By all accounts (including manager) Bajrami had an excellent game for Albania. He was everywhere, which is good to hear. Just hope we use him in a natural role.
At around €4m could be a fairly low cost gem (a lot for us, but in the scheme of things 4m for a 25yr old international with good Serie A experience could prove vital) z.

seems he played left wing although he played no10 for his last club. so anywhere along the front or just behind seems good. he also covered the left back last night which will mean at least Yilmaz or Jefte will get some support where they are struggling against someone> hopefully Cerny starts ti do same on other side.

2.) 09 Sep 2024 14:31:18
We’ll play him right mid ?.

3.) 09 Sep 2024 19:24:46
I think we'll see him left side of the midfield 3 in most games.

4.) 09 Sep 2024 20:04:02
Irrespective.

5.) 09 Sep 2024 21:55:23
Are you saying we will change formation EHL? we don't play with a midfield 3.

6.) 10 Sep 2024 03:56:29
Cool coldo but you will never get me saying play a winger in the centre of the park or make an arse of where airfield played, I can't help quality can't play our league.

7.) 10 Sep 2024 13:26:13
Rayger it depends how you consider we play. If it is 4-3-3 then the left side of the middle 3 is LS midfielder and wingers play as forwards. If we play a 4-2-3-1 then in the 3 the wingers would be considered midfield players so he would play left attacking midfielder. If you don't believe the 3 are midfield then google 4-2-3-1 formation.

Sat in my hotel room whilst away at work, and drifting through you tube.
Ended up watch some re-runs of Rangers last big Euro run. Wins over Dortmund, Leipzig, Red Star and Braga. What struck me was;
1. They played a simple, effective game utilizing wings, cross balls and applying real pressure, whilst flooding the box in attack. High tempo football
2. How swift they were in transition when winning back the ball.
3. The relentless edge with which they played
4. The clear fire in the players eyes

I know there was an element of luck, and GVB didn't translate Europe to the league, but the football was a joy to watch .

When you think, it's a simple game really, when played with passion, decisiveness and that will to win.

Nostalgia trip over.

Yes did the same myself this morning we were fantastic during that run, Morelos, Kent Aribo were terrific.

Just a side note: those who denigrate our league. Fenerbache beaten by Lille and John Lundstram inspired Trabzonspor dumped out of Europe already by Rapid of Austria.
Big spending doesn't necessarily win the day!

Lille are a banging team rapid not too shabby either.

2.) 15 Aug 2024 19:59:33
Well done to killie seeing off tromso and to brann asthor.

3.) 15 Aug 2024 20:04:49
Let’s just focus on our own club, sorry dosent soften the blow for me if a Turkish team is out aswell.

4.) 15 Aug 2024 20:44:28
Correct rosevale.

5.) 16 Aug 2024 07:53:54
It all depends on who those clubs waste money on.

6.) 16 Aug 2024 08:52:16
Here's another stat, we're out at the first hurdle also, luckily we've got the EL. I just feel we need to forget about all these other teams, as we are a total shambles ourselves at this time.

Typical, create a post and an update already in!
Seems a further week delay for Bordeaux, so assume a waiting game for Maja, if we still want him.

Hopefully it’s all agreed and there’s a gentleman’s agreement in place and signing can happen as soon as it’s done. There’s no way this match gets replayed now all the players will be on holiday. It’s Bordeaux fans own stupid fault.

2.) 12 Jun 2023 13:54:23
Hope we still in for him and gets sorted out soon.

3.) 12 Jun 2023 15:18:44
Kaisers. Beale wants maja.

4.) 12 Jun 2023 16:16:46
Saw montpellier also being linked with him. Can't see anything on the rematch decision tho.

5.) 12 Jun 2023 19:12:45
Home defeat kaiser.

12 Jun 2023 12:15:57
Today sounds like D Day in France regarding Bordeaux and more importantly Josh Maja.
I saw in France belief is that Bordeaux will lose their appeal for a re-match, meaning Maja will become a free agent. Then I'm sure we'll see if our interest is truly concrete!
Would like to think so as this May free up a little more money to pursue other targets.

I would expect we’ll need to all but give him away, for no other reason than if we want him and his salary gone our bargaining position isn’t great.

