When I seen the team v Roma my first thought was this is NOT Danny team.
I have been informed that Thelwell is not picking the team, but has a big say on who should be playing due to loan deal game time and obviously trying to cover his brown crack with the money spent on players.
Get tae ****.

It looks clear as day certain players have contract stipulations to play certain amounts of games.
Is this the "structure and timing" issues that swayed Gerrard and Muscat from not taking the job.
07 Nov 2025 01:35:23
Cheers horse.
I'd imagine there's x amount of games due to loan deals inserted. As we would also do.
07 Nov 2025 01:48:04
I can believe that with the loans mate I'm sure someone sayed there will be fines if certain players don't play x amount of minutes.
07 Nov 2025 02:18:52
Seems pretty clear to most Failwells been influencing the team picks since he came in,
And leaving tactics to the manager, to be fair though i think only Gerrard, Gio and Clements best sides could have matched or beaten that Roma team, just look at the quality they had on the bench that would be 1st picks for us, if we could attract that calibre of player now, and they had several key 1st team players missing due to injury we got off lightly, could have another massacre like brugge who to be fair came very close to beating Barca,
That forward they have scored 2 beautys against them and left Barcelona defense for dead twice they'll make serious coin on him if he continues like that.
07 Nov 2025 03:02:42
Guy really needs to bolt. He's ruining our club
He's useless bout as much use as a chocolate fire guard
Shocking deal chermeti
23 mill wasted on him over 2 teams
He's a bloody smoke screen for THREWELLs dodgy dealings
Get him tae. before the walloper ruins us more
Threwll out, N OUT NOW OUTTTTTTTT@! @@@!
07 Nov 2025 05:32:50
White horse i'm sure you'll be the exact same mate that we all hope Chermiti comes good but i have serious doubts he'll come good for us ?If the rumours are true and Chermiti does go out on loan in january, then Thelwell has to go as it's glaringly obvious he's out his depth ?In fact tbh he has to go full stop and take Patrick Stewart with him ?.
07 Nov 2025 05:54:34
I called it with Moore a few months back and was laughed at. Until Thelwell leaves the club we're dead in the water. Once the Americans leave (next 18 months) we'll be in an end game situation.
07 Nov 2025 07:25:09
He 100% is got told this twice last night. there's no doubt aboit it.
07 Nov 2025 07:37:58
What makes you think they will be gone in 18 months Dado? Secondly, who is going to buy the Americans share of a basket case club like ours?
07 Nov 2025 07:42:12
Told that by randomers at the game that have read it online?
See all the nonsense Rohl would have had to deal with at Sheffield Wednesday with their owner, you paying wages etc. do you really think he would take a job with the sporting director picking the team for matches? Why would he do that?
07 Nov 2025 07:46:29
I don't for one second believe that Thelwell has any input in to the team selection.
Out of genuine curiosity, what players do you think he was told to start and what alternatives do you think he should have started?
07 Nov 2025 07:51:54
Scott no not at the game and read online??. Unless players are lying and making stories up its a pretty credible source.
07 Nov 2025 08:00:32
Personally thought Chermiti had a decent game last night and he does put in a shift he is only 21 and think he just needs a couple goals for some confidence. Can't really have a 10 million player rotting away need to try get the best out him.
07 Nov 2025 08:33:54
No way is Rohl being 'advised' who to play.
Moore has improved and been our best player in last few games.
Not buying this rumour.
07 Nov 2025 08:47:09
Rangers fans man ? this going to happen every time we lose, blame Thelwell for picking the team? Absolutely bonkers surely nobody actually believes it ? People will just jump and cling on to any anti Thelwell story it's embarrassing, the sporting director is not picking the starting 11 just drop it.
07 Nov 2025 08:51:47
What has happened to our site.
Have we lost all sanity and tolerance and now live in a world of make believe and conspiracy.
I am in no doubt that Kevin Thelwell plays zero part in the selection of the team.
The enjoyment of this site is seriously waning with the conspiracy theories.
07 Nov 2025 09:27:32
There's no truth in Thewell involvement in the team selection. What I can tell you is they've met almost every day to plan for January with certain positions none negotiable to get in from Rohl - deals working already.
I'm yet to be convinced that Stewart and/or Thewell will see much longer. Fan pressure will force the hand.
