People saying we should go get shankland I would agree at £2million apparently hearts want £4/ 5million tho surely if that's is true we can get better for our cash.

i was one who said we should have got him long ago, rangers fan to his bones, scores goals for fun, confident and a grafter, no brainer, sadly none of our previous managers couls see it so he's probabky lost to us now, just like the ferguson boy, , you can bet your bottom dollar had any of these two boys been celtic supporters they would have been at parkhead long ago, I've had that said to me numerous times by a lisbon lion who still works at celtic, we fxxxked up, simple as that, walter would have had both i'm in no doubt, a massive massive error on both no matter what, ferguson was a surefire future captain, shankland is as close as you get to hateley, god knows what his numbers would be now and what might have been, sadly probably too late, we thought we had better,

Here's a question fellow bears regarding shankland, who would undoubtedly score goals for us if we could get him ?If we made moves to sign shankland and with the money hearts would be looking for, what player within our squad could we offer hearts as part exchange with cash for shankland ? Remembering the player we offer has to appeal to hearts as well as us preparing to let the player go as part of any deal, thoughts on this guys ?.

Dado sometimes the actual worth of having the player outweighs the sell on value mate ? If you think any particular player can come in and be a very good signing for you then you pay what you deem a fair price simple as that ?.

Why would Hearts not want 4 or 5 million? The guy is a goalscoring international player with a pot 2 side who are in the euros. He should've been signed instead of Dessers in the summer.

Should have been signed, scoring goals domestically, European and country levels . I see him a bit like Boyd, would have scored for fun so the fee hearts wanted was probably fair considering what we paid for other players who won’t do what shankland does.

Shankland is worth £5m all day long to Rangers. He would score loads of goals and lead the line.
Look what we paid for Dessers and Danilo. Danilo has only just now came on to a game and even then, he misses a lot of chances.
Dessers will likely never turn it around.
Horrendous mistake if Gers do not sign Shanks in January.
We do not need him for resale value. We need him to score loads of goals and help us win trophies.

There is absolutely no way we are shelling out a few million in January for Shankland to be a second choice striker behind Danilo.
And while we still have Dessers and Roofe on the books. Unless either can be moved on.

Shankland would be ahead of Danilo. Danilo can come off the bench until he proves he is better.
Shankland would score loads of goals.
Dessers and Roofe need punted somehow, there are a waste of a strip at this point.

We will never get our money back for Dessers and would probably have to pay over the odds for Shankland who is much better suited to Scottish Football. Not a great advert for player trading on our part.

We do need to be looking at buying best of Scottish too where applicable as I feel we could have done better than Yilmaz for LB position without paying 4mill etc - good Gers teams of past had Scottish identity and steel mixed with foreign players - the right blend is required so hopefully PC can see the need for identity in the ranks at Ibrox- we had a chance of Shankland for around 100k when scoring for fun at Ayr Utd - but that was obviously beneath us then - speculate to accumulate is the motto!

I’ll probable take some stick for this but I have seen more of him this season and I would like rangers to sign but only if the price is right no way are we spanking 4/ 5 million on him. 2 million max. I always thought he was a bit like boyd too as someone further up said but he has more to his game than that and I do believe he would be better in Europe than boyd was for us too. I have no doubt the man that is obsessed with me will have something to say.

Shankland is nothing like Hayley. Totally different players.
Just cause he scored a header the other night and scores then now and again doesn’t make him mark Hayley.
Chris Sutton was closest thing I’ve seen to mark barely in Scotland.
Anyway, shankland. A fair price all round is £3m £3.5 at a push.
Look what we paid for dessers is going to be hearts argument but we would go back with his euro record from 2 seasons ago as answer to that.
In terms of who can we swap?
If it’s true clement doesn’t fancy Souttar, he’s an option.
What’s defines future look like under clement? Is he worth say £1m atm?
Scott wright in January swap plus cash?
For me in terms of realism that’s about your whack in terms of players who might go to hearts that hearts would want.

Shankland ahead of danilo until he proves himself? Would shankland not need to come here and prove himself also? He might very well come to the club and flop ( like he did his last club) he might struggle massively with the pressure. For me danil is better than him all round anyway. But take him over dessers or biscuit legs any day.

Looking at what we did buy, maybe we should have gone and got Shankland but I really can`t see us paying what Hearts would want for him. Comparing him to Hateley is laughable, Mark Hateley was an all round centre forward, great in the area, good on the ground, could set up and score goals, bully defenders and had pace. Sutton was nowhere near as good either as he was dead slow. Probably the nearest there has been in Scotland is Dado Prso but even he wasn`t as good as big Hates. A Shankland comparison for me would be Sandy Clark, a regular goal scoring blue nose who we eventually signed and who tried his heart out every game . Unfortunately it just didn`t work out for him at Ibrox. He was compared to Colin Stein when he signed, don`t get me started on that one.

Sutton was a fantastic striker, anyone denying that is just being spiteful or blind.
He was everything u mentioned other than pacey but I don’t remember Hayley being pacey it wasn’t one of his main attributes.
Both are strong, powerful good in the air, well outstanding in the air actually. Both scored a lot of goals, mostly headers. Both set up a lot for their partners, mccoist, shearer n Larson, they’re almost identical strikers in how they played the game and their main attributes.

hateley was very pacy, very deceptive, and i never said same as hateley, he's the closest to hateley in the country atm, nobody else does what shankland does well,

Hearts would never sell shankland for 1-2 million unless he was in last year of deal or something
Hearts would take one look at how much we paid for dessers and lammers and say 5million

Mols celtic tried to sign mcginn and were priced out of it. We didn't go for any of the guys mentioned as far as I'm aware.
You are correct that there is no assurances, but one main assurance is they can do it in spl, as the above boys mentioned did well at their clubs before they got there move, shankland still doing well.
Taking punts on foreign players and ignoring our own homegrown talent hasn't got us very far in recent years. All our successful teams had Scottish players at the core of it. Why are we ignoring this now?

StevieG2, Hateley was miles better than Sutton and if you don`t remember him being pacey, go on to You Tube and watch some of his goals as he races away from defenders to score. When McCoist broke his leg, Hates took over the mantle of goalscorer not just provider for his mates . He was great in the air but scored some fantastic goals with that left peg of his, Elland Road comes to mind. I hate Mutton with a passion but even before he became a rentamouth cheerleader for the other mob, I wouldn`t class him as anywhere near Big Mark and its not just bias because I do rate the likes of Larsson.

Wsl I totally agree Hayley was a far better player than Sutton mate.
I’m just saying they were very similar in style and attributes.
I’m only 37 mate so time wise a was a kid when barely was with us.
Most of my knowledge of barely is from watching the videos of 9 in a row.
Maybe he had more pace than I remember as 3 people now said it so I must be wrong.

Hateley wtf did I just read! Shankland is nothing like the big man. Incredible comparison. A player who graced the San Siri and a Hearts player.
