A different subject here guys for a change! We all got talking at work on Thursday there, about rangers legends from the past, as the rangers legends game is coming up again, towards the end of march! We got talking a lot in general about how good our former captain Barry Ferguson was!

Most of us, including myself thought Baz was a superb captain and midfielder and a minority thought he was a tad overrated! what's the general consensus amongst all other bears regarding Barry Ferguson?

ED, could you please do a poll ie. Was Barry Ferguson a terrific midfielder or was he overrated? Cheers ed, would be much appreciated mate!

Supercoop, I personally don't understand how anybody can say Ferguson wasn't a great captain for us. He is exactly the type of player we are missing at the moment.

His technical quality as a player for us were never in question. His leadership qualities, judgement and character is a different matter.

His leadership qualities, judgement and character were outstanding that's why he was a great captain. He is exactly what we need now. One issue with scotland and everyone judges him on that. It was one mistake. Get over it. He was also a quality player aswell.

Coldo, let me phrase it another way. He let his undoubted passion for the club interfere with his role and responsibilities as captain. Would never question his technical ability or his commitment to the club.

Ferguson never had leadership qualities 🤣😂🤣 that might be the silliest thing I've read on here. Sorry bud 🇬🇧🏆🇬🇧

I'm not sure he did bankie? He told PLG exactly what was expected and he was 100% spot on to do so. Am not sure what you are getting mate?

My understanding is that is why Sir Walter showed him the door, and quire rightly so.

24 Feb 2018 13:38:42
The scotland incident was the reason walter showed him the door. It was a one off daft mistake. You can't question the guys attitude, leadership qualities on one mistake. Fair enough if he was causing trouble throughout his career, but he wasn't. Go on youtube bankie and watch his interview with si ferry. Great watch👍

Coldo, I’m old enough to remember John Greig, now there was a captain and a leader in the Rangers tradition. In more recent times Terry Butcher was an great captain, always leading by example. IMO Barry Ferguson, great player that he was, comes no where near level level as a great captain. Agree we could do with his quality and passion in the team today.

Barry Ferguson was an outstanding talent and one of our best ever midfielders. Wish he was playing today, even at his age!
