Typical, create a post and an update already in!
Seems a further week delay for Bordeaux, so assume a waiting game for Maja, if we still want him.

Hopefully it’s all agreed and there’s a gentleman’s agreement in place and signing can happen as soon as it’s done. There’s no way this match gets replayed now all the players will be on holiday. It’s Bordeaux fans own stupid fault.

2.) 12 Jun 2023 13:54:23
Hope we still in for him and gets sorted out soon.

3.) 12 Jun 2023 15:18:44
Kaisers. Beale wants maja.

4.) 12 Jun 2023 16:16:46
Saw montpellier also being linked with him. Can't see anything on the rematch decision tho.

5.) 12 Jun 2023 19:12:45
Home defeat kaiser.

Today sounds like D Day in France regarding Bordeaux and more importantly Josh Maja.
I saw in France belief is that Bordeaux will lose their appeal for a re-match, meaning Maja will become a free agent. Then I'm sure we'll see if our interest is truly concrete!
Would like to think so as this May free up a little more money to pursue other targets.

Great news Macnaughten.

It was a sad display and worse I don’t think unexpected. Having said that the midfield looked leggy and from 1 player disinterested and the defense made me rubbish my eyes whenever it was attacked. No substitute for pace of play and we are looking more pedestrian as the weeks go by.
Much as it pains to say our squad doesn’t have the required depth of player required to compete yet and the spectre of FFP leads me to think we chose the path of re-signing, bolstered by free transfers and young ‘potential’ laden players. (However I think most can be good players. We just need them on the park) . Not a Gio issue as the club simply has to balance the books, but tactics and fight should be a given. Some of the errors today we’re very avoidable but the players looked simply terrified of their pace.
Let’s hope we can get some of our absentees back quickly….

We move on boys…. Nothing else for it ??✌️.

2.) 03 Sep 2022 18:35:25
When the captain and vice captain are too busy pointing fingers at each other and let celtic score instead of concentrating we are in dire straits.

3.) 03 Sep 2022 18:39:48
Yately0001, yes we move on, but as already stated, this was not unexpected. Those of us who have had concerns, especially about playing 3 defensive minds, saw every concern played out today.
Cant single out anyone for praise, it was again, expected.

4.) 03 Sep 2022 18:44:33
Move on to ware itl be the same boring as f#ck passing back for the nxt spl game so move on naw a don't think so were no in decline we've declined awready am afraid.

5.) 03 sep 2022 18:58:28
it was time to replace goldson morellos kent and the older guys

we instead offered new contracts, we had already gotten all they could give, waiting for a good kent game is like a child waiting from one xmas to another, an eternity.

6.) 03 Sep 2022 19:26:26
Kent is brutal one good game in 10 if yer lucky the problem with us is our wingers don’t/ can’t score goals and theirs scores for fun.

7.) 03 Sep 2022 20:09:58
Awful performance today, an embarrassment but not the least bit surprised, the psv away win papered over huge early season cracks, the football so far has been dross, too slow and lacking any imagination or creativity, let's start with the board, they have steadied the ship and done lots of good but they've been found wanting here, charging huge ticket prices for a competition you don't prepare us for, anyone with half a brain knows the squad is short of 2 or 3 class players, I said here the other day 12 months ago our team would have mcgregor, bassey, Jack, aribo and morelos, now we have mclaughlin, Sands, tillman, Lawrence and colak, a downgrade in every way, the manager who most on here worship, whilst slagging the guy who won us a league and stopped the ten has now been hammered twice in 3 visits to parkhead, under Gerrard we would never and didn't ever get a doing, we at least competed, postecoglou has that lot playing quick, attacking football, everything gio doesn't do for us

Mclaughlin will never be a rangers number 1 goalie, hopefully today puts that to bed for the lunatics who claim he is, he was poor at the first 2 goals today and horrendous at the 4th

We have centre halves who are slow and cannot defend a cross ball, not just today but every week

Barisic got and continues to get dogs abuse for the parkhead loss in February, completely unfair, he wasn't brilliant today but competed and threw 4 perfect crosses in during that first half that were begging to be attacked, I wonder if others will get the abuse after today

Midfield is slow, predictable and doesn't score goals or offer a goal threat

Tillman has potential but game far too quick for him

Colak has scored goals but not in morelos' class

Our 2 right wingers Wright and matondo, couldn't make a player out of the 2 of them, on the other wing Kent tries hard but is a shadow of the player he was

Problems all over the shop and a long season awaits.

8.) 03 Sep 2022 20:10:53
Storm, they have players with pace, who are prepared to shoot on sight, we have no pace, and how often do you see us shoot on sight? very rarely, rather pass it out to the wings to pass it backwards again, it's getting very tedious now watching this. He has to change things quickly or its a very long season in my opinion.

