Tav is not a legend but a very good servant to the club and was always there free of injury. took us a whisper from the europa. domestically stopped the ten in a row which was huge. BUT the curtain is closing on his Rangers career and this will be his last season. sometimes starting, sometimes not with soapy coming in for now as his replacement.

I think young Barron will eventually be our captain (just a hunch) Raskin will leave as will soapy. let's make tavs last season one for the ages domestically as we are still within sniffing distance from 3 trophies. Europe is sadly a goner but that may be a good thing. Roll on Sunday and a new beginning after the sqeaky win at easter road.

He's leaves as a legend for me even tho he's declined now to the point he shouldn't play, He's stuck by the club through a lot when his stock was high he could easily have jumped. In a Rangers team of the past he would have looked even better… his stats playing with dross are incredible season after season.

Tav should have gone at least two years ago.
That position needs sorting in January.

31 Oct 2025 14:21:24
He leaves a multi millionaire. so he's a legend at the bank.

31 Oct 2025 14:24:25
Tav was always a wing back playing in a back 4. It's not his fault he was always better than whatever right back was there or whatever right winger was there (not including Cerny). To say he's not a legend is stupid, plain daft.

31 Oct 2025 14:36:41
Legend is a very overused word nowadays. For me Rangers legends are guys like John Greig, Ally McCoist, Davie Cooper and Jim Baxter. How would Tav rate against them? For me, not remotely close.

31 Oct 2025 14:54:33
Well Teddy, seeing you're stuck back in the 70s - 90s, I'll remind you of Ferguson, Davis, McGregor, and yes Tav. I wish he won more but people will only start to truly appreciate what he's done when he's gone.

31 Oct 2025 15:00:45
Legend mate. Carried us for years at one point playing alongside dross.

31 Oct 2025 15:07:28
Sorry what's Tav done to miss him when he's gone,3 domestic trophies out of 30 ?.

31 Oct 2025 15:12:48
A Sandy Jardine he's not,
A Gary Stevens he's not,
Shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as John Greig, now there's a Real legend.

31 Oct 2025 15:15:19
No way he is a legend.

What's the stat used against Gerrard, 1 in 9 is it?

Out of interest, what would those stats look like for Tav during his tenure as captain?

31 Oct 2025 15:25:52
100% Mark44 - At least 2 years past his sell by date - good servant but Legend is stretching it a bit? Thanks for memories but time marches on and so should we as a club!

31 Oct 2025 15:43:37
Couldn't care if he's a legend or not he's been a great servant and should be remembered as such, a hall of famer and will always be welcome at Ibrox.

31 Oct 2025 15:45:50
More trophies than Harry.

31 Oct 2025 15:48:47
Spot on Teddy, Tav has been a reasonable servant to club, a legend? Not even close.

Was great in that run to Europa league final, no question. Outside of that he's been inconsistent like too many players of this 'era' such as Aribo, Kamara, Goldson etc, would have a decent 2-3 month spell followed by a really poor spell and that's been through out his time at Rangers, regardless of what his goal tally suggests. The last 2 years have been particularly poor. I've been lost as to why managers keep him as a captain, he's never captain material.

31 Oct 2025 15:59:25
BT, That is my point mate, is Tavernier held solely responsible for that? crazy how some fans think, see if Tavernier played for Celtic he'd have won all thier cups and leagues and would be hero worshipped over in the darkside,

31 Oct 2025 16:15:18
Will certainly not be missed when he is gone. so not in legend bracket. only reason he stayed did anyone really make any decent offers for him plus no-one would pay him what we did.

31 Oct 2025 16:26:54
People say he should have left years ago? god forbid someone wants to actually stay at Rangers ? if he was desperate to leave he would be slagged off and he's slagged off for wanting to stay.

we've signed a few right backs over the years, managers have kept picking him, always available and has scored big goals in big games.

if tav was a perfect defender, he wouldn't be playing in scottish league. Another season of fans moaning about tav like it's all his fault and another season of tav, so far, sitting at the top of the goal scoring table.

31 Oct 2025 16:29:38
Sorry James! You've been a loyal servant to our club, and at times, been a shining light with your goals tally, but that's it. You never are, never have been, or never will be, a club legend. That title is only bestowed on those deserving of it, and you're not one of them.

How many times did Gassama slip on wednesday, 3/ 4? People saying they hope he chooses the right boots on sunday.

Tav slips once, unfortunately he is a right back so plays in defence yes but slipping can happen to anybody on the park and if you see Gassama it can happen quite easily but because of that slip tav should be nowhere near the team. People making it out like he made a conscious decision to slip, could happen to anyone anywhere on the park.
