Intermediaries for Al-Ettifaq have made a tentative offer of £7 million for Tav and Goldson.
04 Jun 2024 20:50:29
I'm more than happy with that.
04 Jun 2024 20:58:11
Gets goldson maybe.
04 Jun 2024 20:59:15
I will drive them to Glasgow Airport.. Stevie G doing us a turn here. Forever a good in Glasgow ?.
04 Jun 2024 21:00:23
I would tell them to take a hike or double it.
04 Jun 2024 21:03:51
What time do they need picked up for airport.
04 Jun 2024 21:17:55
False can't be true, Sws says Tavs staying??, seriously add another 3mill then yes, in saying that 7 could do, frees up wages, guess we will see, bit lowball though.
04 Jun 2024 21:20:36
No chance we're getting any more than that for two players at their age.
04 Jun 2024 21:25:22
7 million upfront and 7 million off the next 2 years wage bill. I would shake the Sheikhs hand on that and try not biting it off. Thabks for the memories Tav and Goldie. When a man's got to go a man's got to go .
04 Jun 2024 21:27:56
Take the money and run!
04 Jun 2024 21:31:46
I would bite your hand off for that.
04 Jun 2024 21:35:51
£7m in and £8m of wages saved sounds great. £10m Saudi money would be superb but in all likelihood £7m is about right and a deal I’d be delighted with.
04 Jun 2024 21:42:28
3.5M each def tests the water. Could we stretch it to 5m, if so I reckon we sell.
04 Jun 2024 21:43:26
James tavernier won't be going anywhere imo ? We'll not be long in finding out if i'm correct or not.
04 Jun 2024 22:00:33
Correct hope not? deluded maybe??? time will tell bud?.
04 Jun 2024 22:03:26
Scott a Saudi team are reportedly going to offer £85m for Casemiro and he’s 32. I’d want at least £10m for them, not like the Saudis can’t afford it.
04 Jun 2024 22:14:01
Would be hoping for slightly more than 7m. I think 5m for tav andc3m for Goldson would be fair for both parties.
04 Jun 2024 22:41:52
Why accept the first bid?
I want tav to stay right, but if he’s to gk so be it.
But why does everyone want to accept 1st bids.
We say no til the 3rd bid which, if 7 opens I’d say £12m wins it.
04 Jun 2024 22:46:35
10/ 12m and they can go.
04 Jun 2024 22:50:54
10-12m sell, sell, sell.
04 Jun 2024 22:58:02
Incase they changed thier minds stevie lol,7m 7/ 8m saved on wages for two players going back the way, would wish the both well, they'd probably get an increase on wages, everyone's a winner ?.
04 Jun 2024 23:11:47
Sir Walter do you like being 2nd best year in year out?
04 Jun 2024 23:39:06
Casemiro has CL several times. Tav and Goldson can barely win trophies in scotland. 7m plus combined wages saved, say 11m. Get 2 new CBs and sterlings there to replace Tav.
No brainer we can't go knocking bids back for 2 liabilities cmon.
04 Jun 2024 23:47:04
Will cost us 5/ 6 million to replace them and we will need to probably pay they payers around 20k plus needs to be more than 7million imo.
05 Jun 2024 00:17:23
If anyone thinks we should accept a first offer of £7million for both players from a cash rich Saudi club need to give their head a wobble. If anything they leave on their market value combined which is £11.5 million minimum combined. If we do the business it has to be the best offer to the club. “Tentative offer” in business never accept a first offer. Counter offer. And work from that point. Not bite your hand off when you know the team has money. Look how clubs and agents try to use us. For £.
05 Jun 2024 06:18:04
Market value is only what someone will pay for the product.
In saying that I'd ask for 12 and settle for 10.on top of wages saved, we can't turn that down.
Forecast same will happen with Butland, low ball offer then deal struck between 8 -10.
05 Jun 2024 06:22:25
Take the money, run, and be thankful we managed to get money for them.
05 Jun 2024 06:27:52
Just because it’s Saudi doesn’t mean we can hold them to ransom
They know we want rid, both players are in there 30s
They are two of the highest earners, and let’s be honest we’ve made scapegoats out of the two of them. 7m for both thanks for the memories all the best in your future endeavours lads, sure we will see yous down the road at events in a few years.
05 Jun 2024 06:55:06
G4,i've been going to watch rangers everywhere as a season ticket holder for over 48 years now mate and i can assure you i'll never accept 2nd best and never have done my friend ?If james tavernier stays, that doesn't mean i or anyone of us for that matter, should think we'll be 2nd best because tav stays ?get a grip. ?
Clement will be signing a lot of players in this rebuild and better players along with tav who can cover his forward runs will benefit tav if he stays ?I can't believe any football minded person saying if we sign a lot of good quality players but keep our captain james tavernier, it would mean we're accepting 2nd best ? absolutely behave yourself and football doesn't work like that mate ?.
05 Jun 2024 07:35:21
7 million they are both gone, Stevie G team in Saudi aren’t loaded with money like the majority.
05 Jun 2024 07:38:41
We have a replacement for Tav in Sterling so that won’t cost money RFC.
Roofe I keep forgetting you have changed yer name ?♂️.
05 Jun 2024 07:43:10
Weird that so many on here have slated them on here all season for being poor, yet we're knocking back 7m for them?
05 Jun 2024 07:43:33
StevieG totally agree mate never ever accept the first bid it's always a tempt of resolve these clubs are cash rich if they really want they will come back.
05 Jun 2024 07:49:26
Ettifaq are not state owned and unable to offer the crazy amounts that al hilal, ittihad and ahli, 10m would probably or nearly max out there budget for the season, they are also in the middle of changing rules in the Saudi league to allow more foreign players, ettifaq are already maxed out just now.
