Great to see the boy Bates drafted into the full Scotland squad. The boy has a big future and understand SG would have liked to to have been offered a proper contract and resigned at Ibrox.

I did say at the time the lad was one for the future, all he wanted was £7k a week. We offered £2.5k a week, while paying Pena and his pals over £15k.

Rangers never offered bates a new contract that's why he left.

If I can remember Bates himself said in the papers he knocked back our deal. This was before SG came in and I bet SG would have loved to have worked with the lad. If as you say ger forever, we never offered him a contract then that's criminal on our part.

Bates knocked back our offer as he wanted 7k, not worth that.

Jboy21, based on his rate of progress and potential £7k a week would have been great piece of business. Afraid this this is one that Mark Allen got badly wrong.
