Sir Walter, have always supported Scotland ??????? and was lucky enough to be at Wembley in 1967. during these times and afterward we had plenty of Rangers players in Scotland teams. abd therefore a lot of Rangers support followed national team.

football has changed in that we now have so many players of various nationalities and a lot of our support will not have seen these times with Scotland and perhaps don't have the same fervour we grew up with.

I was at the game in Paris when McFadden scored. Not felt this way about Scotland since then.

Steely, your post about plenty of Rangers players playing for Scotland in the past made me think. As a wee exercise I took matches v England as a guide in the 20 years since my first Wembley in 1967 up until 1986. In that time there were 8 years when no Rangers player was selected, 5 years when one was selected (usually Greig or Forsyth), 4 years when 2 were picked and just 3 years (1968, 69 and 70) where 3 were selected.

I was always slightly confused when I read about us being the backbone of the Scotland team, as this little cameo demonstrates. In fact, in 17 of those matches the mhankies had more players selected than us. Food for thought.

in those years both old firm clubs had many very very good players,

as you know TS, a veritable feast of quality and courage.
