The standard of refereeing in Scotland has been poor for years.
VAR has helped one bit.
We can greet about the referee and VAR all we want.
But was it the ref and VAR's fault that:-
Chermiti put one past the post from 6 yards at 0-0?
Or Raskin failing to hit the target at 0-1 when we still had 11 men?
Chermiti again putting it past the post from 2 yards at 0-1?
Gassama clean through and missing at 1-2?
In that full period, Butland had a couple of wonderful saves.
Celtic also missed numerous chances.
You forget how many until you re-watch the highlights.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, our strikers / forwards will be our downfall this season.
None will come close to matching the much-maligned Desser's goal tally.
None will come close to matching a precocious talent like Igamane's goal tally.
None will come close to matching Cerny's contribution from the wing.
That isn't on the referees or VAR.
That is on the Director of Football and the players for missing these chances.

Correct mph we are simply not good enough from, far from it. Let's concentrate on the real issues rather than looking for excuses.
04 Nov 2025 11:09:08
No doubt about it we need to buy a number 9 in jan. One that actually can finish.
04 Nov 2025 11:10:54
Agreed MPH. I'd rather have Clement/Koppen's team this season - no doubt. Give me Cerny, Iggy, Dessers, Jefte - I'd even take Propper over Djiga at this moment.

Get your hard hat on for the Dessers dissenters bud, 29, 16, 18 I believe, 63 between them, where are we getting that with our current crop.
04 Nov 2025 11:48:42
Agree MPH
Theres no conspiracy IMO
Like the standard of football up here the standard of refereeing is very poor.
We lost game by not being good enough. Yes there were contentious decisions but we should be good enough to win regardless.
Reality is we're not there yet.
Worry is they're going to spend and pull further away from us.
04 Nov 2025 12:28:53
All that is correct but who knows what would have happened if it was 10 or even 9 v 10 as it should have been.
Nobody says that Rangers were good, deserved to win or even would have won, what we are saying is it would be nice to actually play a fair contest for a change then if we lose we have nobody to blame but ourselves,
04 Nov 2025 13:10:43
So we are just supposed to sit back and ignore the bias and corruption, mph? I know what you are saying regarding missed chances etc., but a game of football needs the whole package to be right and imo the officiating in almost every OF match over the past few years has leaned so far to the other side that they don't even try and disguise it, so much so that it's actually now criminal.
04 Nov 2025 13:14:47
We should never have sold big CD9 ?.
04 Nov 2025 13:23:58
I totally agree with you that we are not even close to where we should be given the relatively huge spend in the summer by the new owners. Kevin Thewell's recruitment across the board has been shocking, including Russell Martin and his mate from Everton and son. It's been that bad his job is pretty much untenable.
But for all our failings Sunday was a cup game where anything could happen. A good Celtic team would have beaten us by 4 or 5 but they could not do that because they are almost as poor as us.
With such a tight margin in the game we need some decisions to go our way in the game. There will always be a subjective element to referee calls but it's the selective lack of application of the actual rules which really has me questioning the motivation of the referees.
There will always be Maeda or Cornelius incidents which devide opinion but it's clear and obvious incidents like being in or out of the box, kicking somone in the head or blocking a shot on goal with your arm where the rules are being ignored because the seem inconvenient at the time.
All I want is a fair crack at it, don't want favours or everything to go our way, just apply the rules like was done with Aasgaard. Not a big ask from people who are supposed experts in the rules. So for me it's not just us, or just the referees it's a combination which cost us on Sunday.

I agree our players are substandard but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have a fair game. It's every single time in a meaningful game against them that it goes against us. It never goes against them because they are constantly playing the narrative that things go against them even when they don't.
You just need to look at their reaction to their offside goal. They won the game, it was offside and they are still trying to say they were cheated because it was onside.
04 Nov 2025 13:48:28
Well said Seeker.
04 Nov 2025 14:48:54
These old firm games need to be officiated by people from outside Scotland.
04 Nov 2025 14:55:58
Far as i'm aware both Dessers and igamane wanted away and were def going no matter what happened, iggy was doing whatever he wanted when he was# brought on,, nothing any DOF can do about that
the replacements are poor, i never wanted Miovski, i thought we may have found a gem in Chermiti, i was wrong on one and correct on the other, thus far,, we somehow ignored Shankland and that will be the single worst decision of the season, well just underneath th3 money spent on mio/ cher-, he is a far better footballer than both, i find that sad and frustrating,, i'm hoping Thelwell now understands what's required a bit more, but i'm not convinced.
04 Nov 2025 16:14:54
Igamane was very clear he wanted to leave
Dessers decided to go as Martin stated he was not in the manager plans for this season, unless martin not telling truth in a press conference,
Second one a massive mistake imo.
04 Nov 2025 18:17:30
Was told John from a good source that Martin spoke to a few players and asked them to find new clubs and not just squad players, that changed once results didn't go our way, same with Dessers he was in an out, just adds more frustration to that appointment and probably explains why there was unrest amongst the players.
