If the joey Barton deal falls through rangers will offer arteta a years contract with a coaching role at the end of it.

Agree2 Disagree16

He left because of the weather! He's better off coaching in Spain and would offer little value as player or coach imo.

16 May 2016 11:34:18
So your telling me a player who got a goal yesterday can't add value to the squad arteta is a good mid fielder and Arsen wenger has always rated him at arsenal so if we didn't get Barton and could get deal for arteta that would be just as good.

16 May 2016 11:54:42
He scored a goal! Well my mistake then, sign him up! He would have nowhere near the impact Barton would have on our team so calm yourself down. He is slow, can't tackle, can't stay fit and doesn't like the cold. thanks but no thanks!

16 May 2016 11:58:54
arteta is a good player great player couple of seasons ago and i'd welcome him back but this will never happen the guy demands way too much wages for us to sign him back he would get more as a youth coach for man city than he would playing for us lol.

16 May 2016 12:48:45
How do you know all that and do you play for arsenal I don't think so arteta was arsenals captain he was evertons captain I will agree I'd prefer joey Barton but if the option of is there for him to come well we should take it. And I think he would do a better job helping the young players coming through than Barton but that is just opinion I would be happy with either.

He retired from playing this morning.

16 May 2016 13:04:48
He has announced his retirement and will more than likely be a coach a man city with pep so that puts this 1 to bed.

16 May 2016 13:52:55
That's a shame he has retired he was good player.

16 May 2016 13:30:33
I can't believe i'm reading that people would take Joey Barton over Mikel Arteta. Just my opinion of course but it would be arteta all day long for me. Anyone else? Barton or Arteta?

16 May 2016 16:56:23
Arteta's best days are long behind him and I guess he knows this if he did retire this morning. Have seen him warm up a few times this season and his is undoubtedly a fantastically professional routine but he never got anywhere near the ball. If we were lucky enough to secure Barton's services he would be here for the fight and would definitely get stuck in because that's what he does. Arteta would be a luxury item. As players, in their day, Arteta would probably edge it, he certainly has displayed more class but in the here and now Joey Barton every day of the week. Here's hoping.

16 May 2016 21:09:59
Well I mean you have to seriously think as Barton was burnleys best players and was in team of the year for the championship but you can't deny arteta who is class.

16 May 2016 21:42:25
Arteta is class, but just different from the class we need just now. We lack bite and physicality in the middle of the park and that's what Barton brings. The whole team has a lightweight look to it and it has to be addresed for next season.
