question for all including ed's

On the Rangers official page we frequently see " club statement" followed by announcements to do with Directors, sackings, finances. etc

Why then has there been no "club statement" totally condemning the bigots who are jeopardising the future of this club??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - I dont think you will hear anything from this board prior to the EGM unless it is to discredit the requisitioners, no matter how controversial the subject may be)

Cant help but agree with you Ed but it still needs saying no matter what the fighting tactics are and I hope its the first duty performed by King and his compatriots when they take office

Agree0 Disagree0

Wee bill

The statements this board put out are only EVER to try and talk themselves up prior to EGM note the DAY the Newcastle players were coming up there was big glossy smiling photos issued in our beloved hall with their new Rangers 32 Red tops on.

Fortunately bill it is now a matter of counting days down rather than months and weeks, 10 days more to sit biting our nails praying everything stays as it is and there are no moves by Green or Ashwipe to buy any 'neutral' shares.

Honestly being that King and consortium (3Bears ARE part of the move trust me) have over 44% GUARANTEED in the shareholder voting analysis they ONLY need 6%+ to achieve what we all want an EGM victory which for me personally means actually saving Rangers from potential going out of existence permanently after losing all our assets to Green/Ashwipe consortium (they ARE a team).

Agree0 Disagree0

Have the three Bears or Dave King condemned the singing last week?

Agree0 Disagree0

Reisser

Dave King or the Three Bears, as yet, have no part in the goings on at Ibrox and as such do not have any right to comment officially.
Once the take over ( oh yes they will) then they will have their say.

Board in talks with young Murdoch .

The board have no right to engage in talks. They will be taking a long walk in the next 10 days.

Imho I don't believe current board will appear at the egm if they know beforehand the likely result may be against them
There is no way that lot will put themselves in front of a packed ibrox to then be demoted and verbally slaughtered on their way out . I think if they sniff the result is not for them they will leave it right up to the last second before abstaining. Or is that just wishfully thinking
Board out now I say

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At this point in time it doesn't matter if he appoints any one to the board under that loan agreement or not.

He can win if the second part of the loan is drawn down so he can get Ibrox etc as security.

Failing that what hooks has he got into the parent company whom according to some figures if he called in his loans you would owe 29m to.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please no abuse . They are banking on it. Suppress the anger and just think of a positive outcome. Be strong bears.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who owns the parent company, growls?

Gkk I don't know things like that get 'convoluted' real quickly deliberately to ensure that you can not find out.

What has never been clear is What Mike Ashleys long term goal was.

Is he operating in asset stripping mode ie. bleed the fatted cafe until it is more profitable to dismember it completely or was he aiming to strip all major financial assets out and rent seek by then allowing the shell of the football club to carry on - getting a fee each year for the ground.

Im not an expert in these matters but either way he would want a security or ownership of Ibrox etc. Unless it has become personal because these people all have big egos that is what I think he would be maneuvering for regardless.

If he can still achieve that I don't think he would care if he lost control of the board. The club in th e money sense would belong to him and that is all that matters to him. I doubt he has any real interest in the football.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Feb 2015 15:27:11
Apologies if this has been covered before, I had a search and couldn't find it.

As Mike Ashley has not used his two board appointments he is allowed under the terms of his loans. If King and co are successful in removing the current board. Would Mike Ashley not be able to appoint two directors of his choice straight after?
There isn't a lot of public information on his dealings so I'm unaware whether if his loans are quickly repayed he may lose that ability.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - The terms of the loan are valid until it is repaid so regardless who is in charge, so long as the money is outstanding then the terms will be valid)

Very likely scenario that Llambias and Leach are voted off the board at the EGM and very quickly re-appointed under the terms of Ashleys loans

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats why he never used the loan to put another two on which makes me hopeful that he is preparing for defeat in the the battle

