age you are but the rangers I've followed a lifetime have always signed the best of scottish talent and we have had vast numbers play for the club and indeed many have become legends at rangers, i'm not sure how you believe otherwise, stein, ferguson boyd are the first of too many to mention,

Doiger remember Gilmour did not want to stay, same as lad Wilson who scored another 2 for villa in a semi finals on Saturday

Allegedly villa have a five year big deal on table, with several teams in England and Europe watching

U can’t blame these lads.

Lowry is in last chance saloon imo.

Berkshire blue said the same many times myself on here and asked the question regarding our recruitment something needs to change quickly

Proven over the last 6-7 years more fails than successful and that needs to change we don’t have a bottomless pit of money.

McCausland is injured the now to be fair.
Rice, King, Yfeko, Lowry, Devine, Lovelace, McKinnon all showed promise but we are stuck playing Dessers, Borna, Wright, Goldson etc

I suppose the issue is that if PC plays the young guys and gets beat then the fans will be on his back. Especially since we are so close to winning the title. Maybe not worth the risk just now.

Players like Barron and Watson and Miller should be bought though.

Strange how Celtic can be successful with a mix of overseas players and the odd home grown player whereas we seem to be incapable on both counts. Perhaps things will change now that we have a new Chairman, CEO, DoF and Scouting network and the previous lot have all gone.
Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, we need to significantly increase the quality of player signed and we need to stop signing serial losers.
What has gone wrong, well perhaps we have just been lucky because the writing has been on the wall defensively all season and no one is really surprised that our main striker misses more than he scores!