Love the sweeping statements about Tav, his sub 5% fan rating, him leaving after 10yrs for being shouted at once…. All crafted statements from those who seem to know little but sound off endlessly with the same mantra…
If Tab leaves because he’s hounded out by fans that’s sad. Same for any professional footballers. Yes they’re paid well, and can take abuse on a Saturday but gets more difficult when it’s vitriolic and personal.
I wouldn’t take that at work, neither should a footballer, and don’t give any tosh about it being acceptable because footy is ‘different’…
Show dissent if you wish, criticism of a player is fine (let’s face it none of the 17 squad covered themselves in glory on Sunday)!
But less of the ‘if you don’t agree with me that he’s cr@p, or useless’ then you know nothing line. and Ray why don’t you look at your fellow posters and you’ll see hundreds of ‘different’ views on players, formations etc… so yea you’re bound to at some point get something right.

Wouldn’t suprise me to see him get an extension.
Likely a year if that means he retains a sell on value rather than walks at the end of a season. PC did say he wanted to do away with players walking away on a free, even if the actual fee we receive for some players is relatively low.

Wonder if the foreign player could be Thom Haye. DM from Dutch football (as PC seems determined to have a real No.6). I expect a cheap option and at 29 plenty experience after more than a decade in Eresevisie.

A workmanlike performance with a few clever touches and an excellent goal from Cerny. We are still profligate in front of goal and if we could be more decisive in the box then some team will get a spanking… on the other hand, our inability to finish teams off when in the ascendancy could cost us heavily… two sides of same coin.

Thought the balance overall was fine, but am worried about the lack of genuine pace at both ends of the park. Defensively we appear able to be constantly hit by a simple over the top, and we just miss that blistering pace which causes so much trouble. But end of the day, 3 points, clean sheet and keeping pace with top 2.

What has been apparent this season is that we are soft in the middle of the park. Lack of a genuine DCM means we are being played through all too often, which puts so much pressure on a shakey back 4. That’s also true getting out of defense where we seem to persist in passing the ball across our back and middle (last night with disastrous consequences) . Full backs are struggling, one through terminal decline, the other being young, at times undisciplined and for me being more of a wing back (or even winger) . I think we have the No.10 on the park, but our own wing play is currently not cutting it on many levels. Up front we are simply not clinical, but don’t have many options.
Injuries have really left this squad thin in certain areas and I suspect is why we see certain players like dowell getting game time. wish we had a few gems ready to step up but right now would we be prepared to put them thru games like last night, Aberdeen or Celtic.
As many have said we need a few windows to clear out unwanted players and replace them with younger, hungry and somehow better players…. also means we don’t have the luxury of leaving better players on bench in games after this as we cannot guarantee backups will even win in SPL. though I do suspect we will start to see a certain Romanian very soon. Just hope he adds something he promises but like the team in general currently cannot consistently deliver.

If you take a little look at the Europa League Table you’ll see Besiktas sat in 36th place gdog … his team beaten at home 3-1 after a 4-0 drubbing last week. Doesn’t appear his set up is much better in Europe either, and at a club with significantly higher spending power than the current Rangers team.
Most on here believed Cerny would be a great asset (but to date he’s been less than stellar granted) .
Our squad in certain positions is paper thin and injuries mean the likes of barjrami cannot play at 10. Barron and Jefte will make mistakes. PC admitted we need a no.6 but sadly were we declined by a number of players like Klaassen, so what can we do….

Sobering result, and more than one player found wanting at this level. Cerny has been disappointing certainly and Jefte and Barron will learn from this. Lyon were good but not spectacular, however they have some serious talent where it matters up front. What having €120m+ can buy.

Pace is a real killer as both top Scots sides have found to their cost this week, but that quality doesn’t come cheap. Even Sima (who more than a few here don’t rate) came outside our budget and I believe we were hampered by players who had offers but didn’t want to go (as is their prerogative).

I don’t like seeing where we currently are but also am a realist and understand we had to balance books in summer. We have to persevere and trust PC to improve ‘younger’ players and hope the club can move on certain players we would like gone, but I fear for the foreseeable we are in a market of frees, loans, young prospects, and reclamation players.

Not wanting manager sacked but another manager would do better?
We have lost 2 times this season. Yesterday was poor, but we won. Everyone here was waxing lyrical about midweek (though we all wanted more goals) . Tactics spot on. Fast forward 3 days and all is doom and gloom, PC appears to have no tactical acumen.
We are a team in transition and will have these growing pains. Every time there is a change the manager question the only thing you can guarantee here is that we all disagree who we would like to see as manager…fantastic swashbuckling performances resulting in winning all games and strolling to the league title are sadly some time away. So for now I will settle with winning ugly, regularly and seeing the likes of Jefte, Barron, Diomande et all improve as the season progresses.