Agree0 Disagree0

If this does happen and llambias & leach do get re appointed after their most likely defeat at our forthcoming egm it will only be shortlived as once king & co go about paying ashley back his loan then llambias & leach would be dumped out yet again in the short term if they are put back on in the short term under ashley's loan agreement they will be outvoted in any decisions that are to be made ie.like the new manager etc as they'll be in the minority so as long as the current board are beaten at the egm it won't mean nothing because they will have no say and won't be there long, what's your take on this ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

J r repaying ashley may not be high on kings list of priorities he has already said lambias and leach can stay in there jobs meantime after all there will be other ways for monies to be spent

Not rangers related but what do people make of the matic / Barnes incident at the weekend.

Imo Barnes should have been sent off well before he even had the chance to make the tackle. I though matics leg was a goner as soon as I seen it and I think his reaction was totally justifies he didn't excactly hurt Barnes just pushed him whereas Barnes had nearly broke his leg and several times jumped up for headers and decided to put his studs in the back of people's legs lol.

If that's in Scottish football the media woukdve been treating it as attempted murder!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

CeeXXX

An unfortunate accident that sums up the sport of rugby. The problem is that when these big guys get revved up someone is going to get hurt - they are truly huge guys. I am 5' 10'' and would like a dwarf if stood beside most of them.

If one of them tackled a footballer then that footballer would know that he had been in a tackle, and would not be able to writhe about in agony as some of them do.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Scott Brown or Iain black or Jim Goodwin have a performance like the boy Barnes they get a 7 match ban though. it's not a nice feeling studs in the back of the leg lol and if I had received the tackle matic did I certainly wouldn't have just pushed him over! He gets sent off for a push yet Barnes didn't even receive a booking for multiple dangerous tackles

Agree0 Disagree0

Barnes should've been off the pitch. His display at the weekend was shocking, as was the refs. Still, you cannae react like Matic did.

Talking of reacting, did anyone see the shocking tackle and subsequent nutty reaction in the Stockport v Worcester game on Sat? Check out this video. Boy went full Chicken Oriental!

{Ed039's Note - It is funny as hell, I was talking to Ed003 about this on Saturday night)

23 Feb 2015 21:03:41
I had a bit of a chuckle too Ed. The tackle was a shocker and the boy only got a yellow for it too?!
Not surprised the other boy lost his sh#t but a skelp in the chops would've been more expected than a slam dunk. There's a version on YouTube with WWE commentary.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - i am a wrestling fan so i will look that up)

24 Feb 2015 06:17:39
he played the ball 1st this was not a tackle it was a follow tru so to speak

Agree0 Disagree0

Rugby was plyaed at my kids school and the unwritten rules they learn from day one is hard but fair, no acting up injured ever and if a player does overstep the mark unless it is serious assault in street terms they deal with it in the changing rooms or after the game 99% of the time with a pint and a handshake.

Footballers are regarded as nancy boys by most rugby players and the acting is a subjust of laughter and scorn by them especially as they regard it as stealing playing time from the game and the fans.

So to be honest the lad's tackle will be dealt with amonst themselves as men rather than the authorities, the refs are well aware of this and let go far more than you would think, the things that go on in scrums and rucks would make footballers burst out crying.

One thing you should also really notice is the respect the rugby players give the refs and assistants, non of that idiocy you see footballers doing in refs faces and thinking the ref might change his decision if you complain enough lolol.

Like yourselves I'm sure, I am utterly dismayed with the actions of some of our fanbase - through the singing of banned sectarian songs that only drag our club and support through the gutter. When will this ever stop? How many generations will it take for this to die out? What further action can be taken by one club in tackling this? i'm at a loss.

We live in times where political correctness has ran-a-mock and I'll be honest, I was one of the very reluctant ones to jump on board with any of this. It seems that everyone is out to be offended these days.but they are the times that we live in and we all must take heed of that. No longer is the media local, its now international and around the globe within seconds.