07 Nov 2025 09:41:29
It's all just down to poor recruitment from the 49"s at the beginning and the poor recruitment has followed into management and players. I believe there was an underlying failure by all in understanding what was required.
07 Nov 2025 10:17:51
I did as well rfc. Fair play to the big guy.
07 Nov 2025 10:22:50
While I'm not stating that the op is wrong I'm struggling to see who would have improved the starting line up last night. (Maybe Cornelius for Meghoma? ) The simple fact is our recruitment has been abysmal. Not an exact science but here is a comparison of replacements in 1 transfer window……. I struggle to see a single area where the team has been improved, despite spending upwards of £35m
Hamza Igamane - Chermiti
Jefté - Meghoma
Cyriel Dessers - Miovski
Ridvan Yilmaz - Aarons
Robin Pröpper - Cornelius
Leon Balogun - Djiga
Óscar Cortés - Antman
lanis Hagi - Aasgaard
José Cifuentes?
Ben Davies - Fernandez
Ross McCausland - Moore
Tom Lawrence - Rothwell
Vaclav Cerny - Gassama.
07 Nov 2025 11:06:49
I personally thought Chermiti put a decent shift in last night. He won a good few battles, ran the channels and closed down well. A wee bit more confidence and composure in front of goal and he could have had a very good night.
I'll add that, for the first time, I saw flashes of something from Max Aarons at left back.
I'm not yet convinced by either of them, but with Danny Rohl coaching them, they may yet come good. Here's hoping.
07 Nov 2025 11:07:16
I think Cornelius is an improvement on Propper.
Moore is more talented than McCausland.
Antman is available which makes him better than Cortes.
Apart from that it has been a downgrade.
07 Nov 2025 10:43:24
Correct EHL, pure madness in thinking Thelwell picks our team.
07 Nov 2025 10:51:33
In terms of team selection I am also of the opinion it is down to the manager. Yea there may be stipulations regarding'costs' in regards playing time for loan players, but as EHL said who would play in lieu of the likes of Djiga, Moore and Aarons.
The simple fact is we are light on the ground in defence with little option at RB/LB/CH, and on the wing it's Moore or Antman…
Whilst I agree with many this is a weak squad Rohl has simply got to work game by game to fix, improve and press on. Last night merely highlighted a lack of power (for want of a better word) throughout the spine. We are very vulnerable to set plays, lacking both height and aggression and cannot see any changes till Jan (which will likely amount to another loan or two, unless extremely lucky).
For me that instability at the back means we are less effective going forward, because our build up seem ponderous or long ball (often due to our defenders taking so long with the ball they are shut down with no avenue other than route one) ….
So whilst all ills are not just defensive, it does seem that rather than a huge one window scsttergun approach, we need to solidify at the back and just maybe can then see more from Chermiti, Miovski, Gassama et al.
07 Nov 2025 10:52:57
Not a new thing when clubs allow you to take they're young talent and have an agreement on game time when fit and available, Rangers will use it where appropriate too, no major club will send a player to sit in the stand will they, not when that player is already a first team player or a serious talent.
It's the price you pay for favours i'm afraid. and its well established i believe.
07 Nov 2025 12:18:59
I have it on good authority that thelawll doesn't pick team. Team orders are coming from spaceship 3i atlas.
07 Nov 2025 12:50:38
I don't think Thelwell is picking the team but there may be certain guaranteed minutes built into loan deals that Danny Rohl has inherited ( I wonder if this was one of the reasons SG said no ). It would explain how the woeful Djiga, erratic Meghoma and even Moore are getting game time. I don't doubt that Moore may become a great player but all he does at the moment is run about with the ball, head down until he runs into a defender.
I still see him as an impact sub only.
Even if the loan deal stuff is true that doesn't explain Rohl picking Chermiti who is actually our player, god help us.
07 Nov 2025 15:18:53
Wslgers, I agree regarding minutes being played as part of the loan deal.
07 Nov 2025 16:25:24
Chermetis price getting bigger than the day. 15 million now lol. Prob be 20m by tomoz.
10 Nov 2025 10:54:27
Thelwell isn't spending the money, the board are, he just advises and as the board don't have a clue and trust his guidance as Cavanagh has repeatedly stated Thelwells proposed signings are done. So who exactly are the mugs? Cavanagh and Stewart would need to agree to disasters like Chermiti.
