So my opinion on Chermiti is that he's a good player, he will have a good career, and given time and the correct environment and coaching he'll come good.

I'd loan him back to Portugal in January for 6 months and bring him back and have a look at him in the summer with the view to another loan.
Is he eligible to play for another club though this season?
If not Thata that idea done.

That could actually be a shout. He looks lost to me at the moment and could do with (for lack of a better phrase) a reset in his career.

05 Nov 2025 10:38:22
We ain't loaning out a player we paid 8 million for.

05 Nov 2025 10:39:38
Will be Stevie, never kicked a ball for Everton this season mate, same, thinking he'll have a good career.

05 Nov 2025 10:40:50
Stevie, what gives you the impression that Chermiti is a good player was it his performances and goal scoring record at Everton or his performances and goal scoring for us.

05 Nov 2025 10:59:18
Stevie G - are u getting a cut from Thelwell?? the big bloke looks like a man lost and could do with a large needle injection of football skill and ability from somewhere - the Everton fans were glad to see the back of him which says it all and that kind soul Thelwell made it happen - my gut feeling is that he will be one of if not THE worst ever signings for Rangers Football Club - what a waste of money that SHOULD have been spent elsewhere - we will NEVER see any decent cash back on this one- I would love to stand corrected on this one - but I suppose time will tell? ???.

05 Nov 2025 11:17:42
Cant see any of that happening ?? no evidence what so ever of him being a good player.

05 Nov 2025 11:27:40
Rangers can't afford to be buying £8 million players and sending them out on loan.
That money should have been used for a proven goal scorer. Not potential.
Thelwell should be chased out of Ibrox for sanctioning that deal.

05 Nov 2025 12:16:00
I think it's telling than someone mentioned to a Everton about him. They were amazed we payed so much for him. I think they also said when we came in for him they had actually forgotten about him and they had him.
Or what I like to call the Matondo enigma.

05 Nov 2025 12:19:50
BT i was going to ask the same question. I think it's because he's Portuguese people think this, if the boy was Scottish with a track record like this there wouldn't be people thinking he'll have a good career. Genuine question to start and stevieg2 what does give you that impression? Going by what you've seen so far and his record at Everton.

05 Nov 2025 12:23:14
I would guess that Chermiti was a big, strong player in his youth who could dominate young opposition defences and score a good few goals. Scouts would sit up and take notice. With Everton and Rangers though against experienced professionals, different ballgame.

05 Nov 2025 12:24:00
I think he has good technique, good first touch and close ball control, he gets into good areas inside and outside the box in terms of space.

I think he needs to settle down a bit and we're not the right fans to do that in front of.

A wee 6 month loan would be great for him I think.

Storm totally under your point mate, but he's under contract and if his wages are covered by the orher team then it's a great move for him and for us in the longer term.

Ppl need to drop the price tag and look at him as what he is a young foreign striker who's had a few injury problems and think of what is best for him.

I'd loan him out and bring in a loan in his place. Re evaluate in the summer.

He mayb smash it over in Portugal and we could sell at a profit or laim him again and sell at higher profit. We need to think outside of our very small box in Glasgow for once.

05 Nov 2025 13:02:54
He is absolutely hopeless, he has no pace, no touch, hardly wins a ball in the air and cannot finish. If we had brought him in on a free I would think we would be looking to terminate his contract.
He is right up there with the worst strikers we have ever signed and the fact that we paid £8million for him is beyond belief.

The fact that Thelwell has now paid big money for him TWICE shows just how incompetent and ill equipped for his current job that he is. The only way we will even get rid of Chermiti is if Thelwell leaves, gets another job and signs him for his new club.

05 Nov 2025 13:05:16
We need to sell him but unfortunately would need to take a massive hit on him. I was hopeful he would come good, but those chances he missed at weekend confirms to me that he won't. Even Sebo would have taken those chances.

05 Nov 2025 13:37:58
Takes people time to settle into playing for Rangers, Especially given he's a young striker with a huge price tag. I think he'll come good we can't loan an 8m£ player that's crazy talk.

05 Nov 2025 13:43:18
Unless you are willing to pay around 80% of Chermitis wages you have to ask which from Sporting, Benfica or Porto are queuing up to take him back to Portugal. I suspect none.

Not sure he would even make the bench at Braga by what I've seen so far if I'm honest. Thelwell claimed high risk high reward potential. It just looks like all risk no reward from my angle.

05 Nov 2025 14:08:20
Stevie - We should have been thinking out our very small box at board level in Glasgow (cheers Mr 'Moneybags-Thelwell') and REALISED that an 8-10 Million pound lottery project was not what was actually required but a hit the road goal-scorer with a credible record and history was actually what we needed and certainly not for 8 MILLION QUID- "all our eggs in one 8 Million basket comes to mind" ??.

05 Nov 2025 16:07:13
Blue Floyd absolutely correct mate.

It's now aboit how to best move forward with the situation though.

We can't influence the past we can only try and make the best of the situation and for me a loan deal would be best for the lad.

Ppl saying we can't loan out an £8m striker, fair enough, but what should we do? Just let him turn into the next sebo?

We need to try and look after our investment and if that is by putting him out on loan for experience and confi and to find a happy place again then that's what we should do. Price tags donw matter once the player is on our books.

05 Nov 2025 18:51:11
To be quite honest Stevie - the problem doesn't really lie with the player (although he is not what we need right now) - its who made the purchase which will be the major problem if we really want to progress - Its Thelwell who needs to be loaned out and get experience elsewhere as he obviously doesn't GET our club and what our club needs at present - I just don't trust this man with money for any future purchases and hopefully 49rs Top management see this and act on it or we will definitely end up in a worse place - if that is possible?
Lets hope his son knows a player or two or things will be grim.