The problem seems to be when it comes to living in Glasgow, Sectarianism and Tribalism are viewed as one and the same thing. let's be honest here.if Rangers were to come out in the media tomorrow stating that they were about to sign Ronaldo, I doubt too many people would be up in arms with the fact that he is a Catholic. So, where does the difference apply when idolising a starring player of a certain denomination and demonising an opposing fanbase because of the same denomination. We as a club are not alone in this thinking, but it is portrayed as if we are the only club that demonstrates this behaviour.

We have had many Catholic players on our books (heros of all of ours), we also have many catholics that support Rangers. The defining facts about the club in the past should be evolutionary and should not stand in the way of the club developing into the future. We should be inclusive and not closed off to anyone in society.if we do not heed this then we run the risk of becoming a fundamentalist club.

I am myself from a mixed family, my father is Scottish and my mother is from the Rep. of Ireland. Neither are into football at all. I decided to support Rangers when I was young due to the fact that I liked the colour blue. Rangers were THE team around the time I hit 10/11. I was brought up protestant (however don't believe in anything or attend church these days). I basically see religion as a blight, something that was required in less civilised times to control the masses. but does it really apply these days? How many fans can proclaim to be church goers? In going to church does it afford you a judgement licence over others?

I dislike Celtic.I'll be honest. Its not because of the majority of their fans being catholic, its not because the lean toward Rep. of Ireland as their country of origin. Its because they are the other side of the same coin we are, our direct competitor/rival, because of the "were so hard done to ethic" (see referee strike / the establishment etc.) This is simply it. Tribalism.

I have a mixed group of friends from both sides of the perceived divide. It is enough for me to see these friends faces displaying a certain look of destain when they are on the wrong end of an old firm result. Its all about the bragging rights, the team, our players, our heritage.but also the future. We can only change it for ourselves. Unfortunately we will always have a moronic element, hopefully time and education can help eradicate this. If were honest.we've all been there and we've all sang the songs at one time or another, but us of rational mind have learned that its not acceptable to operate in this way. It does what we profess to love no good at all.THE CLUB.

Is it not time to start identifying the difference between tribalism and sectarianism.

sectarian

adjective denoting or concerning a sect or sects: ethnic and sectarian differences.• (of an action) carried out on the grounds of membership of a sect, denomination, or other group: a sectarian attack.• rigidly following the doctrines of a sect or other group.

tribalism

noun the state or fact of being organized in a tribe or tribes.• chiefly derogatory the behavior and attitudes that stem from strong loyalty to one's own tribe or social group: a society motivated by cultural tribalism.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

More justification. How hard is it to just stop singing vicious hateful songs? Just stop, no excuses, no learned lengthy justifications or hair-splitting about the meaning of sectarianism.

Why does an expression of Rangersness have to be about doing someone else down, expressing hatred about some other group of people completely unrelated to us and our own struggles and glories?

I see steven pressley has been sacked as coventry city manager this morning, he'll be the next one to be linked to the rangers managers' job!

RE my comments below : I agree 100% these songs should not be sung at football matches, but only in the u.k is it deemed political and ok to sing songs glorifying people who fought against the British and the British establishment yet its offensive & sectarian to sing songs that condem the same people .
r.f

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - don't talk crap, you are ignorant as hell if you stupidly think that is true. Have you ever been to Spain and listened to the songs the Basques sing? Or the Catalans? In fact you could find the same in just about every country in the world. Typical pig ignorant excuse trying to excuse the foulness of the songs you have sung in the past.}

23 Feb 2015 12:26:45
the day I stop singing the songs is the day celtic no longer get away with mocking the fallen/Britain/rangers etc.

the songs shouldn't be acceptable in society, but there is an unfair bias situation going on. it needs fixed on both sides.