05 Jun 2024 07:52:30
I'd honestly take less than 7 million if it meant getting those two off the books. It's essential that Tav goes this summer.
05 Jun 2024 07:55:10
Ettifaq aren't state owned and don't have the funds of the top 4 teams, Saudi league in the middle of changing the limit of foreign players and ettifaq are maxed out just now, I think 10m will probably be their max if a higher bid comes in.
05 Jun 2024 08:19:48
7mil is great money, take it. Pretty much pays a large chunk for Dio and Cortes.
05 Jun 2024 08:41:00
Also doesn't work on covering a liability who can't defend and affects team dynamics. Every team exploits him as a weakness. You tell people to get a grip yet you can't see what 99% on here can, Tav stays and it will be worse for him, he's not the same player, a bit condescending SWS, we have all spent many years of our lives following our team, not just you.
05 Jun 2024 09:03:10
How naive are some fans. ‘Take the money and run’ ‘I’ll take them to the airport’ Do we not realise how much it’ll take to replace these two in today’s market? If I hear 1 more time that we have Sterling ready replacement, he’s a utility man. We need quality to replace those two.
Stu89, agree they don’t have the funds like the PIFs but I think they’ll have more money than that. Look what they spent last summer for some sort of guide.
05 Jun 2024 09:35:05
I expect them to make an opening offer they are not going to go all in with 1st bid. I don’t expect them to be sold as a package either they will have bid for each player individually when they do.
I’m guessing that this post is a guess as we are all aware that there is interest.
Both are 1st team players and the reason we would sell is their age but I can’t see the asking price for Tav to be £7m with bids north of £5m seriously considered and with Goldson we will be asking for £5m with £3.5m-4 potentially accepted.
05 Jun 2024 09:54:55
Tav IS staying. Yes of course if stupid money comes that may change. But stupid money isn’t coming.
Cantwell
Tav
Ridvan
Butland
All agreed to stay.
05 Jun 2024 10:06:28
Sollof what's the worst that can happen? We sell them and we don't win much, that's happening right now! No change then. Fact is they are getting on a bit and are on huge wages. Johns already put a bit of info up that we are reducing wage bill by 20% so they should be first to go. Not one other club is paying money for them so 7m is a realistic offer from saudi.
05 Jun 2024 10:39:42
Could this be the first step in a Saudi buy in?
05 Jun 2024 10:43:49
Gerrard seemingly wanting Tavernier Goldson Jota and Sakala.
05 Jun 2024 10:59:05
They might not be state opened but some of their shareholders are billionaires n are indeed rich wit oil don't be fooled.
05 Jun 2024 11:26:41
Maybe wrong GDog but was your claim not shot down yesterday, that they are staying, apologies if I am bud.
05 Jun 2024 11:36:32
same folks that are saying to reject £7m also the ones moaning about how bad Tav and Goldson are.
Said it a few times on here that we cannot expect to get good money for players that we as fans say are not good enough for Scottish football.
Young Scottish players aren't wanting to come to Rangers anymore. Times have changed and the fans haven't helped that.
05 Jun 2024 11:41:38
Dado I’m not saying don’t sell them, I’m saying we can’t sell them and think the fans will be happy with Sterling and another stepping up as replacements. Facts are, they’re two of the highest earners because they’re two of the best players at the club. If there’s a mistake it’s giving the contracts out, once that’s been done, we need to protect our investment and make the best decision going forward.
We need to sell them for the value they’re worth to us, and that includes factoring in the wage we’ll save. I don’t think our top earners are earning too much for where we want to compete. If trimming needs done, it needs to happen with squad players. Ie I expect Goldson to be on roughly £35-£40k, we need a cb that demands that sort of wage in the role leading the back if we’re going to start think about champions league.
05 Jun 2024 12:17:07
Who is going to bid £7million for what a lot of people consider to be the weakest part of our squad, if it was 1 player being linked maybe but buying both of them as a partnership? we hemorrhage goals on that right side, not exactly the best partnership, if a scout came up with these 2 names he'd be sacked on the spot.
05 Jun 2024 12:25:57
Correct dado.
Fork, Gdog is just guessing and hoping it comes off so he can say I told you so.
05 Jun 2024 12:32:27
Sollof, i think more people would agree if it hadnt been for their age. Plus fans have complete apathy now toward both players due to lack of silverware and rightly or wrongly they take a lot of the blame. Goldson and Tav were bought a long time ago for combined 3.75m so to double that in transfer fee after all they years is actually a good return.
Depends how you judge sterling, if he's judged on defending he will absolutely replace Tav not a problem. Nobody is going to replace the goal scoring that's why its important we sign better wingers and attackers to share the load.
05 Jun 2024 12:58:33
Sollo -If Goldson is indeed on that cash we are being well under changed for services provided don't you think - there are many better CHs throughout the world being paid well less than that and giving a better return for the buck - the issue is finding them and convincing them to sign - that is why our overall wage structure need to change as it is not value for money we currently see with our so called SUPERSTARS/ SENIOR PROS!
05 Jun 2024 14:14:58
No probs Storm cheers?.
05 Jun 2024 14:20:26
Goldson is on crazy money here, n I for one believe there is better for less wages, but it's finding them
And signing them for our team at a good price
I also think we need a change n better at the back as we are caught out all too often
Seasons past we have been too sentimental with guys like, roofe, Jack, morelos, Kent, n held on too long, and it's cost us
We need hunger n desire witch in parts of the last few seasons we severly have lacked, we have had guys on monster wages doing nowt n not committed for to long
Would rather guy's dedicated on a decent wages that play week in week out.