Much as we may find it unpalatable we have to move players out before getting new in. Otherwise not only is the squad bloated but you end up with a real fire sale because those around know you have to move players on. That being said it does look like some of the heavy earners are going soon. Adding players of ‘international’ caliber is key (and having I believe a UK based leader is also required) . It’s clear we need experience and as with all my real fear is an inability to take our chances. Have to hope Silva gets his fitness up and begins to play more, both for his sake and to pressure what looks like a Dessers currently under no pressure from another striker
As for Lennon Miller, whilst I would love him at Ibrox. I don’t see him as a starter yet. That’s not to say his age has anything to do with it, more I’d rather see him play more regularly and develop as a player and physically. So for me his signing would only come if we hit CL. Personally I would leave him on loan at M’Well to play 40+ games and develop under less pressure. (Don’t see the point spending £3-4m to have him a bit part player) As I would rather comes to Rangers ready to go into the 11.

Here’s an off the cuff striker suggestion, and a bit of fun.
would five us a mix of youth and experience

Sell Dessers for what we can get, sign McBurnie (on a free and an avowed supporter) . Swap Davies for Conway ( BC may want £5m but having ostracized the player to reserves may be worth it) . May not break the bank in terms of fees or salary, as I suspect McBurnie will accept less eathwr than another year in. championship where i know he is not on a kings ransom at Sheff Utd.

I think at the end of the day we are governed by those players who are actually generating ‘transfer’ interest.
The desire to move on a team of players from Dowell, Hagi, Goldson, Tav, Lammers, Wright etc needs to be tempered with both expectations as to what we are likely to receive for them as well as whether they go.
We’ve seen Lammers reject a number of opportunities due to salary demands (which he is entitled to do), and I think we may need to be creative in helping move some high earners on.
That then means we equally have to be creative in our signings from here on in. Don’t shoot me when I say looking at both the ‘free’ market for players like McBurnie, Tyrese Campbell and McKenna or finding creative ways to attract the likes of Conway (last year of contract and currently banished from his 1st team training, such as player swaps (say Ben Davies for him) .
Money is tight and we need to box clever and I think be more frugal in our contracts, but I believe we will get more experience in. Loan to buy seems a clear path.
As to CL it’ll come down to the draw and where the squad is at. Like it or not if the said players are still here come CL qualifiers then if they’re deemed important enough they’ll play.
I am an optimist without being naive. At heart we all want to unearth the next ‘o’reilly’ and our strategy is moving that way. Just hope the manager gets the time to see this through.

Value is still about!

Interesting reading a number of outlets saying Donny V D Beek leaving Man U for Girona for around €500k.
Man U paid 9 times that before! And I suspect he will be taking a handsome pay cut to make the move
Shows there are bargains about, for both young and seasoned players, especially those whose careers have for one reason or another stalled ….

The last 10years have been a rollercoaster ride, and tbh I don’t see that changing in the short term.
I don’t foresee any new owner speeding in with a bottomless pit of money. We have what we have in terms of directors (who I do believe have the club’s well being at heart) .
Our European adventures over the past 5-6 years have been a joy and show that we can be competitive at a good level (Europa), and last season we really did have the league in our own hands with less than 10 games to go.
Where we have to get better is in generating better funding from a player trading model (easier said than done) . Means more Basseys and Patersons coupled with knowing when to move players on (Morelos and Kent to name a few) . That generates confidence in the club, the market, potential investors and ultimately attracts a better quality of player. There are plenty of examples of ‘smaller’ clubs like Copenhagen, Czech sides like Slavia and others who have thrived at a good level. No reason why we cannot ever match and exceed.

I agree with most here.
We have to sell before buying any more, and need to be fiscally responsible.
What is frustrating is the time taken to sell players we deem ‘surplus’ to requirements. I don’t think for one minute we are not trying to move players on, but the markets we are operating in are not premium (eg. Utrecht for Lammers) and I have no doubt the current wages the likes of Lammers, Dessers, Goldson, Tav etc are on mean it is even harder.
I do feel for PC as I believe he is working hard to re-balance the squad, bringing in young players. He understandably now want experienced 1st 11 players in but is financially tied, and the board simply cannot sanction signing the type we need in the hope we make CL. This I think is why he will look at the loan market….
I do believe we will move players on, and HOPE that we make CL as it does appear this is the only chance to re-shape the squad more quickly.

Think the Belgium job is attractive simply for to the caliber of players available, although with the end of their ‘golden generation’ nigh I think they’ll go through a period of rebuild. I
I think on that basis PC would probably like a couple more ‘successful’ club seasons with us first and then head back for that job. He does strike me as a man who likes to ‘complete’ a mission first and I think CL football and league title will fuel his fires first.

Missing out on ‘main targets’ is a very subjective thing. Particularly on a rumours site like this, where few people really do know the inner workings of PC and his transfer strategy.
We have our valuations on players (both buying and selling) as do Motherwell, Rapid B, Penarol et al.
And…. At the end of this the players are human and as such prone to changes of heart, influence from family, friends and agents.

Personally I think the business we have done is far reaching nature and shows how hard a club needs to work getting players to come (even Scots, who have now been shown to be more adaptable to life in the likes of Italy than in the past) . No longer is the Gers Shirt enough of a reason to come play and we, like others will have 3+ prospects per position because the nature of transfers appears more precarious by the day.

I think all would agree we mean Scottish or Scottish qualified players who can play 1st team football.
Which is why we have been linked at times with Kenny Maclean, Kelly, Barron, Harry Soutar, McKenna and more. Don’t believe we actively seek out squad fillers but at the same time we need to be both diligent and pragmatic in terms of costs and euro implications.