Ibrox is a football stadium, Rangers are a football team, there is no place in football or society for these songs they have nothing to do with Glasgow Rangers, We have enough great songs that can be sung at matches glorifying Rangers, not bigotry or sectarianism, them days should be left in the past, Rangers fc have been under the spotlight more than any other club in European football these last few years, and we will be all over the media in the next coming weeks, we really really don't need anymore negative publicity, It makes me proud to be Ranger when People in Holland are amazed for what we did for one of their own(fernando) or Chinese newspapers reporting on record crowds( div3), we can be respected around the world for stories like that, and then some numpties just ruin it by singing songs about battles in the past that they probably don't even understand, There's a clip on you tube Amazing penny arcade, sung against Celtic a few years ago every time I watch it I get Goosebumps, that's the atmosphere I and many thousands of others want at Ibrox.

at 1. Who cares what celtic fans sing, what reason does that give brain dead people and am going to have to say this, brain dead people like you, to sing sick pointless songs aimed at something that has zero connection with rangers fc.

We all talk big talk on sites, but we have all stood next to someone at the games who has shouted something disgusting about a race or religion, but do we tell the stewards? do we tell the police? Its time for us to stand up for our club when we see this. We have our part to play in the rebuilding of this great club and I think this is one of them. let's not scare ourselves by our own hand. Point them out and get them banned, if DK gets in charge then fans groups should pressure him into action against the idiots.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop all conflict ban all fans from the stadiums lol! There's no atmosphere at ibrox anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed totally agree with what you are saying -

There is no place in society for chanting sectarian / bigotted / racist / or anti - religious slogans.

Would you do it at work?
Would you do it in a bank?
Would you do it in a shop?

Singing songs of hatred in the guise of football chants harms your club - it should stop now.
Those who point the finger at Celtic and others for doing the same are totally wrong. It should not matter who else is doing it, but it should not be done by you or yours. At Rangers everyone gets involved when the songs are sung, everyone - this should stop - NOW!
Once we have stopped our silly singing then we can point the finger of blame onto others because we have stopped doing it.
What I think Rangers as a club should be doing is to change the words of the songs so that they can still be song but without the hatefilled words.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - well said.}

It certainly wouldn't be ok but again it proves all over europe certain elements sing these sort of songs and Rangers appear to be the only club that's highlighted in the media and punished for it. 23 Feb 2015 17:00:27
Once again I totally abhor these sort of songs being sung in stadiums, but everyone is missing the point sure its alright to say let them sing what they want as long as we don't spew this sort of bile yet they still don't get pulled up all I'm asking is for a fair sense of justice you can hear there songs every week. on t.v live or highlights and it seems to be us that when an element of our support do it its highlighted why?, when does it become sectarian and not political? I remember on forums like this a few year back we used to ask someone from Ibrox to stand up for our fans over these sectarian rows and now we just say ah let them do it as long as we don't .

Let me explain something rf this whole thing about people on their side, no one on ours side s###e urks me. The thing is
When we mature we see there is no such thing as sides just EXCUSES.

Why can't we set the example.

The bottom line is we are in a bad situation, and these t##t fans are making it worse. How can we ask for change and are not willing to do the same.

Rf singing these songs IS sectarian.while I agree these songs were the norm it is now time to stop.have you ever wondered why we are never welcome in Spain and Italy.these country's are Catholic countrys and we were portrayed as a catholic hating club.do you not feel embarrassed when we have had umpteen Roman cathoilics proud to pull on the blue jersey and here their own fans sing those songs.while I agree that dignity fc seem to get away with it in this country that should not deter us from ridding ourselves of our horrible baggage.i am dreading Friday as I fear the brigade will be out in force and I urge the police to take a firmer stance.

Like every other rangers fan I long for the day we can all get back to talking solely about our football team rather than all the politics of boardroom fighting for power, however I think its worth a mention to praise the performances of late of our defensive midfielder kyle hutton who is getting better & better each passing week by getting a good run of first team games and of course keeping ian black on the bench, keep up the good work hutts, I'm sure I echo most rangers fans on this

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally I've never knocked Hutton because I've always known deep down the lad has potential, I do believe under a decent manager he can become a mainstay Rangers player for years to come, I know he has suffered with injuries etc, and been part of a bad Rangers team, but I think as each week that goes by he will flourish, I like the way he can handle himself on the pitch, we as Rangers fans should be encouraging the likes of hutton because the lad definitely has something.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with both posts.

