Was reading another post that suggested John27 thinks David Weir is his preferred replacement if RW goes to Nottingham Forrest. Is there not any bad blood between both party's since the debacle just a few years ago, I'm assuming not.

Wouldnt imagine so, he did a lot of our game in europe last year. If it isn't him or Paul Mitchell I wouldn't go for anyone.

Correct me if I'm wrong but was he not working with kids until around a year ago. Then promoted to assist the DOF there?
Has he had proper experience in a DOF role?
Has he dealt with agents, negotiated contracts. Built networks of useful contacts for a role like this? Dealt with press/ shareholders etc etc?
I don't fully understand the limitations of his previous roles but assisting the DOF at his club compared to becoming a DOF at a huge club like ours sounds like a massive jump up to me.
I don't know anything tho really so could be absolutely made for the role.

Agree TT12,big davie weir well respected at ibrox and undoubtedly and correctly so ?The big guy oozes class and is rangers to the core, not to mention highly rated and doing a very good job down at brighton ?.

I do stand corrected. I should go beyond the first link I open online.
It sounds like he has only been in the role for a year, but if he's good enough that shouldn't be a problem.
I do feel that particular role would be very demanding in many ways for whoever gets it, and think experience will probably be preferred.
But it would be nice to see him come back, positives would be have a good rangers man in the role with a lot of drive and ambition etc.

I would imagine Robertson would have been involved.

I think paul michell as he has extencive contacts. Well respected, done good where he's been, comes with a good cv, n could be good
But what worries me re nerlinger is yes, he knows german game,
But we thought that with gio n the dutch game,
Its all a risk but hopefully we get it right as really can't afford them getting any futher forward than they already are.

My one concern about Nerlinger is I don't know if he could work with our limited budget, he had totally different finances to work with when at Bayern, hopefully we can get the right man in quickly, we've a massive summer ahead.

And for anyone that says Ross Wilson is brilliant why don't you look at where Southampton where finnishing in English league in the three years before Ross Wilson and then look at Southampton's league places during Ross Wilson's time going from a top ten regular to mid table to fighting relegation. ?

And with us in a 50/ 50 league where the standard of player very low he has not exactly done well on the recruitment front.
Look I was not a fan of him but our horrendous start this year injuries gio has to take a portion of blame along with Wilson in the balogun stuff but when you look at Wilson's overall record and how the clubs do before and after him compared to his reign it's not great reading.

John from what I see at Brighton and knowing davie weirs position I feel he would be an outstanding replacement and an upgrade on Wilson. Call it a guess tbh we don’t know yet really. Most of brightons previous set up are at Chelsea so how much of their good showing can be attributed to davie weir?

Are you both missing the picture at Forrest as well there are two parts to look at their former dof bought so many players and they are still rank rotten so anyone for them will be a step up
They took a scatter gun approach to signings and have paid the price.

Morelos simply does not want to be at rangers
Colak wants to be at rangers and I'm sure there will be plenty of good candidates for dof that want to be at the club

He's not rotten storm but he's not brilliant either. But it doesn't read well with how his clubs don't perform and how his signings don't perform in the time he is at a club.
He carries himself really well and perfect guy to put in front of cameras but think I'd like someone with a mix of playing career and business sense within football.

I would love to see Laudrup back at rangers as DOF he understands our club back to front, has a lot to say about rangers and the current squads, and would definately clean up the squad in a healthy way, aswell as bring in the quality we need.
Neither Weir nor Nerlinger can say they get what rangers is about on the level Laudrup gets it.
I have no doubts Brian would lock kent and morelos down on new contracts, and along with beale get them back to there best.
Goldson and Hagi should both be unleashed against celtic and rested / training until that game when we knock costco-coglu rovers clean out of the cup, guaranteed they will come into that game over confident and that will be there downfall when we rip them apart on our way to the final which we will win.
I feel forest went for wilson to help them after there relegated so i don't see why kent or morelos would play for a championship team, when they can give us there best next season and of course our next european campaign.
Theres a bigger chance of gerrard going to forest than kent or alfie.
