Was looking at something last night guys. Qarabag have spent 5.9 million euros on players since 2022 apparently. They are regularly in the CL and competing. You would hope with Rangers investing many many more millions we should be qualifying too.

It's going through multiple qualifying rounds for Qarabag as well. Celtic struggle too when they don't get in automatically. Is it a mentality thing with Scottish clubs?

Could it be they have quite a few home country players in there squad plus a few Brazilians.
Work as a team and do not pay inflated salies to mediocre players. thought we are trying to reduce wage bill and we go and spend fortune on someone like Charmiti, who lacks even basis skils to be average striker.

do you think they are paying any of there Brazilian players 30k a week like us with Dinilo.
Just shows if you have right recruitment in place you do not need to pay inflated sales.

Far better scouting network than us.

They do not qualify regularly. This is their second time qualifying, the last time was 2017.

Still impressive to qualify with only spending 6 million since 2022 but saying they regularly qualify and compete is untrue.

Is it because Rangers are a "big" club so it is expect to pay bigger wages and transfer fees etc

Plus then our inability to develop players has shown over recent years.

The inability to appointment a good manager, the whirlwind of new managers every 12-18months. doesn't fill anyone with confidence.

Amazing though, it may well be that they are paying high wages, i don't know but they come from a cash rich country. its possible they pay low initial costs and high wages to attract players.

whether we are paying over the odds or not its about getting players to come to play in our set up and country.

half of our targets didn't want to come, so its not as easy as just saying we shouldn't pay over the odds.

i do agree on price for Chermiti but people in the know seem to believe we will make a good profit on the lad. not writing him off just yet. Danilo is a frustration, really had high hopes for the lad but hasn't justified his price tag.

Paul how familiar are you with Qarabag FKs scouting network?

Their record transfer sale is €5m? Are you sure their scouting network is far better than ours or are you just saying that because your in a huff?

Paul

It's not long ago we were hailing our new scouting and youth system one best in Europe.

Congrats to Qarabag and their success. Analytics have their place and some of the gems plucked from relative obscurity have been startling and refreshing.
Would temper this in respect of Rangers (on this site anyway), as I am under no illusions there would be howls of derision if we plucked seemingly unknowns from 2nd tier clubs in Europe or obscure small Eastern European teams…we have seen on here many times the 'not Rangers class' mantra rolled out by more than one in relation to some of our signings (and that's from established English Championship clubs), from a league viewed by many as superior to SPL…
Add a few no name Brazilian or African players, and I suspect they would be chased from the building if their play wasn't almost instantly mesmerizing ….

So whilst I applaud Hearts, Qarabag and some Cypriot sides for their excellent signings, it would take a real sea change in attitude from those here before that would be deemed an acceptable route (if it was to be the main one)