What has happened (playing wise) in the past should be reminder of what should be happening in our future. The youths we have now and signed previously (and let go) should have been good enough to play for the first team. If they were not any good they would not have been signed in the first place.
The new manager, or perhaps the new caretaker manager will have a job now to instill a positive winning belief, not only for the youth but those senior players who have faltered and failed under the enormous pressures put on them by the previous encumbents, the Board's stupidities and in my opinion the media, in all it's various guises.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree, always felt that he didn't work hard enough.Could probably say that about whole team, as we were never a pressing team.Good to see that he is on up, probably got a buzz from Vukic as well.

Morning Bears. Only 12 days until DB-Day - Dump the Board Day! Some thoughts on Rangers playing staff. After all the furore and hullabaloo about the five Newcastle loan signings, only one played on Friday night. Surely four out of the five can't be injured already? Does anybody know? Also, what has happened to Callum Gallagher and Robbie Crawford? Get them in the team now along with Barry MacKay. Hutton is now showing the form that originally got him into the first team so he should be given an extended run. I'd also play Dean Shiels regularly now. Thoughts on the Championship, we'll finish second. We need to forget about Hearts though I'd only say that the last two or three games they've played they've squeezed over the line with late goals and not looking as good as they did earlier in the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

DOIGER don't you read the press? the 4 missing loanees ARE out injured, and it has been mentioned openly in all papers and web sites, including RFC pages and on here too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wee bill. Have you never heard of a rhetorical question?

Agree0 Disagree0

DOIGER - it was a pointless question as I am sure you were aware that 3 of the 5 were, and still are injured before coming up to Glasgow, Streete came off injured in his first game, so quite honestly I fail to see the point of your argument, however, no doubt you will continue to educate and enlighten me with another reply.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wee bill. Pointless questions are of the type asked by these twits Armstrong & Osman on BBC. My point was what is the status of these 'injured' loan players now and why can't we play the others I mentioned, recalling MacKay from loan? I don't visit the Rangers website and won't do until this corrupt regime have gone. By the way, Pointless is on shortly.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a matter of interest DOIGER who would you drop to accomodate Gallacher, Crawford and McKay considering none were or are setting the heather aliight with their loan clubs? I agree there must be room for youngsters, but not too many in one go
and when fit, the other 4 from Newcastle will complicate the choice further?
Oh yes and one other thing, I watch flog it instead of pointless, seems more in keeping with our status at present flog it=dead horse=Rangers at present?
McCall for manager I say with Durie beside him and give most of our out of contract players to flog it in the summer :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said wee bill. Only having a much-needed laugh! I'd think that the players I mentioned couldn't do much worse than say Law, Aird, Boyd, Daly. The loan players are an unknown quantity so I'm not sure when/if they'd be played. But a team with Gallacher, Crawford, McKay, Murdoch and Hutton does sound more exciting for the future of our great club. I wouldn't mind McCall as manager.

What sanctions can rangers face if found guilty of sectarian singing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Probably a heavy fine or parts of the stadium closed.i don't know about anybody else but I wish the persons who still want to sing these songs would just f#%k off back to the caves where they belong.they are not wanted and have gave the supporters of dignity f.c more ammunition to beat us with.we are within touching distance of exiting the worst period of our history only to be dragged back into the abyss by persons who have probably no footballing brain.these cretins don't care about Rangers that is obvious.so the pending question is, how do we flush these turds from our club.i personally would love to see the police go in mob handed and huckle as many as possible.maybe that would be a start but also up to decent fans like most on here to tell them they are not wanted.
